I was really happy with everything here! I ordered a beer sampler and loved all the beers. The Ruby Ale was my favorite! The Grateful Veg burger on a Gluten Free bun was very, very good. Hubby liked his turkey dip sandwich, a lot. Service was friendly, and it was not very expensive after 2 meals and drinks. I would love to come back again if I find myself in Corvallis!
Review Source:Nice, comfortable booths, with interesting decor. Service was prompt. I liked that the ketchup and mustard were organic, regional brands.
Sadly, the food I ordered was disappointing. I ordered a club sandwich. The sandwich, though toasted, was cold and damp. The fillings inside the sandwich was on the meager side and just not impressive. Fries looked really promising -- looked home-made and real, not out of a frozen bag. But they were cool and limp when they arrived at my table.
RC (diet) cola was also disappointing. I don't drink RC so I don't know if that's just how it is. But the soda was a bit flat, and the flavor lacked crispness.
I really wanted to like this pub! I haven't given up -- I will return and try something else. Hopefully what I experienced was just an unusual hiccup.
All the servers here are really polite & professional and do an excellent job. Its best to come during Happy Hour times (3pm-6pm & after 10pm) when its less busy with the dinner crowed.
Specials are usually pretty good, though I wish they rotated their specials more often, and the burgers and pizzas are the usual decent McMenamins fair that's appropriately priced and delicious but not "the best I've ever had" quality.
If you've never been to a Mcmenamins and are grabbing a beer, be sure to order a "Rubinator" which you'll never find on the menu but that your server or bartender will be happy to tell you about.
I guess I only have myself to blame. I came in with a friend on 4/20. This is why I should use my brain. College campus + 4/20 = Crap service, evidently.
Waited around 50 minutes for an order of cajun tots and mini-corndogs. The tots were good, but not 50 minutes good. Despite the date, I feel this is fairly representative of the normal wait here, give or take a few minutes. The other McMenamins in town is way better in this regard.
I have been here several times, and I will probably try it again, but only if I am not on a timetable. I love the sink wall and the general surroundings; the McMenamins approach to decor is one I have always liked. The food is fine. The service I have received ranged from barely adequate to horrible. In short, if I return it will be if I want to sit by the big windows on a nice day, admire the sink thing, and eat a burger (once it arrives) with cash in hand so I can throw it on the table without waiting for change.
Review Source:Decor is great, I love the kitchen sinks all over the place as well as the gaskets all pieced together in the men's room. The food was nothing to rave about, and the low-lighting reminded me that I was in a college town, but it far exceeds in comparison to everything else on the street.. The upstairs seating area looked like a lot of fun. The wait was a bit lofty, but I like the establishment.
Review Source:I enjoy that they put a McMenamins on Monroe. It was lacking a 'nicer' establishment that was not 'fast food' eating. It's a bit small, but neat bar right smack in the middle, plenty of huge TV screens for game viewing, booths below and an upstairs seating area as well. Have only been here a couple times as it opened after I had graduated from college (figures) but is a nice change from having to go out to the McMenamins off Harrison St. downtown.
Service - OK
Food - Typical of any McMenamins
I like McMenamin's, it's probably my favorite dinner spots in the campus area. However, at this location in particular, the service can be rather slow. Sometimes it takes awhile for you to get seated (although several people obviously see you standing there) and it almost always takes longer for the food to arrive than you would think it should. The burgers are good and Ruby is one of my all time favorite beers. Fun fact: the curry bowl here is one of the best curries in town. Weird I know. But anyway, the prices are a little jacked up and the service is slow but you can definitely get a good meal here. BUT, the other location is better.
Review Source:This is, without a doubt, the worst McMenamins in the entire state of Oregon. I've been a patron at alot of Mcmenamins in the last 15 years and I realize they can be a great place to eat, drink, and catch a concert. For some reason, this one doesn't live up to any decent standards.
Since this one opened on Monroe's, it's always had a reputation for slow service. I think it's the fault of the managerial staff since there is usually only 2 servers scheduled for the entire restaurant. The food could be decent, and at the price, it should be delicious. However, what ends up happening, is that someone in your party will not even get an ordered meal since there is a mix-up in the kitchen. This has happened the last two times I've dined at this McMenamins.
