We had high hopes in celebrating our son's 21st birthday there last night. First clue things were no going well was a phone call the day of the reservation telling us we were moved to the Carriage House due to an event. Second clue, the Carriage House door was wide open allowing insects and critters to join us for dinner. Third clue was the staff in unkempt disheveled clothing, still I hoped the chef would rise above and send out delectable food. We were not so lucky. From the taster to the main everything was over cooked. One in our party ordered her steak medium rare and it came out well done. My fish was over cooked and the broth was distasteful. We were so far removed from the action that I could not find the staff when we wanted our bill. I did like the country side, but that was not to the credit of the restaurant. The things they did have control over were poorly managed. It is a shame, because we were looking for an upscale restaurant to frequent, but we will not be returning here.

Beautiful building, lovely blazing fireplace, excellent service. Just don't go there to eat.

Beet and goat cheese salad bland, and not as described. Where were the pecans?
Crab cake disguised as a salt lick, inedible, sent it back.
Scallops awful, one wrapped with flaccid bacon.
My daughter's entree, lamb chop was quite good.
    Lovely dessert, chocolate sorbet.
    Cold coffee.

    All this for $185

    Never again.

Nice atmosphere but we had severe problems with our dining experience. The core problem was that the vegetarian gnocchi came out with what looked/tasted/smelled to be canned ham and bean soup on it. It turned out to indeed be ham soup and it really ruined the experience for my vegetarian wife. The waiter apologized profusely and in the end they tried to make up for it by knocking all of $10 off our $200 meal.

We were going to give them another shot but we had our Inn reservations bumped to accommodate a wedding. That's the 2nd time they've messed up our Inn reservations so I don't know if the restaurant will ever get a second chance.

We first discovered Manor House in 2009 and loved it.  The service is spectacular.  The food was amazing.  In 2010 we went to the Inn at Little Washington and while it was outstanding, we found we liked Manor House much better and came back in 2011.  It's smaller and more private than IaLW, but the food seemed a bit more refined.  The tables are more spread out and we felt that we had more privacy - which is strange since there's really just one large room with tables in a typical arrangement.  Get a table by the window in spring because the views are amazing.  It's quiet, even if you go in Prom Season.

I put this on par with Bailiwick Inn in Fairfax, Inn at Little Washington, or similar.  I prefer it over IaLW, but not quite sure if it's better than Bailiwick.

we have dined at the Manor House about 5 times and enjoy it. the grounds of the restaurant are beautiful, the great dining room is beautiful with huge ceilings and stone walls. if you are there in good weather and during he day, the terraces are nice places to sit for lunch. the little cozy bar is a nice place to go just for a drink. service is excellent and the food is very good and sometimes very creative.

if you can, try to stay over at Poplar Springs (the inn of which the restaurant is a part), enjoy a massage or swim at the spa, ride bikes (provided by the Inn), stroll around nearby (10 minuets) Old Town Warrenton. It will be a great weekend.

My wife and I ate here for New Years Eve 2011.  Food was tasty but not spectacular by any means.  The wait staff however, were genuine, friendly, and made us feel like we owned the Manor.  I would eat here again, however it would have to be for a better menu than New Year's Eve 2011........

My step-mom took me here and I was floored. The service was absolutely fantastic. Our waiter was helpful and very patient. I especially loved the girl in charge of our silverware - many times she switched it out without us even knowing she was there!

The raspberry sorbet they brought between courses was great by itself. The quail was delicious, too, but the dessert was by far my favourite course. I got the chocolate flourless torte, and I was in heaven. Even if the rest of the meal had been average, this alone would have saved it.

It was a great experience that I will talk about for a long time to come.

If you're looking for a quaint, romantic, delicious dinner spot--definitely come here! The staff is attentive and the food is prepared with care.  What's more, the house is beautiful.  Do yourself a favor:  get here early and walk around the grounds.  It's nice to take in all that country air (I know, we're not THAT far from northern va).

We ordered the 4 course meal and we were stuffed to the BRIM.  To the BRIM, PEOPLE... i thought i could go for a 5 course when I sat down, but I got slapped at the end of the meal.. in a good way.

    Get the duck confit :)

Originally had a reservation in the main dining room but it seemed very fancy and we wanted to hear the live music in the bar area so we were easily switched to the bar, the bartender Trey was wonderful and very enthusiastic and friendly. The house made charcuterie served with homemade bread was delicious and very ample for two. We also shared the house made pastrami sandwich which was equally tasty. The setting is really beautiful and the low-key live music was a welcome addition. The only complaint would be a small selection of Virginia wines and a very expensive wine list generally but the venue is great. Our room at the Inn was also wonderful. A great one night getaway.

Go spend the evening with Trey - you will be glad you did.

Had the three course dinner with my husband. The restaurant is beautiful and the wait staff were INCREDIBLY accommodating (allowed us to mix and match whatever 3 courses we wanted, which allowed us to share a 1st course, we each had a 2nd course, each had a main course, and then shared dessert). The portions were pretty big, but the food was perfect (the lobster bisque and short ribs were out of this world). Can't wait to go back.

The food was absolutely amazing!  My boyfriend treated me to a weekend at Poplar Springs Inn with dinner and brunch at the Manor House, and we were blown away.

Seriously, we sat in silent awe through most of the meal.  Everything was excellent...but more than that....exquisite.  I felt like standing up and applauding after the meal.

Furthermore, the service was above board as well. Our server was extremely helpful, funny and knowledgeable.

I can't wait to go back!

Yes, this place is expensive, but I don't mind occasionally spending a large amount of money for a fabulous dining experience. I mean, why not indulge and spend money for superb meal?

I highly suggest this restaurant to anyone looking to get out of the city and into something romantic and intimate.

Manor House has great ambiance.  The countryside leading up to it and the interior are very romantic.  However, the food was a bit disappointing for the price tag.  I took my girlfriend to Manor House for Valentine's Day last year, and we enjoyed it.  But, I don't think we would ever go back.  Don't get me wrong the food is not bad.  It is, in fact, very good.  However, when compared to other restaurants in the city--like Sequoia--that offer an equally romantic atmosphere, the price is not worth it.  If the food was better, we would probably return, but unfortunately, it is not.  Personally, I would rather eat at a Great American Restaurant, which has better food for far cheaper, than Manor House.
