After a tragically bad round of drinks at Margaritaville downstairs, we headed to the Sportcafe in hopes of better luck. We definitely scored. The margarita was definitely good and actually contained tequila. Our mixed well drinks were also mighty good and strong. Sit at the bar, the bartenders are great! What's up Kyle!! They were also nice enough to make my friend a drink and let her try it. After she didn't really like it, he made her another free of charge. We also ordered some calamari, immediately destroyed, and the spinach and artichoke dip, also good.
They also play sports games on the giant TVs and will change them to whatever you request.
Every time I go to Mohegan sun I eat here. I live about an hour and a half away and my girlfriend brought me here on my birthday just for dinner. That's how much I love the baby back ribs at the mj cafe. They have a nice spice and they fall off the bone and are so succulent. That mixed in with the sports bar atmoshere, its a homerun. My girlfriend also likes the mixed drinks here. As they are tasty and not too over powering. This is one of my top five favorite places to eat. I can't really comment on the rest of the menu though, as I have only ever had the ribs haha.
Review Source:Service was good, burger was good though fries were not good and onion rings were not cooked all the way thru. Not my best meal here; garlic bread app was ok, not enough garlic and too much sauce. I will good back and try again but there are other options in Mohegan Sun. They do have beer on tap and a large array of TVs for watching sports. The bar is nice and always an option for just hanging out.
Review Source:Nice Sports Bar....with good food!!! we always make a stop, since we started eating there...we had so many points on our players club card...and splurged on some apps..and cosmos...which were strong and delish...Hubby always goes for the Filet Mignon Chili...he loves it...last time we shared the Lobster Sandwich...delish!!! Â Must Try It!!!
Review Source:Love the GoGo bread....a garlic infused ciabatta bread loaded with butter and drenched in a blue cheese sauce. Â To die for, literally.
The burgers are delicious and big and come with a mound of fries on the side, regular or sweet potatoe. Â Both very good.
Prices are very reasonable considering that this place is in a casino where no one cares about money, obviously, as they are all throwing it into machines and across  felt-lined tables.
The staff is always polite and helpful and a pleasure to be served by.
Salads are huge, fresh and delicious.
The only item that I have ever had here that was absoluely DISGUSTING was the brownie sundae. Â It was as good as a piece fo cardboard could be with vanilla ice cream and hershey's syrup on it. Â Awful. Â Not even Hot fudge on it, not that even hot fudge could have helped this brownie imposter.
Little Debbie's makes a better brownie...that's sad. Â
But in their defense, how many people are going to a sports bar for a brownie sundae? Â We just figured after GoGo bread, a burger and fries, why stop there, might as well have dessert too.
I'm surprised by many of the less than stellar reviews of this place. Â This is one of my favorite places to eat when I'm at Mohegan. Â Since this place is a sports bar, it is a great place to grab a drink and watch a game. There are huge projector screens all over the place to watch various games and sports talk shows. Â The circular bar is really nice in the center of the restaurant which allows you to watch a little of everything. Â If you are here to eat as well, the menu is on the smaller side but they do offer a wide variety of burgers, sandwiches and meals. Â I love the grilled chicken sandwich and sweet potato fries. Â The place is usually pretty loud so if you're looking for a place to have a conversation, this might not be the one. Â As far as places to eat in Mohegan go, I think this is one of the better ones and pretty reasonably priced for a restaurant in the casino. Â If you come on a weekend night or when there is a big event, they will tell you there is at least an hour wait. Â I would suggest putting your name in anyway because they usually call before the hour is up.
Review Source:Really you card a 30 year old guy from going into a restaurant ? And what's up with you guys feeling up my wife's driver license? Never seen a California license before? Anyways after that whole carding thing they sat us at a booth meant for 4 even though we had 5 in our party. Needless to say, we had them move us. Now I understand Jordan went to UNC, but painting the whole bar blue is ridiculous. As for the food, I had the half chicken with mash potatoes. Let's just say I had better at Boston Market. On the bright side my wife thought her shrimp and lobster scampi was good. Would I come here again? A big hell no.
