Truly inspiring food. Â I've been there several times - the menu is quite creative, and the chef has a flair for providing at least three layers of flavors in every dish - a tough thing to do and still keep things in good balance. Â Many of the dishes are a bit spicy. Â If you want something simple, perhaps this isn't your place, but if you want a California-style fusion restaurant with a great deal of creativity, then you'll be right at home. Â I moved here from the SF Bay area, and was thrilled to discover Maximillian's.
Review Source:The Voodoo Tuna is usually awesome, although I do end up with some bad pieces of tuna from time to time. Â By bad I mean bad cuts with tough stringy connective tissues. Â I still love the dish and always get it. Â I won't let myself eat the whole thing because it tastes even better the next day after it marinates in the spices!
My wife doesn't eat seafood so she will usually try something new. Â Her dishes have been hit or miss, she has had an excellent pork chop and a not so good ribeye. Â I've been a fan of Mike's food since back in the early Hotpoint days (Gail and Mike the owner's of Maximillians used to own Hotpoint).
Service is usually good and the wine list is excellent but over priced. Â However, this is one of my favorite restaurants for the Voodoo Tuna alone!
