I agree with most reviews. Â Even though our room was non-smoking, you can smell the smoke coming from the ventilation. Â They need to do a better job with this. Â The hotel room and bathrooms are really nice though. Â They have a small casino with a few restaurants in the casino level - Craftsteak, Juniors, food court and some other one. Â Most of all the restaurants and two other huge casinos are located in Foxwoods Casino - they have a long walkway connecting the two properties. Â It is a long walk.
Next time I will stay at the Foxwoods casino.
I stayed here for free because my mom had a comped room, so I went along with her. The rooms are really nice, almost Vegas-esque, but I dont htink I would shell out $400+ per night for them! THe beds are moderatly comfortable, and the bathroom is jsut too big. It has a glass shower door, that doesnt close all the way, so after the shower there was a huge puddle on the floor.
The casino is small, but its a quick walk over to the Foxwoods side. I dont know why people keep saying 15min + walk.. how slow do you walk? If you are unable to walk, tehre is a shuttle that can take you down to the bingo/buffet side of foxwoods.
I contracted hot tub folliculitis from the hot tub here in August. The next morning, I woke up with bumps all over my body, with the worst areas directly under my swimsuit line. It was so miserable that I couldn't sleep for nearly three days and had to go to the emergency room, where they diagnosed it as hot tub folliculitis. I never go in hot tubs, so clearly this is where it came from.
When we contacted the hotel, they were very slow in getting back to us. We only asked that they would cover the emergency room expenses. They respond several weeks later saying that they had tested the water that day and the chemicals were normal. Well, obviously they weren't!!
Not very smart, Foxwoods. As semi-frequent guests who often spend quite a bit of $$$ there, we will now be taking our future business to Mohegan Sun. And I'm now permanently afraid of hot tubs.
What a beautiful hotel!
The rooms are gorgeous, stayed in the regular rooms twice and was satisfied both times. Saw the suites at the double tree at Foxwoods and trust me they had nothing on the regular rooms at the MGM, it is definitely worth the little bit extra money to say here. It is also in the same tower as Shrine, which makes it a perfect spot to stay for a Shrine night!
Would definitely recommend staying at the MGM.
We splurged and stayed in the Producer's Suite over Thanksgiving holiday and could not be happier with our choice. Â The room is spacious with beautiful forest views and two flat screen TVs. There is also a mini fridge for any leftovers or drinks. Â (Be warned: if you wish to purchase your own alcoholic drinks, you have to do so off site. I miss you Vegas!!!) The bed is heavenly; I don't think I've ever slept so well in a hotel room. Â
The best part about the room, though, is the bathroom. Â A two-person jetted tub and a rainfall glass-doored shower with beautiful finishes.
Everyone at the hotel was insanely helpful and polite. Â We'll definitely be back if we want to gamble in the area again.
Always make sure to play here and dine here as opposed to the original Foxwoods..
The bill breaking ticket machines are the same model as the MGM Grand in Las Vegas..just a nice touch..much more of a Vegas style experience..
Blackjack rules here are good..usually leave with a small profit..
Much better video poker and slot selections..machines are clean and well maintained.
Junior's is an excellent dining option..always leave with a slice of cake and a sandwich..
MGM is like a mini vacay when you stay the night. Â The rooms are top notch as well as the restaurants and bars the casino/hotel has to offer. Â If you stay on a Tuesday they sometimes have promo codes for cheaper rooms. Â Liquid Sundays at the MGM pool are awesome, closest thing you're gonna get to Vegas pool party in New England. Even if you stay and go to the pool on a regular day in the summer it's still awesome, they do provide cocktail service. Â Shrine and Scorpion Bar are some good spots to hit up at night. Â My fave being Shrine, good DJ's! Â Umm PS check out the showers in the rooms, pretty awesome!!
Review Source:We love this place. Always clean, the casino is small and intimate and they have a couple of good restaurants. Oh and most important? I get my room comped a lot and almost always win money there! What is not to like about that? Free and they pay me to come? Yup, I am a fan!
