Factoring in the very inexpensive menu, Mama Rosa's gets a top pick for most of the entrees.  Ask the waitress what she recommends.  The pizza is excellent, the burgers and french fries very good, salads are large and filling and the cleanliness gets a superior rating. Last week I indulged in a cheeseburger, french fries, and two draft beers for an unusually modest 7 dollars.  MRs offers a large sub on homemade  toasted bun that might be more than most can eat.  The chef, Diego, is an excellent Italian cook, so if you have a special request...ask...and he might be able to accommodate your taste.  His marinated, grilled zucchini, not on the menu is fantastic.  I happened to enjoy it at his brother's wedding reception and wondered where to find this on the menu.  Enjoy, as a value, it's excellent.

Very disappointing.  Calamari frozen rubber bands.  Spinach & Cheese Ravioli was actually Cheese ravioli with a nasty tomato sauce & bits of black spinach (Maybe).  Baked Ziti should have been browned on top, however, just congealed cheese.  Salad limp with bitter cucumbers (This was included in price so at least I didn't pay extra for it). Tomato sauce tastes right out of a can.  No real flavor.  I can at least say that Service was attentive but it was 2pm.  Being the ONLY Italian restaurant in Gretna they need to revamp recipes to make it the BEST Italian.  Moving to another location is not going to make this any better.

This is your typical "Americanized" Italian locally owned eatery - not that being one is a bad thing.

I was there for lunch and ordered the chicken parmigiana with spaghetti.  Generous portion,  good taste.  I'm sure this wasn't freshly made on the premises, but that would be expected in an establishment like this.

Certainly a good option for this area.

Just received a sicilian pizza from this place.  This is probably the worst pizza I have ever had in my life.  Literally no seasoning. Both the cheese, sauce and dough were disgusting.  Unfortunately the only place to get delivery from in this area.  Strongly recommend a gas station hot dog over this place.

Best pizza in the Gretna/Altavista area and great prices on happy hour beer.

Great pizza with good prices and quick service- They have other Italian dishes but we had pizza this time.  Crisp and delicious crust  and all the usual assorted toppings.

5-star for Gretna, 3-star for anywhere else.  Mexican, Italian, and American(?) food all at one location.  Cheap drinks during normal hours, and really cheap during happy hour.  Pizza is pretty average as are the sandwiches.

I couldn't imagine driving past this place to go eat in Altavista or Chatham.
