If you like a large selection of expensive beer, then this is the place for you. Â If you want good food or good service, go elsewhere. Â Ordered hamburger steak and mashed potatoes. Â Got wallpaper paste and shoe leather. Â Actually lifted the hamburger steak above the plate, dropped it, and it clunked. Â Only went because my friends wanted to go. Â They have decided they don't want to return either.
Review Source:Five of us went to McHale's for dinner on 03/16/13. The meals we had were: 2-fish and chips, 1-cobb salad, 1-kids chicken tenders, and 1-kids cheeseburger. Â The fish and chips were wonderful! The fish was just so lovely! The salad was huge; as were the fish and chips. The chicken tenders were also good. My daughter loved them! The burger tasted a little off, and my friend's daughter got food poisoning from it. Albeit, a pretty lovely meal.
The restaurant gets 2 stars because the service was the worst I have ever had!! The waitresses were rude and nasty, were rolling their eyes at us, and other customers. We even saw a couple get up and walk out and say over their shoulders, we've waited 1/2 hour for our bill, so I hope we left enough money on the table. If not, too bad. Â
All entrees were brought out to our table except my daughter's...we had to wait over 10 minutes for her chicken tenders to come out. And when we asked a 2nd waitress about it, she stated, "Don't worry, they're coming"...Our waitress said, "OH, I didn't even know hers wasn't out." Â Really? You have no idea what is going on with your table?
I would go back for the food, but never again for the service.
Sunday afternoon in Rock Hill isn't the most exciting time or place, but I found myself there anyway. Most places on Main St were closed, so my mother and I popped into McHales for a burger. The menu is standard Irish Bar fare, no problem there. Nice selection of micro brews on tap. Nice. The real surprise was that they claim all their burgers are made w/ local, grass fed, hormone & antibiotic free beef. AWESOME. Till i got the burger (30 minutes later). It was a small burger, poorly formed, and burnt to a crisp. My mom's looked the same. It is a crime to do that to any piece of meat, but if you're spending the extra $ for local, grass fed, clean beef, why would you kill it on the grill? Fries had received the same mistreatment. The manager did come over and apologize, as well as pay for my meal, and the beer. I appreciate those things, but still left w/o what I came for: a nice burger. The place has potential, maybe it was the cooks first day, I'm not sure. I'll go back, just to see if it was a onetime problem. If it is, or if it isn't, I'll be sure to let you know.
Review Source:It is my favorite bar in Rock Hill! You will find all ages there. The food is good but don't be expecting fancy, because its just your above standard Irish Pub.
They are constantly changing there beer menu which is awesome for me because I love finding new good beers! And the guys behind the bar are pretty awesome too!
Yes it can be packed at times but that's a good sign! I usually grab a beer and sit on the patio. It's definitely the place to go to watch football, or if you want a throw down crowd on St. Patty's Day! Also, depending on the day...they usually have some thing going on, check their calendar.
I only gave 4 stars because I moved over 400 miles away and they are no longer my local bar...bummer!
Michale's atmosphere and service depends entirely on the day and time you're there. Bar food, beer, darts, and music. The weekends get busy as you'd expect. Don't expect the best service if it's busy. Unless you have a Megan Fox/Taylor Lautnerness about you...prepare to watch the order of bartender eye-contact making.
At slower times, enjoy lounging and playing some darts with a couple cold ones. There is always a nice energy about the place whether it's slow or busy. McHale's is one of the few gems in Rock Hill. A great place to go after 10 on weekends with a group of people.
McHale's is great. Really great versions of classic bar food, and an alright beer menu. Plus they make all their chips and fries there (although sometimes a bit too salty). Nothing is pre-packaged ... at least it seems. Plus all food is half-off for Winthrop students on Mondays. Can't beat that!
Favorite foods: Fries, Nachos, Reuben, Patty Melt
If you like good food, friendly bartenders, clean bathrooms, cold beer, good prices... then you won't find any of them here.
I don't understand the lure here except it's about the only thing going on in old downtown Rock Vegas.
I once waited at the bar 11 minutes to get served a beer. Granted the place was busy but I guess I'm not good looking enough to get served immediately for it seemed the bartender served the best looking people first. (Thanks mom & dad for that extra chromosome you gave me... appreciate it!)
Bottomline - don't waste your time here, go to the McHales in Tega Cay... at least they have a driving range so you can hit golf balls & drink beer. It's much larger, as well, and properly staffed.
