Last time I went to the Malverne Diner I really didn't like it and I vowed never to go again unless I absolutely had to. Â That was many years ago and I don't even remember the reason why I hated it. Â
Last week, after the devastating effects of Hurricane Sandy, my girlfriend and I decided that going out to dinner might take our minds off of everything for a while. Â However, due to the gas crisis, we knew we had to keep it local. Â The Malverne Diner had electricity and was within walking distance, so, we decided to give it a try. Â We were not the slightest bit disappointed with out choice. Â The food was good, but the real highlight was the friendly service that our waitress provided. Â We overheard her saying that she had been there since 7AM, a long shift, but her service and friendliness never wavered and she made us feel welcome and appreciated. Â After a crazy week of destruction, sadness, anger and anxiety, the Malverne Diner, for us, was a temporary shelter from the storm.