Cleanliness and a comfy decor round out the experience. The attention to detail is amazing. I mentioned that it was hubby's birthday last time we were there (on their dime again) and they sent up a beautiful plate of chocolates (hand made with petit fours) and spelled out Happy Birthday in raspberry sauce and chocloate on a piece of white chocolate candy. Great experience and the only game in town for us now. We haven't been to the Sun in a couple of years except to keep my points active and to see a concert and then we drove up the road to stay at MGM. Have been there about 15 times (always free except on Sat night and got that for 99 bucks) and will not go anywhere else. Concert venue is amazing too!
Try Alta Strada for a nice meal. Pay with points for an even better experience as they give you 1 to 1. Also, they always give you at least 20-30 bucks in free gaming that you can redeem right at the machine. GREAT venue for fun!
I come to Foxwoods regularly for work, and I usually stay at one of the other towers. Â This past time, they were all full, and I got put up at MGM Grand. Â I was originally not pleased, as it's about a 15 minute walk to the poker room. Â But halfway through my trip, I realized how lucky I was to stay at a such a nice hotel.
The rooms are like 3 steps above the other hotels, and a lot of the good restaurants & clubs are in the MGM Grand tower. Â I think I might have to stay here next time I come.
Travel Zoo deals rock!!!
The hubby and I were lucky to catch an awesome travel zoo deal for the MGM Grand. It was $79/night with all the taxes and fees the hotel applied it came out to about $100/night. Still an awesome deal from the regular $399-$599/night.
I would NEVER pay that much for this hotel. Honestly, the hotel lobby and casino is gorgeous. The Outdoor pool is wonderful and great poolside service. But, when it comes to rooms. This is not a $400 room.
The rooms are a decent size, the beds were really firm. We've slept on much more comfortable beds at less expensive hotels. The bathrooms are nice but not a lot of counter space. Walk in showers, don't expect tubs. I prefer showers over tubs but be really careful getting out. Floor can get very slippery.
Other mentioned about the mini bar/snack area.. the front desk informed us they've now removed the snacks from the room to avoid any charges.
That being said. We had an awesome time at the MGM. I came in worried after reading so many negative reviews about the smoke in the hotel. It was not as bad as others have mentioned. There's a slight smell of smoke but it well ventilated compared to the Foxwoods side. Our non-smoking room NEVER smelled like smoke either. Don't be worried about that.
There's a Juniors restaurant on site of the hotel. We had breakfast there and loved it. If you're looking to have breakfast anywhere.. Go there! After breakfast we headed out to outdoor pool through the patio doors of Juniors and found lounge chairs immediately. There were plenty but it was early summer time. I'm sure this place gets packed during peak seasons. Make sure to head early.
The cabanas and couches are available for use for an extra fee.
The Casino is much smaller but we preferred it over the hectic Foxwoods side.
This isn't a review of the hotel itself, but the music venue. Â I had the chance to go see the Counting Crows there a couple of months back, and WOW! Â I've had the chance to see CC many times over the years, always at college campuses and dive bars, and they put on a great show. Â It was even better at a place as nice as the MGM Grand!
What a great venue! Â There was not a bad seat in the entire place; no matter where you sat, you had a great view of the stage and the sound was fantastic! Â The prices weren't bad for tickets, especially once I saw how great the seats were. Â Drink prices were not cheap, but that's normal for any show at any place. Â Parking was alright; close to the venue, no charge, and a wait to get out after a show; again, typical for almost any place. My only complaint about the show was the curfew they put on the bands, which made them have to cut their sets short. Â :-(
BUT, if CC or any other band I want to see comes around again, I'll definitely  buy tickets to go see them in this great venue!
We have been going to Foxwoods since it opened about 2 decades ago. Â We love love love it. Â Since MGM opened a few years ago....this is the spot we go 100%. Â The rooms are very modern and hip. Â The bathrooms are very nice...tiled showers with glass doors. Â There is a coffee maker with coffee. Â The decor is browns and blues (tealish) and white. Â The rooms are a quick access from the casino floor. Â The casino is awesome...very Vegas-like with modern decor. Â There are tons of great slots. Â The rest of Foxwoods is huge with every slot you can imagine, but we have no problem playing slots for 10 hours straight on in MGM.