Review Source:Nice sports bar with good bar food and atmosphere, I love the true bar atmosphere with all the TV's and different games playing, the menu offers more the just bar food so you can get a full meal if you so desire. However I must say that there are many similar sports bars in the Hartford area that offer a similar experience without all the  hoopla.  The beef sliders were very good, the chicken spring rolls were stuffed and full of flavor the cole slaw on the side came from a pre made bag from Sysco and was gross. I always wonder why restaurants serve lousy sides, they are part of the meal. The buffalo wing were ok.. I had better. They also serve many craft beers on tap, again good place but don't expect too match because of the MJ name on the door.
Review Source:Had to go here after going to MJ's Steakhouse a month or so before. Definitely a sport bar with TVs on sports channels everywhere but the decore was nice. They have awesome drinks (especially the Sexy Back Margarita!) - I had a steak dinner with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Veggies were cooked to perfection with the right amount of seasonings and my steak was pretty good. Not the best I've had but pretty decent. My husband had some burger, I think it was the 23 Burger (and definitely not the Hall of Famer, that you have to sign a waiver for because I wouldn't let him eat that! xD) but he liked his burger. We had friends with us and they seemed to enjoy their meals as well. Definitely a place to go out with friends and have a few drinks every once in a while.
Review Source:Some friends rave about this spot. my experience was only OK. 4 of us went for dinner this week. Music inside was incredibly loud. asked to turn it down a few decibels and they did. waitress appeared to be a friendly "beginner". cocktails were good.....i was the only one to order an appetizer and we all just knew she'd either forget it or it would arrive with the entree. the french onion soup(on special-cup was only half full!) arrived about 90 seconds prior to the entrees. oh well. food was fine...wife had the pan seared salmon which she enjoyed,....other couple had the 23 burger and the penne and blackened chicken. I had the black and blue burger. meal was OK....just nothing special..no WOW factors. probably a better spot to have cocktails than to eat food. its a popular place  at Mohegan...strictly in the average category.
Review Source:Great place, affordable & delicious burgers...
I have only been here twice, but both times, the burgers were very good. Â This time, I had the West Coaster (sprouts, avocado, white cheddar, LTO & bacon) which was fantastic. Â The burger was cooked through my medium request to borderline well, but I'm not usually picky about that. Â If you are, this could be a bad sign & you may want to stress the temp. of you burger to the server when you order.
Family had a salmon steak sandwich & cobb salad, which everyone enjoyed. Â The other MJ place is much more expensive & more of a classy steakhouse, so this place is a great alternative while at Mohegan Sun.
I will definitively return & you should try it out too.
Went to this place again for my wife's birthday, which I wanted to make a special night. Â We were eating early, and there were 5 people in our party. Â We were promptly greeted when we arrived, on a Wednesday night, but the hostess was not willing to provide a warm, friendly greeting. Â I advised we had a party of 5 for a birthday. Â She could not have cared less about it being a special occassion for us. Â We were told the wait for the table would be about 30 minutes. Â That was fine, and the wait was about 30 minutes.
Once the table was ready (or so we thought) the hostess rounded us up, and we proceeded to our table, halfway, and then the waitress at the table next to ours talking to the party of two gave the hostess the stop sign. Â So, back to the waiting area for 2 minutes, and then we were sat at our table.
Now, this is where I am upset about this visit. Â We were there to celebrate. Â We were there well over 15 minutes. Â No one had yet approached our table to greet us and/or take a drink order. Â The party at the table next to us had left, there table had been cleared and reset, and two women were seated. Â Less than 30 seconds later, the waiter appeared, walked right up to the 2 women, greeted them, took their drink order, and disappeared. Â A minute later, he comes up to our table, introduced himself as Nick, took our drink order and was about to leave when I advised we were ready to order over 20 minutes ago.
Now, we are frequent diners at this restaurant.....
