Yay! I Â really like this place. Â It has pool tables, darts, basketball, and shuffleboard. Â Its a real chill place to hang out. Â I went here with my friends last night and we had a great time. Â We ordered some nachos, sliders, and a burger as well as a few blue moons in a pitcher. Â
The pool tables were pay per play. Â $1 for a game or $5 for 6. Â The taste of the food was decent enough. Â There is room for improvement but I don't really go hear for the food. Â I loved the environment. Â Its dim inside with lots of televisions playing sports and very spacious and clean.
Anyway, its a great place to kick it with friends and just relax over some beers while playing or watching sports.
I was here this past Saturday for the UFC fight. It was packed with paying an entrance fee of $10 to see the fight. We also were able to grab pretty good seats. They have bar foods for the menu. The prices were pretty cheap to order from. The quality of the food was edible. The tv screens inside are all over the place.. in a good way. We ordered the Loaded Fries and Party wings.
Loaded Fries - These fries were so good! Medium cut fries topped with cheese, cheese sauce and bacon. You can't go wrong with this
Party Wings - A plate of 50 wings.. We ordered them dry with the sauces on the side. The sauces we got were the buffalo , habanero , bbq, and italian garlic .. The italian garlic was gross. The buffalo was good, bbq can't go wrong, and the habanero was extra spicy!! The wings were good. Not amazing. Fried pretty well.
Service was okay.. They were busy so our server forget a few things here and there.
Recommendation : Loaded fries.
This place USED to get 4 stars. Â Recently the menu has changed, the prices have gone up, and amazing servers have been replaced by new ones that suck. Â Especially last time--the server literally leaned directly over and in front of my face (within inches and in the middle of conversation) to collect plates without warning or an "excuse me," and the shot girl never even looked in our direction, despite a couple reasonable attempts to flag her down (and she wondered why she was barely selling any shots). Â I withheld judgment for awhile because I used to love this place so much, but I've had five trips here and all of them have been disappointing.
Review Source:Love the wings, drink specials, and TVs and i come here because its close to home. Unfortunately, the service here is is always pretty slow, although there are 2 or so waitresses here who are awesome. Currently have been waiting for 45 minutes and the one waitress here has gone to literally every table but ours and wont clear our table. The bar tender, who is super nice, came out and brought us our food. Oi.
Review Source:I live 3 minutes away and never venture inside until a buddy of mine said lets try it.
Since then I've been in there 4-5 times. I don't drink, which is why I never visited.
Here's what I will say based on each of my experiences.
Food = Fantastic. Â
Buffalo Wings = perfect !
Fish and Chips = best i ever had (and I eat Fish and Chips often)
Burgers = great!!
Prices, on the fancy restaurant side of pricing, but expected.
One of the few places I've been that serves a Black & Tan, which I really enjoy.
Extra Credit = Cute Female waitresses every time have been efficient, professional and provided great service.
I see some negative reviews.....not my experiences.
Nice Job Michaels!
Steel tipped darts.
This place had me at steel tipped darts.
There are other classic bar activities, like drinking and eating (bar food) as well as pool tables, air hockey, shuffle board and a basketball arcade game - but it the darts that drew me here. Almost forgot - there's trivia night on Wednesday nights.
Only one problem - the dart lanes are in a pretty bad spot because it's a high traffic area - so people walking by might bump you, or just get in the way when there's a small crowd because it's on the main walkway to and from the bathroom and kitchen. But, the lighting is decent. The boards are in good condition and the score boards are stocked with pens and erasers.
Not a big craft beer selection and the food was - well, bar food but the service was awesome. I don't remember the server's name but she was friendly and attentive considering she was covering tables across the establishment from where I was throwing darts.
Now, if they would just move this place closer to my house ....
We made a quick stop at this bar while waiting to meet up with some friends and they had taco Tuesdays so we decided to give it a try. I had the fish tacos while my friend had the carne tacos. The tacos were soo yummy! Maybe the best fish tacos I've had overall. They had their long island drinks for half off as well.
The service could be improve though. Other than that I'd probably be back. Very chill, laidback place!
An easy going sport's bar.
Parking is easy, food: it's your typical bar food, but who care's about the food. It is all about the drink and the drink specials! I usually come here on a Friday with co-workers and I always get the Buy one beer get one free!
I can pretty much get wasted and make an ass of myself in front of 20 + Â people for under 10 bucks - seems like my kind of place.
Overall, this is a really easy going place with amazing drink specials, lots of space and pool tables!