Our favs when at Foxwoods (we go about 5-6 times a year)....Shrine at MGM is yummy...have the lobster rangoons and the fried rice and the blushing geisha martini. Â We also try to bowl at High Rollers which is always fun. Â For a great meal go to the Paragon restaurant on the top of the Grand Pequot tower...food is yummy and atmosphere is amazing. Â Cedars steakhouse is always great we love to sit at the bar and have the lobster roll and bisque. Â Hard Rock Cafe is what it is. Â The Veranda Cafe near High Rollers is okay for late night bites. Â California Pizza Kitchen has great small plates. Â The Scorpian Bar is very cool and great for a drink. Â Juniors in the MGM is great for breakfast.
Oh the spa at MGM the best.....so quiet and relaxing...great 99 dollar sunrise massage.....order lunch at the pool near the spa. Â
We have also stayed at the Grand Pequot about 10 times over the years...always great large clear well-appointed.
We have stayed at Great Cedar 3-4 times...not since the remodel...which looks nice.
We stayed at Two Trees once or twice but not in years, but it is nice.
The reward system is $1 for $1 to use in the resort anywhere and that is great.
What can we say we love Foxwoods.
My boyfriend surprised me with a little getaway this weekend, and we had a fabulous time staying at the MGM Grand at Foxwoods. Â We stayed in one of the suites, which had a beautiful view. Â What really had me impressed was the bathroom. Â 1) Because it had a separate room for the toilet, sink and shower/bath. Â And 2) because the shower/bath was amazing. Â The tub was big enough for both of us to soak in, and had heated jets. Â
I'm so excited to come back for a weekend during the summer so I can sit by the pool. Â I should probably start saving up now for that!
I'm not a casino expect at all, but this place has everything you can think of besides the casino itself. Foxwoods has clubs, restaurants, shopping just to name a few, but everything is so expensive and their is no such thing as a sale price here. This place is packed all night long and starts to die down around 2am or so. Very fun time, but not a thing to make a habit out of, especially if your losing money. One of the highlights of this place is that it's beautifully made and you can basically eat of the floors because its so clean. Of course, millions of dollars were put into Foxwoods by people losing their money gambling!
Review Source:Stayed here recently with the hubby. We splurged and got the Directors Suite. Which, considering the price, was laid out strangely and expensive for a weekday. Upon entry you are in a foyer of sorts that opens to the sitting room, bedroom/bathroom and the main closet. Whenever I've stayed in Suites like this, everything is open or seperated with French doors, not actual walls. This made what could have been a roomy place feel compartmentalized.
Negatives aside, what bumped this from a 3 to 4 stars for me was the bathroom. Oooh the bathroom...
The entire bathtub shower area is one open room, completely tiled in an undefinable stone (or very high end tile). The tub was a Kohler jetted tub that let me control the strength of the water jets and if I wanted the water to be heated additionally. I guess if you take a long enough of a soak it would start to get cold. The shower was a rainfall shower head and there was a drain in the middle of the floor. It felt very Japanese to soap up, wash my hair and rinse and THEN step into the tub to soak. Pure bliss. I had a glass of wine and a magazine in there and could have stayed forever.
The bed was very comfortable, sheets were crisp and pillows were plentiful. While the room itself was very clean, there was a lot of calcium build up on the sink faucets. Yuck. We mentioned this on check-out, the desk clerk did not offer a discount or anything for bringing it to his attention. Oh well, it would have been nice but I wasn't really expecting it either.
All in all, we will stay here again, I just don't know if we will spend the $$ on this particular suite again.
This was my experience at either Mohegan Sun or Foxwoods. We stayed at Foxwoods for two nights Super Bowl weekend. The MGM Grand has a separate entrance than the "main" Foxwoods casino. It is a beautiful entrance with valet parking or self park for free. The room was spacious, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was one of the best I have seen in a hotel. The concierge was helpful and made reservations at various restaurants for us. The MGM grand has it's own casino which was nice. It had a good selection of table games and slot machines. There are three major restaurants at MGM Grand: Shrine, Craftsteak, and Alta Strada. We went to Craftsteak and it was delicious.