The orders were taken starting at the waiter's right, fish n chips, fish n chips, filet mignon, (now my wife orders something she has order twice previously because it was so good) the shrimp and lobster pasta, no garlic please. Â The waiter proceeds to explain that this cannot be done! Â (Ahh, yes it can, it's been done before!!!). Â So she asks if she could have it with alfredo sauce or something instead because she does not like garlic. Â Again, he says no, the alfredo sauce has garlic in it too. Â I used to work in the restaurant industry. Â EVEN TGI FRIDAY'S makes their alfredo sauce to order!!!!!! Â I'm really getting upset. Â So she asks if it is a heavy garlic flavor and he say No. Â She says ok, that's fine, and then I order the New York Steak.
He comes back with the drinks and disappears.
The food was cooked and delivered by someone other than our waiter which is not unusual. Â But the person delivering the food for some reason thinks he knows who had what, does ask anyone, and then starts telling us that this is what we ordered as he places the dishes in front of the wrong people. Â After the third person advised that "he ordered that, or she ordered this" you'd think he'd have started asking, but he just kept placing the wrong dishes in front of us. Â No big deal, we switch our plates to the right places, and when my wife's dish is put in front of her, get a load of this, THERE IS A FULL BULB OF ROASTED GARLIC SMACK IN THE MIDDLE OF HER PASTA DISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The food was awesome! Â We advised the person who delivered the food that we wanted more drinks. Â He said he'd let the waiter know. Â The waiter stopped at our table with a tray full of dirty dishes, asked how everything was, we said great, told him we needed more drinks and he said he'd be back. Â He never returned.
So, we flagged down another waitress and told her we wanted more drinks (I for one cannot eat without a drink, whether it is beer, water, milk, etc, just something liquid), he finally came back and we ordered more drinks, but we never got them.
I worked in the restaurant industry for over 12 years. Â When I was a waiter, especially on a Wednesday night, the party of 5 that is there to celebrate would take precedence over a table of 2. Â I think we were the only table in the place that was not a table of 2. Â It should have been his money table!
The hostess never clued in the waiter about it being my wife's birthday, but when we told him, he brought out a complimentary piece of cake that was out of this world.
So, had the service been up to par, we would have had 3 rounds of drinks instead of one, which probably would have doubled the bill. Â I also generally tip between 22 and 25%, but on this night, I tipped 14%. Â I do tip on the total bill, and not on the pre-tax total that some folks use for the calculation. Â So my estimate is that the waiter screwed himself out of about $52.
Oh, this is kind of funny. Â They have a new loyalty club. Â Because we will go back, I filled out the form. Â The last question on the form was, "Do you have a favorite server?" Â I read the question out loud and everyone in our group responded, in unison, "Not Nick." Â We will go back, and I will insist that our waiter is Not Nick!
Awesome food, ususally top notch service, but not this time.
I came here last night with my husband and a few of his friends. Total, we had a party of 6, but two of our group was pretty late. We were going to watch the LSU v BAMA game so we thought we would get there early just in case there was a crowd.
We were seated right away because it wasn't very busy. The place is really nice! There are TVs everywhere you look! We were seated at probably the perfect table. Our waitress (Jessica) was very kind and helpful. She was prompt and attentive but did not crowd us.
We ordered a few appetizers and they were quite delicious. I ordered the best house salad I had ever had. It was just great. The dressing was a balsamic vinaigrette, but it had a unique taste.
I ordered the fish and chips for my entree, and as good as it smelled and looked, it just was not to par. The fish was soggy and dripped all over my fries. There was just an overall funny taste to it.
Everyone else had a great meal, and the portions are worth the price!
We ordered dessert just as the game was starting and then our two other friends showed up. They were approached by three different people to ask if they needed a drink or anything and each time they asked for a menu. They ended up with lots of menus in front of them. They ended up just ordering a few drinks.
Our waitress seemed a bit annoyed that the rest of our party had arrived so late, but that is why we did not wait for them. (The whole table aside from me is in the Navy. The missing two people were finishing things up at the Naval Base down the road). We would have moved to the bar, but there was not enough seats and sitting at the table did not seem like it should have been an inconvenience since the restaurant was not very busy.