Last night was one of the worst times I've ever dined at this McMenamins and it will be the last time. Not only did someone not get her meal until 20 mins after the rest of the food at been delivered, but the server was extremely misleading. My partner asked for two mixed drinks at the same time since he knew the service was slow. Also, it was during Happy Hour and thought it would count as a well drink. The server told him that he couldn't bring him two mixed drinks but asked him if he'd just like a double instead. My partner didn't think it would be that much more, so he ordered that. (If he had known that a small tumbler would cost $14, he would not have ordered it. This isn't NYC.) Later, while we kept waiting for food and service, he ordered a second double.
When the bill arrived, my partner had been charged 4 expensive mixed drinks. Turns out that well drinks are only one type of liquor. Â The server should have been forthcoming, and instead, charged almost $30 in drinks. It was ridiculous, and when I asked about it, the server condescended to me and treated me like I was a child.
Between the slow service and the attitude of the server, I will never go back to this McMenamins. It's too bad since the experiences here have affected my general perception of all McMenamins, and I don't know how likely I'll go to other ones as well.
My girlfriend and myself went here on a Tuesday night at about 9PM because we were craving a good steak and we live pretty close to it. Â We walked in and were greeted by a "Please Seat Yourself" sign and as soon as we sat down a waitress took our drink orders. Â We got their Cajun fried pickles which came out in under 5 minutes and were phenomenal. Â We both ordered the steak and fries rare and it came out in under 10 minutes due to being mostly empty on a late Tuesday night and for the fact we didn't order them well done. Â The steaks were very flavorful and quite thick so the middle was exactly what we wanted. Â We took our time eating and when we were done we declined dessert and payed. Â Overall the service was great, the food was great, and the fact we didn't have to wait at all was great. Â It was definitely a refreshing experience.
Review Source:The food is generally good, and the atmosphere is nice. Its a bit dark which was a bummer because today has been sunny, and I felt like I was evading the sun for some cavelike dining...
The service was very very slow (which is not unusual for this location). Â As long as you go when you are not expecting to be somewhere afterwards, sit back and enjoy good company...And don't be really hungry because you'll drive yourself crazy watching other people around you get their food!
I've officially been to every restaurant on the main part of Monroe!
I really liked this place. I'm pretty sure its the only restaurant on/near Monroe that actually functions like a real restaurant. I loved the decor and it looked like a date place, all dimly lit and whatnot.
My friend and I had gotten there 2 minutes before the big rush of people so we only had about a 15 minute wait which wasn't too bad. There was only one couple in front of us. We got to sit in a booth! I love booth seating. It seemed like most of the restaurant was booth seating though.
I got the sweet potato fries and the red curry tofu. I asked the waitress if she knew what kind of tofu it was and she didn't. It ended up being fried tofu. I hate fried tofu. Ughhhh. I hate when the service staff doesn't know anything about the food they're serving. It was on their regular menu too so wtf?!
The portion of the fries were HUGE. My friend and I shared it and I still had a huge amount to take home. The chipotle ketchup it came with tasted like bbq sauce. Haha. She also gave us ranch which tasted really good with the fries. My friend got some club sandwich that came with fries.
Service wasn't bad but it was realllllly slow. I hardly ever got my water filled. I think I saw our waitress twice and she would literally just run pass with a EVERYTHING OKAY? K!! *woosh* gone.
I have never had anything less than a great time at McMenamins. Â Whether you're coming in with the whole family or just grabbing some drinks before the Beavers game, this place never disappoints. Â Stiff drinks, good beer, nice staff and yummy food. Â Oh and lots of unique decor to gaze at. Â I LOVE the cajunized tots, and every other dish I've ever had there has been delish. Â For beer the Ruby Red is a nice light, crisp choice and if you really feel like getting in the holiday spirit I would recommend a Kris Kringle beer.....YUM!!!