Overall, it was a very nice hotel. It was a bit on the expensive side, but it did have a luxurious feel.
I've unfortunately been back to "The Woods" twice since writing my review. Â I was invited by friends each time and didn't want to miss out on seeing them because of my bad experience. Â In fact, just before Christmas a "Patrick M." who works for Foxwoods contacted me via Yelp and offered to "make it right." Â I replied to this olive branch he extended and let him know I would be coming.
No reply. Â Good luck when Boston gets their casinos....this place is toast.
Hotel room was clean, bathrooms are super nice, front desk wasn't too friendly, sort of robotic at that.
Had some issues with a "lost drunk boy" knocking and telling us to let him in on from 5:45-7:00 am. Â Took security two phone calls to finally come and remove the wanderer. Â Didn't get the best night's rest but it's expected at a casino. Â
More upset that management did nothing about the situation, and he had knowledge of this "lost boy" who had been escorted out by the police earlier in the night.
So, I headed up to MGM for a weekend long bachelorette party. I've always been strictly a Mohegan girl...so this was my first trip to MGM. I've stayed at Mohegan numerous times and I have to say...while I enjoy Mohegan for gambling, food (so far) and entertainment, I enjoyed the hotel and pool at MGM MUCH more.
The lobby has it's own seperate entrance and concierge from Foxwoods--we utilized the concierge and all was standard and friendly there. Our rooms weren't quite ready so we had to check out luggage, and that was quick and efficent.
We had two rooms right across from each other--both rooms were clean, with extremely spacious bathrooms and comfortable beds. Our request to remove the mini bar and snacks was met immediately, as was our request for an empty fridge for all our booze. We called down for new pillows a few times and that was immediately brought up as well.
I LOVED the showers--huge, with a nice bench. My only complaint is that because the floors are marble, they get very slippery...but hello, it's marble. We had no problems with noise as other people have mentioned, so I can't speak to that.
As for the pool--great layout, but poolside service SUCKED. Maybe because we were a group of 8 good looking girls and the waitress think they will get better tips from groups of guys...but we were NOT happy with this.
I would definitely go back.
I really really like this hotel. Â Here's why:
+ Spacious rooms.

Overall, it was a great experience.....can't wait to return!
Return Factor - 100%
I stayed at MGM Grand at Foxwoods and I was really pleased with both the hotel and the Convention Center. Â I was here for work, so I will break the review down into two seperate sections. Â
Convention Center:
I was pleased with the service we received. Everything was spot on, the staff was attentive and they did everything to accomidate every request we had. Â The food was both plentiful and tasty... which when I am planning a meeting for about 40 guys... there needs to be a lot of it. Â
They did have awful coffee...but they explained that it is a better option for them in the convention center because they were wasting a ton of coffee with real coffee. When I asked what he meant... he explained that the coffee they serve comes in a can and they mix it with water. Â YUCK
The prices were what we expected them to be.  It is a Casino after all so they charge for everything... WIFI = 50 per connection per day  Speakers = 75 a day  Flip Chart = $50 a day....  All in all great meeting, Great staff.
Room:
I was given a Suite and it was AMAZING. Â 20th floor, over looking the pool, Huge bathroom and Jacuzzi, the bed was GIANT and there was a sofa and two TV's. Â They also put in the room (because of the meeting) an entire plate of Chocolate Covered Strawberrys with a note saying Hope you have a Successful Event.
MGM Grand at Foxwoods is what Foxwoods should have evolved into. Â Despite being on the same enormous property as Foxwoods, this is an entirely different world. Â Much smaller than Foxwoods, it is just one big room.
But the atmosphere is incredible. Â In the center of the casino in the Center Bar, and along the perimiter is Shrine night club, which drives the mid 20s-mid 40's crowd into this the casino. Â At night time, the music is more club like, people are dressed to have a good time, and the energy is great in here.