We ended up leaving at half time partly because our team was losing and partly because we felt like our waitress wanted us to leave.
This place is worth the try, overall.
On a trip from VA to CT to MA, did a one day or portion of a day at Mohegan Sun, never mind it was crazier than I've ever seen, and gave me the vibe of Foxwoods - so will probably be my last visit to this place - wow - I used to really like MS...
anywhooo - the places that were still open for a late lunch were packed and I mean lines lines lines, so I went here - usually eat at Bobby's Burger or have tried The Birches (talking lunch fare here) - was very dissapointed - because it was just me, I sat after about a 15min wait (it was busy as well but not as bad as the other places)at the bar
Being this busy - 2 bartenders? Â It would be one thing to just sling drinks - but to also deal with feeding the herd is another story...
My bartender was great - my burger sucked - was over cooked and tasteless (and missing some ingredients too!) - the only good thing was they actually know how to make sweet potato fries (so they are not all soggy and gross but nice and crisp on the outside - yeah!) -
my bartender made me 2 great martini's - but never asked how my food was - damn, he was too busy - I asked the neighbors next to me if their burger was cooked as ordered  - nope - over cooked as well -
Even though for me it was free so to speak - I'll never go back to that rest and then, def would not go back to the "full fledged" MJ rest - if I want crappy food - I can go to a buffet or Wendy's!
Food was average, probably won't go here for a long time. A wire twisty tie was found in the chocolate cake that my husband was eating last night. The situation was reported to management who offered to remove the cake from the bill as a concession. Management did not offer to replace the cake or even buy a round of drinks.
As you can imagine, the thought of this wire being ingested could have caused significant internal injury requiring medical attention. For management to dismiss this as a simple mistake was very upsetting to me as well as all members of our dinner party.
Be careful and watch what you put in your mouth...
2.5 Overpriced and overhyped. I'm not saying the place was terrible, I just got a sense of production style casino food that charged fine dining prices. The place seemed a little messy, and the servers seemed disinterested in their jobs. I had the crab burger, and it was a deep fried bland nothing. They served it with tartar like it was a Gorton's fillet. The onion rings were the worst I've ever had, ever. The Thai spicy chicken wings were good, as were the lobster mashed potatoes. I had a Mojito that was basically a glass of iced simple syrup. I had to have the waiter bring me four slices of lime to cut through the sugar. I would neither recommend nor return to this establishment. I would really like to see the towering quotes of MJ out front of the place changed to some of his arrogant, expletive laden Hall of Fame acceptance speech quotes.
Review Source:Alright, short and sweet. Everything I've had here is great. My personal favorite is the Ribs with a side of sweet potato fries. The ribs keep me coming back. The place is clean and the staff friendly. There is usually a wait and if it's a game night, well its a bar, it'll be loud.
Food - 2 out of 2 stars
Service - 2 out of 2 stars
Atmosphere - 1 out of 2 stars. Only because I would love to eat here with my 3 year old, but it's loud and not a very private dinner. I wish they sold these ribs in the steak house!
This place is a staple of Mehegan Sun and for good reason. The service is friendly and they have excellent semi-high end bar food. The menu even highlights what Michael Jordans' favorites are. Now I know what your wondering, are these really MJ's favorites? Well the waitress said she met him at  the restaurant and he assured her what his favorites were. We tried MJ's garlic bread blue cheese fondue and it is as good as it sounds. Also grab some sliders and a mediocore ceasar salad. All in all this a great stop if you're at Mohegan.
Review Source:I liked this place. Â The food was good, the prices were average (we are in a casino remember?) and the decor was pretty upscale for what is essentially a sports bar.
I had some buffalo wings and a beer and it was around $20 (tip included). Â I should have gotten something different, however, the wings were portioned well and I didn't finish. Â This is unusual as I almost always finish the food that I order. Â Waste not, want not.
I doubt I'm ever going to Mohegan Sun again, but if I did I'd probably go here to eat.
