I took dad through Stevenson on our way back to Portland from the Ape Caves because I had been here once before (to Walking Man Brewing) and liked the town. Â We needed to get some lunch anyway and I knew there were some other restaurants here.
After walking around, we ended up at Mark's. Â Can't say this was the greatest decision we've ever made. Â We only had the soup and salad combination which consisted of a tomato soup with a side of organic greens. Â If you ever go to this place, you'll probably be surprised they know the word organic. Â The dressing that came with it (we both ordered raspberry vinaigrette) probably could have been used instead of mortar to build a brick wall. Â Tastier than mortar, I'm sure, but probably not by much.
When a place says Family Restaurant, I usually run for the hills. Â Most of the other restaurants were closed when we were in Stevenson on Monday. Â Don't know why. Â I'm sure I'll be back in Stevenson again. Â Rest assured I will head straight for the Walking Man next time I'm back in town.
We had 2 meals here. Â The first was a lunch. Â We both wanted the clubhouse, but we have a rule. Â We never order the same thing! Â So.... she wants the clubhouse bad, but in the spirit of competition, we have to "rock off" for it. Â 1...2...3.... scissors-scissors. Â 1.....2.....3..... paper-rock..... good ol rock my ass! Â So, I order the patty melt. Â The patty melt was made with good burger, but it was greasy. Â Her clubhouse was a knockout. Â It's huge....like Sputnik, spherical yet pointy in places. Â She eats 1 part of the 3 part sammy... I end up having the leftovers 2 days later as afternoon snack before the wedding! Â mmmm.. good ol rock wins after all!!
Breakfast Sunday morning! Â We go with 3 peeps from our wedding crew. Â Now, we love us some biscuits and gravy... it's something we don't make at home much, so we get it when we go out. Â The gravy was too thin for our liking and the biscuit was a bit dense. Â Not bad, but not great.