Review Source:We had the wine sampler, which was super yum and a good price for 6 large half glasses. Â The bartender was really sweet, not what I'm used to for girl bartenders in a college town. Â The inside of the bar is really cool and the decor is unique. Â I had a veggie burger, which was really good. Â
TAD
I've been to this place enough times to know better by now. Â I guess I keep trying it because I like the IDEA of McMenamins, but I'm always disappointed by the reality. Â Mediocre food, if you're lucky, and at times, some of the worst I've ever been served in a restaurant. Â Generally speaking, mediocre alcohol. Â And mediocre service, if you're (really) lucky. Â The only reason this place survives is because of its location. Â If people were to stop rewarding this place in spite of their poor performance, perhaps they would be forced to step up their game.
Review Source:The best time to enjoy this branch of McMenamins is when OSU is not in session. Stopped by two weeks before school began, the place was empty and enjoyable. Food is OK, nothing memorable to write about. Service was friendly and efficient. The decor is unique to say the very the least, espiecially the right hand side wall with all the sinks.
Would recommend only when school is not in session...
The decor is interesting and there is room for small and large groups. Â I really enjoyed the Greek Salad, others had hot wings and pizza - no complaints. Â
Our service was great - drinks were kept full and we did not experience any delays in service.
The space is very open and has a high ceiling so it tends to get pretty loud when the place is full and it can be hard to talk. Â Not the place for a quiet conversation.
This is what McMenamins is supposed to be like: friendly (but a bit slow) service, unique and eye-catching decor' and decent food.
I love the wall full o' sinks and the creative plumbing art in the restroom.
They have a decent menu to choose from and the prices are pretty standard for McMenamins.
Now back to the service for a minute, it seems that the wait staff are trying to do a good job, but they do seem very short staffed, which makes for relatively slow service, especially when waiting for your bill.
I love their french fries, burgers and ruby beer, but I wouldn't go there if I was in a rush for anything. It can take a half hour to get a drink, much longer for food. The service is friendly but incredibly slow. If you have a lot of time to spare and don't mind sitting in one spot for a while (it can be nice if you go with friends you don't mind chatting with for a couple hours), I'd definitely recommend going. It's pretty laid back and has a nice atmosphere. It can get packed, especially on weekends, so I'd recommend happy hour over going for a late-ish dinner. It's just not a place for a quick meal or a quick drink, so if that's what you're looking for, look elsewhere.
Review Source:The food is really good and decently priced but the service absolutely sucks.
I went here the other day for a lunch date and opted for their Greek salad while my date had the electric lunch and a Ruby Red. The salad was absolutely amazing and I've been here before for some delicious sweet potato fries and beers! I really enjoy the food, it definitely steps above the typical pub food. But the service absolutely blows. We saw our server twice the whole meal. And after waiting 45 minutes for our check and being unable to find our server we walked out without paying.
Now I'm not one for dining and dashing but this was absolutely ridiculous. She wouldn't have deserved a tip anyways since she had a complete stick up her ass the whole time she served us.
Try hiring servers who can actually do their job and I would frequent this place more often. Although free lunches make this place pretty decent. ;)
This is the better of the two locations in Corvallis. It's on campus, so parking can be a challenge, depending on the time.
I love sitting upstairs at this place. Nice view of the venue and the bathroom fixures on the wall (you have to go there to appreciate). Service can be slow and getting your servers attention, well, isn't always easy. However, the happy hour food is good and cheap - probably the best bang/buck in town.

I seriously thought I wrote a review for this already... turns out I haven't yet. (This review is based on happy hour food and service.)
Last time I came here with two friends during happy hour (around 4pm) and ordered:
Two set of wings $ 5 each
Two set of tots $1 each
Hummus and pita $2
Lemonade + RC
They have a pretty good happy hour selection- it's under $5!
[+] Great customer service. Refilled our drinks without it being empty. That's bonus points in my book. The wings that they serve are pretty meaty, which I like.
[-] The lemonade that they serve is yuck! (I just wish the waitress told us that the lemonade isn't all the great, so I don't have to taste it in the first place. Maybe.. just maybe she didn't know...)