If you're ever at the casino during lunch time and you're up for something a little better than Geno's yet you want to watch ALL of your sports, you really can't beat Jordan's Sportcafe. You can get the majority of the Jordan's steakhouse menu here as well as a "bar style" menu with sandwiches, salads, and lighter entrees.
On a recent visit here with family I remembered how much I liked this place and needed to review it. For an appetizer we chose the garlic bread which is served nontraditionally with a blue cheese fondue. It's decadent and amazing. My brother decided on the fillet mignon chili and the 23 burger. He complimented the chili noting that it had a spicy kick to it. The burger was cooked to order and he struggled to finish it but managed the task. Mom and I both ordered the "knife & fork" rib eye sandwich. This is excellent. A decent sized rib eye comes out on toasted french bread with a pesto sauce on top. The steak is covered with mushrooms and a swiss cheese. The plate is then covered in fried onion strings. It's great, and it's a huge portion which always causes leftovers. The other dish at the table was a lunch special. It was an 8oz. blue cheese crusted filet served with lobster mashed potatoes and sauteed asparagus. It looked fabulous and mom's boyfriend raved about it.
We were all entirely too full to order dessert, but the menu is the same as what's offered at the steakhouse.
The service here is always friendly and efficient. The tables turn over quickly when big games aren't on and they place decent music as the night gets later. I like this place and if I'm not in the mood for finer dining under the sun or if it's a lunch destination, here is a great option.
Whenever we go to  Mohegan Sun we do two things. We gamble and we eat. The one time we chose to eat at the Sportcafe i was really impressed.  We were a group of five and we all ordered different and delicious items. We were so full we could not oreder dessert.
It was altogether a great experience
I want to give it a 3.5 and it could possibly go up after another visit.
My boyfriend loved the place but since I write the review I get final say. We only ordered drinks and the poblano pepper queso dip with chips. The bartenders were attentive except when they were playing rock paper scissors over menial tasks.
The chips came out quickly and were good. I want to say the queso was cream cheese based with the peppers chopped up. V. Good
The couple next to me though had one hell of a time ordering and were consistently ignored by all three bartenders. I felt bad for them.
I hated the projection screens and the separation of bar and restaurant, those wires that were crossed from ceiling to floor. It wasn't  a huge obstruction to see the projection TVs but it was annoying.
The menu looked good, I would eat there for dinner in the future. Seats at the bar turned over quickly.
This place is a bit confused; it thinks it's a sports bar, but it serves a pretty good meal. Â It can get crowded at times, but if you go a little later than the dinner rush, you'll have a better experience.
The steaks here are always cooked perfectly. Â I order the strip and have never been disappointed. Â They do put some sort of steak sauce on the plate as a garnish, and I didn't like that. Â After the first time, I asked for it to be left off and it's never a problem.
I've yet to try the 23 layer cake, but after the rave reviews, I'll have to order it next time.
The best part of this place, however, is the fact that after a certain time, it's 21+. Â Yes it's in a casino, and you'd expect to find most of the place to be adult only, but you'd be wrong. Â Every time I've come, I've seen plenty of families with children and that's just not the atmosphere I'm looking for when I spend a weekend away. Â So cheers to MJ for knowing what's up.
I went with some guys from work and we had a great time. Â If the sporting event you want to see is somehow being broadcast, you can probably see it here (sorry cricket fans, your sport doesn't count). Â It's in the casino and there is plenty to do nearby.... or so I am told; I wouldn't know.
The burger was AWESOME. Â I can't say much about some of the other entrees, but given the prices and how good the burger was, I know what I'm getting when I go back next time.
I'll have to say the highlight was ordering the 23-layer chocolate cake... all 23 layers were there! Â The restaurant was crazy we were yelling our orders at the waiter and even then he had a hard time catching what we wanted to order. Â Heavily crowded, too many people packed into a small place. Â The weird part was this lady who looked like someone's mother walking around to every table asking if everything was ok... we assumed this was the manager but geez seriously get a name tag or something.