Juniors, a great restaurant from Brooklyn, anchors this property, and 825 rooms are above the casino. Â Restaurants, a food court, a 4,000 seat concert hall (I've seen Kathy Griffin here, very nice hall), a Mac Store, among other clothing and jewelry stores, line the walls of this awesome space.
The gaming itself is pretty diverse, with craps, blackjack, roulette, and tons of slot machines to soothe your gambling itch.
This review is for the MGM Grand concert hall
Had a destination weekend to see DURAN DURAN & wow, what a show!
Playing the 1st night of their US tour, have to say the boys sure brought their A-game. Anyone who can get a room full of 40-somethings to rush the stage & scream & dance around like shrieking tweenies, makes for a cross country trip well worth it!
The venue is gorgeous - somewhat large yet still gives off that intimate feel; extremely plush seats, views are practically unobstructed - completely unobstructed while everyone was sitting but the abnormally tall guy standing 2 rows in front of me, still managed to partially block my view while we were all standing
Sound quality was fantastic - crisp & clear. Drinkys allowed inside & even though there were signs & announcements all over the place that said no cameras / cell phones, they were out in force
Free parking & guides to get you in & parked quickly
Best Tip: Don't believe the timetables that say it's 45 min from Hartford.....took me a little over 1 hour & that was w/ NO traffic & we were speeding
Cons: Gambling floor is small very small, there are not many restaurants to begin with but at night all i could find was a Junior Cafe that served sandwiches out of a fridge (not very tasty)
Pros: I went on Thursday and in a snow storm so I'm not sure if its always like this but while at the table my drinks just kept coming so that is a huge plus.
The hotel room was nice but that is expected at a brand new place.
My total experience was really bad I went home and was not very relaxed or happy like I usually m after a casino. Two stars are just for the drinks.
I will def be going to Mohegan
The hotel:
One of the best hotels I've stayed in (I'm on a tight budget and my mom gets free rooms here). Â The rooms are always pristine, so you don't have to worry about finding someone else's hair in your bed. Â Speaking of beds, they are incredibly comfortable...almost more comfortable than my bed at home. Â The pillows are fabulous, too. Â I love the bathrooms here. Â They're modern, and do I dare say it?, sexy. Â
You'll find pretty much everything you need in your room, but if you forgot something vital back home (your toothbrush, for instance) the staff are happy to accomodate.
That being said, I'm not sure the place is worth the high price tag (inflated because of the location, of course). Â If you're like my mom and gamble so much that they offer you a free room, it's quite a nice place to stay.
The casino:
A big ol' meh. Â If I could review the casino separately, I'd give it two stars. Â You're better off walking down the very long hallway to Foxwoods.
A little slice of Vegas in Connecticut!
I've been to several casinos in the Southern US and in Vegas but this was my first time at a casino resort in the Northeast and I had heard great things about Foxwoods. I was definitely impressed with the MGM Grand, especially in comparison to the other hotels on the Foxwoods property. It was much newer than the other properties at Foxwoods but the gaming area appeared much smaller.
The room was absolutely fantastic and enormous. It was a standard suite on the 21st floor although the view of the hills of Connecticut isn't the most exciting. The bathroom was one of the biggest I've seen for a hotel with a full glass shower and an expansive vanity. The furnishings were very modern and appealing. The elevators were a bit odd to me and constantly full of smoky gamblers but I guess that's expected.
The gaming area was somewhat smaller than in the adjoining towers but of course if you get bored you can always go next door. The walk to the next tower though is a bit long, but at least fully indoors. The staff is very friendly and the MGM property does a great job of keeping the smoke to minimum with restricted smoking areas and good ventilation.
With any casino, you can easily get great rates if you plan the timing right. I wouldn't pay top dollar for a standard suite but if you can get it for under $100/night like I did (I think it was $80), it's a great deal. Didn't try many of the restaurants but I heard most of the lounges were great and the prices are pretty reasonable. The hotel does provide you with a discount book for the property which definitely comes in handy.
I would definitely return to the MGM but not sure when I'll be in Connecticut again, SOLID 4 stars!
Very underwhelmed here.
