My sister and I went here for dinner tonight. Â We got the friend green beans for a starter. Â We enjoyed the crunch and the green beans weren't mushy like you might think. Â They also came with a yummy sauce. Â Unfortunately, I could tell they were not homemade because their breading was completely uniform. Â Then I got the chicken pot pie entree. Â It came with salad (nice mixed greens and good ceasar dressing) and a bread basket (which the waitress forgot to give me, until i was nearly finished. Â She brought it over with a to-go box so I could take it home.). Â My sister had the meatball bomber and she was really pleased with it. Â There was a bunch of mozzarella melted on top (not enough marinara for my taste) and she was crazy for the meatballs. Â The waitress/bartender was really nice too.
This is a solid B type of place. Â I will also say that there is a lot of potential too though. Â Like another commenter said, their menu items often are great ideas and pretty original, but the execution is a little below amazing. Â I do hope more people start coming here, and they can grow and improve. Â The owner is a really good guy.
Had a cocktail while a local band played on "beach party Night" Â Didn't really want to dress in Beach wear in february in Wisconsin, but I appreciated the grass skits taped to the bar and table, cute. Â Bartenders are nice enough, but no one said hello when we entered the bar. Â Didn't notice that they had food, but looking at other review apparently they do, wish I would have known as we actually left because I got hungry. Â Place looks really clean, and I would totally come back to meet friends- lends it self to groups very well.
Review Source:Let's start with the positive- this place has a classy feel to it. Â Hardwood floors, tasteful decor, wine racks behind the bar. Â Plenty of options for your cocktail of choice. Â The potential is absolutely there. Â
Now for the negative. Â My husband and I came here for dinner and the food is mediocre at best. Â Its not a question of the options, but of the execution. Â The Horse Shoe sandwich and Cubano are excellent ideas (well known sandwiches that you can't get anywhere else around here), but because they're very cheaply done they're nothing to write home about whatsoever (I wish we would have ordered the pizza). Â The ham comes off tasting rubbery in the Cubano and there was very little pork (the best part). Â The Horse Shoe is an excellent idea, but it's made with a very (obviously) cheap frozen hamburger patty and has no finesse. Â We also had the artichoke dip which was extremely greasy (not creamy, but literally a pool of grease with the artichoke pieces and some shredded cheese on top) and SEASONED tortilla chips (odd pairing). Â If these sandwiches were really done right and the recipes prepared well, there's no doubt in my mind this place could be great.
As for now, we probably won't return. Â The owner is nice, the service was efficient, but there are much better restaurants/pubs in town that have the same ambiance and better food.