[?] Yes, I would definitely go back there for happy hour. As far at going during regular hours, I will think twice about it.
McMenamins. It took me awhile to remember how to say it - mcmenawhat? and why is it McMins and not McMens? The things that I'll never figure out.
It's okay. The beers are okay. The food is okay. It's not consistent. It sometimes takes a long time to get served (and I'm realizing now that I'm not the only one that feels this way).
Happy hour specials are good. $1 cajun tots? Sold.
McMenamins is not known for its service at any of their pubs or restaurants and this location is no different. Â But they do have a great late night happy hour menu (after 10pm) and the bartenders are more friendly than the normal waiter staff. Â Do yourself a favor and skip the dining area and just go to the bar area.
Review Source:I can't believe this place has a 3 star rating. Worst service in Corvallis. The criteria to work here: Bad servers only.
When it's NOT busy, on average it takes 10 minutes just to have a server greet you. The food takes 30+ minutes to come out, which would be fine if it didn't look and taste like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for half the day.
For one of my classes we had to do an experiment to test service depending on what you wear. We chose this place because we knew it would be bad service and we'd have a lot to write about.
I'd give it no stars if I could for the horrible service, and only 1 star for food because it's usually a little disappointing or just bad.
I really don't know what to think about McMenamins. I've been here plenty of times, and every time I leave somewhat disappointed.
The food is pretty good. I usually get the BBQ Chicken Pizza. It takes forever to get, but I understand that many times if pretty packed. Sometimes, however, it takes even longer just to have your order taken. It takes nearly 30 minutes to get water and order a drink if you are there during busy hours. I wouldn't say the service is outright horrible, but instead, understaffed.
One time my friends and I went to McMenamins on a Saturday afternoon. It was fairly empty and we decided to sit at the bar. We sat down for almost 25 minutes, at the bar, before we had our drink order taken. 10 minutes later, we got our first beers. No problem. Then, however, we decided to just order a pitcher. We put our order in right away after our first drinks were delivered. Nearly 30 minutes later, after the bartender had disappeared the entire time, she brought us our pitcher. We were all a little upset by this point so we just asked for the check.
Low and behold, we got our check very quickly, but it wasn't alone. The bartender poured us another pitcher, and informed us it was on the house for us being so patient. We gladly thanked her, and our sour moods soon turned back to normal. She was genuinely sorry and went out of her way to make sure she made it up to us. McMenamins needs more servers like her and I'd give them 4 stars. Until then, keep doing what you're doing bartender. Sorry I never caught your name!
Came here last night after watching some volleyball action over at Gill with Keiko since both of us started to get hungry. First things people think of when it comes to this place is Tater Tots. Cajunized tater tots. Terminator. Rubenator (?). Stuffed Burger. It's a weird situation trying to balance out the really good food and drinks with the service.
We ordered Cajunized tots to start off our meal. Keiko ordered the Cranberry Chicken Salad Sanwich and I ordered the Chicken & pumpkin-mole enchiladas. Both were on the specials menu which always seems to be appetizing and never dull.
This is one of those places where you care to hangout with friends, have a beer, watch a game, kick back with a beer on the table while playing pool and care even more of how soon your beer and food is served to you.
Inconveniently I didn't have my camera on hand to document this unique concoction of an enchilada. There was chicken, black beans, green chiles, monterey jack cheese, and the pumpkin-mole sauce which was tasted so new to me that I can't really say whether I loved it or question if I wanted it again. In the end I ate it all so that tells me something.
Paying the bill was interesting. A plus for splitting up everything however I owe Keiko $2 for the soda they put on her bill rather than mine -_-. We didn't want to wait an extra 5 min to flag down the waitress so I owe Keiko whenever I see her again this week.
So much for a labor day weekend, i have a full day of work and more cuz of fitness retesting for some of the soccer girls. sigh. Hello Monday.
This place has some seriously mixed reviews, and I can see why after my trip there this evening.