The first thing that struck me about this place is that people dress like bums. Â Ok, usually not a problem since I like to be the best dressed one in the crowd, but come on people!
Maybe I have seen too many James Bond movies, but honestly I was not expecting Monte Carlo either.
The casino itself is good, if you like to gamble. Â I do not, I prefer to spend my money on tangible things that I can enjoy.
So if you are in the area and must go to a casino, go ahead. Â This place is not worth making a special trip to hang out. Â I certainly prefer Boston.
Horrible customer service from the Hotel.
Came with a group, got two rooms for two night, and reserved a cabana at the pool. We arrived, and one of the rooms was grossly smokey, despite reserving non-smoking rooms. We asked to be moved, only to be told there were no a joining rooms available. Hard to believe in a hotel that size. They came up and "cleaned" the smell. Â Dan Peterson, the so called manager on duty, was neither friendly nor helpful with respect to our concerns. The next day we checked at the front desk early to be moved. They told us to wait, and were notified mid-day. We had paid quite a bit of money for the cabana at the pool, and instead spent an hour moving our stuff to the new room, only to find out they weren't adjoined, and had to go back down to the lobby again to get new keys etc. The third room had a wet spot on the floor! What a hassle! And not even a genuine apology.
Arrived at the MGM for a friend's bachelor party a few weeks ago. We played a round of golf in the morning at the Lake of Isles Golf Club down the road. i must admit, I was pretty impressed by the hotel and casino. As soon as we walked in to check in I felt as though we were instantly in Vegas. Large, open area in the foyer, and plenty of employees at the check in area to assist you. Even though it was a busy Saturday afternoon, the wait was no longer than 10 minutes.
The rooms were great -- big and very clean. They seemed to be brand new. The bathroom and shower were also spacious and clean. Room service was impeccable and very friendly. I have nothing bad to say about this hotel and resort casino. I'm not much of a gambler, but this was a bachelor party, so I played some Roulette and some Blackjack. Everyone on the floor was very friendly. All in all, everyone had a great time here and I would definitely return.
Gorgeous theater - comfortable and inviting, good acoustics. Â Attractive casino resort, much nicer than Foxwoods proper, which looks like a shopping mall designed by a sadistic lunatic with no taste. Â MGM is an attempt to remedy that, and is rather tasteful (although nowhere near as attractive as Mohegan Sun a few miles away).
"Tasteful," however, is NOT the word for the food in their food court - which is the main reason for this review, to warn you away from their hideous, overpriced food, which, due to getting there later than we'd planned (traffic on I-95 can be beastly) we grabbed in a hurry before the show at the theater. Â We got some awful Chinese and then some really, really bad cake: a cannoli cake which was basically flavorless and overchilled, with mushy soggy crust, and possibly the worst cheesecake I've ever tasted - hard as a rock, also overchilled, gummy, with an off-flavor. Â Yech! Â We spent too much on all this crap and ended up tossing most of it. Â BAD. Â (Could have kicked myself when we exited and saw that for heaven's sake there was a Juniors there - talk about cheesecake! Â Oh well, live and learn.)
So 4 stars for the theater, 3 for decor, 1 (or fewer!) for the food court = about a 2.5 to 3 overall.
Really nice theater!
Comfy seats, innovative cup holder attached to the seat in front of you instead of on your art rest! Not a huge venue, so the stage is easily seen. Pretty good sound quality, although Debbie Gibsons voice sucked, but i don't think they can help that. Even their concession prices aren't too bad. Also, very easily accessible from the parking lot.
Ok, it is not MGM's fault that it did not get 5 stars. It is Holiday Inn's fault. Travelling weekly for clients I stay at way too many Holiday Inn Express hotels. And while the MGM rooms are nice, they look just like the new Holiday Inn Express designs. So for the rooms, the design is to close to Holiday Inn Express and I expected so much more.
However the good news and why I like MGM is the Front Desk staff is fast, and efficient. They take care of things and make you feel welcome. The Spa is beautiful and the fitness facility has great machines. Plus in a hotel with 30 floors, it seemed as though I never had to wait for an elevator and I was on the 30th floor.
