Completely rockin' spot on East-East Colfax. Â Not just a Latin grocery, not just a great carniceria, not only a freshie-fresh tortilleria, but as good a quick-serve, latinolicious eatery as you'll find in the city. Â Lip-smackin' chile verde, menudo, caldo, burros, tacos, pollo entero, killer carnitas, Salvadoran pupusas, Mexican tortas, and a bigger menu than most taquerias. Â The chefs prepare it all right there in the open-air kitchen, while you watch. Â Freaking cheap for a gigantic amount of grub, and, a relatively good sign of the good stuff, I've yet to hear a word of English spoken anywhere on the premises.
Go, with a tiny amount of cash, and an empty stomach, and you'll be smiling wide, as you make plans to do the same thing the following day.
What a fun Sunday with friends.  Street tacos at Taco Juniors down the street at Azteca Ranch Market. and then grocery shopping here.  Last week we shopped at Azteca but wanted to try something new.  Next time we will try the food at the  restaurant in this store.  Some guy was eating a soup  that looked amazing.  It certainly smelled good.
Now on to the shopping which was great fun and saw things here
we dont see in regular grocery shops.  My husband and I bought cherimoyas, prickly pears, papaya, guavas,  tomatillos, chayote, and a few other fruits and vegetables.  We also bought  sugar can drinks and wafers with carmel sauce.  What  a fun dinner we had with our friends who had never tried some of the itmes we bought.  However we loved everything.  Oh we also grilled the flat cactus.
Will go back for sure. Â Might even try the chicken being grilled outside buy some smiling lady. Â For 11 dollars a whole chicken, Â salsa, tortillas and drinks. Â Not too bad.
The great thing about this place is it's not just a Mexican carniceria. Â It has latin food too off to the side in a little restaurant. Â Thank you Lord!! Â It's always packed here and I'm lucky if I can find a place to sit and eat. Â We love the carnitas to-go. Â So fresh! Â The rice and beans are good, and they put actual white mexican cheese in it..a little block of it that has the perfect amount of saltiness...none of that yellow shredded crap. Â We go here to get our latin food fix...it may not have all the Puerto Rican food I'm looking for, but, it's something.