We went in primarily for cool drinks and dinner and to escape the heat, and we certainly did succeed in that. Â We seated ourselves and were served waters, and I ordered a gin and tonic, made with Penney's Gin from the Edgefield Distillery. Â It was very piney in essence, but I still got a lot of yummy cardamon and refreshing citrus flavors from it. Â It was delicious, though the time was a little less green looking than I'd like. Â My fellow diners ordered beers, and I had a sip of the Ruby, which was disappointing and lacked in serious flavor.
On to food-I ordered a veggie burger, only to find out soon after that they were out.  I ended up ordering the club instead.  We also ordered the cajonized tater tots, which were yummy.  They came with some homemade ranch for dipping that was really heavy on the garlic and awesome.  The tots themselves were  nice and crunchy.  My club came, and I ended up needing to get some mayo as it was a little dry for my liking-it didn't seem to have any mayo on it to begin with.  With that added, it was very good.  I got a side salad along with it, and that was good.  There were a few spots of brown on the lettuce, which wasn't good.  It had cucumbers, onions, and a little cheese and really could have used a little croutons or something crunchy.
We ordered one more round, and my friend ordered their version of a Singapore sling, which was TERRIBLE. Â It tasted like the smell of a chemical toilet to me and I am not even kidding. Â it was particularly because it wasn't shaken, but the cherry liquor in it was way too much. Â I would have sent it back, but we renamed it the blue pooper, and she drank the rest while making faces. Â Drink recipe fail. Â My second drink was really like drinking a glass of gin-it was pretty much all booze. Â Not a bad thing per say, just a little intense.
The service was pretty timely and courteous, and my only complaint is that the veggie burger I never got was on the bill once it was given to me, and also that the gin and tonics came up as $1 more per drink. Â I let the waitress know and she changed it, but had I had another drink I wouldn't have noticed.
I really liked the decor (the sinks on the wall are cool) and I like the localness of all the booze and food. Â I definitely think they need a hostess to help seat people in sections to get the service moving quicker. Â It was fine for us, but I can see why there are many other reviews with issues getting refills and served quicker.
Well, I have mixed feelings about this place. The service isn't that great, but it's a great place to meet up with friends to have a beer.
Several times, my friends and I have been ignored by waitresses, water is never refilled, drinks have been made wrong, it has taken over an hour to get the drinks we ordered, we had to pay for a tiny container of ranch to dip our tater tots in.
But, still, we kept going back. I guess it's just easy to forgive the restaurant's transgressions because of all the fun times we had here.
At the very least, you will have a story about how bad the service was to share for the next couple of days after you go there.
Recommended by a friend of a friend, my husband and I visited on a Friday for lunch. Â I loved the menu, there were a lot of great choices with good variety. Â I had the Curry bowl with chicken and it was full of fresh vegetables and just the right amount of curry. Â Delicious. Â My husband had the fish tacos and they were the biggest I've ever seen. Â Great food and excellent service and loved the atmosphere!
Review Source:as long as you go in with the expectation of bar food, you will not be disappointed. Â This is not haute cuisine nor does it pretend to be. Â It's just bar food. Stick with the fried foods and you will be okay (e.g., tater tots, fish n chips, burgers, fries, etc.).
The beer is great and goes will well with the fried bar foods.
As it has already been mentioned, the service has been hit or miss for me as well. Sometimes it really awesome and the servers are on top of it. Other times I just sit there and sit there and sit there, it seems like the server is annoyed I need something.
Anyways, regarding the food, if you have been to one Mcmenamins, you've been to 'em all pretty much. If you have never been before, its basically higher quality bar food. Nothing exciting but something for everyone. The fresh cut fries are nice but be sure to ask for them well done unless you like limp fries.
This McMenamins is really hit-or-miss. Â I've had a few good meals and some really lousy service for late night drinks. Â I went one night with friends; they were almost empty and it took almost an hour to get a round of beer. Â I don't know if that's normal or not, as I haven't really been back to check.
The food is your typical McMenamins pub-style fare: burgers, fries, salads, you know. Â This place is seems to attract a strong college-age crowd, so come here if that's what you're looking for. Â Personally, I far prefer the McMenamins in downtown Corvallis (420 NW 3rd St)- it's quieter, cozier, with far better service.