The pool is beautiful and the conference facilities might be far from a restroom, however the staff and set up is outstanding.
One thing, it is not Vegas. Just having the name MGM would imply certain things and they just do not exist. For instance, the Spa and fitness area close at 9 PM. 9 PM? Why? I hate that. In Vegas you can get a workout or massage at anytime. That I love!
Ok, check it out for yourself and watch out for the pigeons at Junior's. They do swoop down and eat your leftovers. ;-)
I saw Russell Peters here.
It was a nice theater. Nose bleed seats were not so bad. It was a totally unobstructed iew. I could see the stand up comic pretty well from where I was sitting and he was also projected onto large screens so I can see his hilarious facial expressions. I could also look down and see who in the audience he was making fun of. Sound quality was excellent as well. No feed back and no echoes.
NON SMOKING! YES! Awesome! I hate cig smoke when I'm trying to enjoy a show or whenever I'm trying to breath. Parking was good.
Now, there is one thing that takes away from this whole experience and kept this place from getting a full five stars.
DON'T FOLLOW THE FOXWOODS' WEBSITE DIRECTIONS!!!
In order to route you away from Mohegan Sun, they take you 20 miles north and then 16 miles back along I-95. This is a good 30-60 minutes out of your way! Are they so paranoid of the Mohegan Sun?
I was visiting my cousin in Providence and realized that while I was in town, my favorite group was going to be performing at the MGM Grand at Foxwoods. Â I immediately bought tickets from the casino website and was provided with excellent seating. Â
The casino is clean. Â It didn't overwhelm me with the smell of cigarette smoke. Â There are a lot of different areas to gamble in, some smoking, some non-smoking, which I thought was cool. Â The dealers were nice and helpful and didn't mind that some of us in our group were new to the game.
The theater was set up nicely as well. Â Very intimate. Â The employees seemed to be enjoying themselves and were helpful when needed.
But, being from the West Coast and having been to Vegas a million times, this place doesn't compare! Â I guess you take what you can where and when you can get it, right?
While my brother and his wife were in line waiting to check in, I went into the casino, kinda small, and mix of new machines and older ones (which I thought looked kinda ugly). Before they had room keys in hand, my $10 magically turned into $300.00 in a $5 slot. Sweet.
Very nice/clean room. The bathroom was beautiful, almost as big as their room. Overpriced mini bar and snacks (that were DUSTY!) Plenty of restaurants, shoppes, cafes, etc. in the MGM. There's a gelato stand that's open until 1:30 AM. We ate at Junior's NY-style Deli. It is one of many restaurants available to you, better than the joints you'll find at FW.
The hotel room was nice but we were missing parts to the coffee maker, we requested a fridge, they said one would be sent up but it never arrived, and they have the motion sensitive mini bar so you can't even empty it for your own stash.
I was also annoyed that the concierge at the bottom of the elevators couldn't help me store my bags and I had to lug them back through the casino to the bellhop next to the valet.
I stayed at MGM Grand not long after it opened at Foxwoods, and I believe this place is definitely a positive addition to the Foxwoods casino resort.
This establishment brings Foxwoods a touch of Vegas, and definitely attracted a younger and more exciting crowd to the area. I liked the chic decor, it gave the place a elegant and lively energy, which is a great change from the main Foxwoods casinos. The dining and shopping choices, including Craftsteak, Shrine and the Apple Store, are also a higher notch than what they had to offer in the original Foxwoods.
I enjoyed our room a lot as well, the interior possesses a modern clean cut elegance, and itbis quite large. The bathroom and the shower were so good that I showered 3 more times than I needed to. The bed was fluffy and comfortable, with big pillows and thick comforters. An additional plus is that the rates for these rooms are usually really good during the week, when something is cheap, it is always slightly more delicious.
i haven't had the chance to visit during a warmer time, so I haven't seen the outdoor pool in action. But I gotta say, they have a nice outdoor area if you needed some fresh air to clear your head after sitting at a table or slot machine for too long.
I will definitely stay here instead of any other hotels in Foxwoods whenever I have overnight visits.