This is one of our go-to divey bars not too far away from the house. Â Their food is decent, their beer and win e are good, they have an excellent happy hour and it is a great place to take in a game if you are into that sort of thing. Â One of the things that I really like is that each table has their own little tv screen, and you can change the channel yourself. Â
My go-to food choice is their chicken club sandwich- it has bacon, cheese and guacamole on it. Â My DH likes their burgers, pastrami, and has had the pizzas before. Â But one thing we almost always get are the hot wings- yummy!
This place blows. Crowd is quieter than funeral. Wings are good. They wouldn't accept http://restaurant.com voucher without s printout. Â Yo Brenda (Mgr), there is something we call technology now a days. Every other place we've used the voucher takes the number off my phone and can verify its valid.
Review Source:Man I realllllllly wanted a good happy hour and I was hoping Michael's would provide just that. Â But sadly it was more then a let down. Â happy hour portions are tiny, like a baby bowl of dip or two slider. Â These are not really a happy hour deal that most people are looking for. Â The food is decent...wings were tasty and the skin on them was crisp with yummy Buffalo sauce. Â The sliders were good as was the spinach and artichoke dip. Â
Service was slow and the waitress was far from friendly. Â
The saving grace here is the many beers on tap and TVs at every table.
Went to Michael's with my teenagers to watch Sunday football and get some food. A waitress pointed out a booth near the corner that was available then after waiting 4-5 minutes came with no menus and a snotty attitude saying "Oh, you want to eat?". DUH!! Who does that? I ordered a beer and 2 shirley temples another few minutes and a different server brings our drinks, short one shirley. I asked the waitress to please bring the other and the original waitress comes over no drink and like a snot asked if we wanted a 3rd; "No just the 2 we ordered". Food dropped without regard or to the wrong table (my son burned his fingers retrieving our nachos from the neighboring table). No refills or offer of another beer.
It's unfortunate that this place has such bad service cause it's a terrific venue.
My sports league uses this bar after game nights. Cool place to hang out, food is good (but sometimes the dishes aren't made consistently... go there on a different night and a certain dish tastes way off from what you remember, happened to me with their Chicken Alfredo), lots of games to play (darts, pool, shuffleboard, basketball, punching game, beer pong on certain nights), and most of the bartenders and servers are fun people. Unfortunately, they lost my favorite server to 2nd Floor in HB. Oh well. Their security guards are cool people to chat with also, can't say that for a lot of places.
There is one server who is just terrible (45 minutes to get me a beer, 30 to get me a menu, an hour to check up on my food order, really?) but there's a bad apple in every bunch, I just make sure to avoid ordering from her.
This place sucks! Servers are horrible and the food is even worse. The security is a joke, they let underage kids in all the time and pretend to check IDs. This place should be shut down so something better can come in. Anything would be better than this joke of a bar. Way over priced for garbage food, sorry I thought this was america and not a third world country, you cant even cook a decent meal. Congrats you are able to buy TVs that shouldn't mean you are allowed to call yourself a bar. Heres a free hint, fire your staff and hire actual servers and security. Also learn to cook if you are going to serve food. ***STAY AWAY THIS IS THE WORST BAR***
Review Source:I heard about this place from my coworkers. I was looking for a place to have my boyfriends suprise birthday party. I called to see about reserving a table and the girl said she would have the manager call to confirm. Brenda, the manager, was sooooo awesome!!!! She called me a few days later and left me her cell phone # to call her back on. Everyone in this place had their shit together!!! I couldn't have picked a better place! The crowd was chill, they had all kinds of games from pool, shuffle board, air hockey & darts... My waitress Abby was great!
Bottom Line: GREAT SERVICE! GREAT PLACE!
We agreed to meet up with school friends after our reunion. Â Something to recapture our youth...one of our friends suggested Michael's. Â Albeit, it is a sports bar, and a real local place for the more youthful crowd, but it was conveniently close and got the alumni thumbs-up.
With much trepidation, we went and met up with our friends. Â What a total surprise! Â Yes, it is a raucous sports bar complete with lots of noise, free-flowing drinks, and yes, we ran into more of our old school friends. Â The food is so-so, but the drinks are reasonable, and we were able to monopolize a corner area and continued out 'reunion' as more alumni showed up...one of them evidently Face-Booked that we were all meeting there.
Our thanks to the staff and owners of Michael's for accommodating this atypical senior group!
I'm reading through other reviews and found that lot of people were complaining of the service. I thought our waitress took care of us well throughout the night.
Now, 5 stars might be overly generously but keep in mind I don't really hang out at sports bars or dive bars to begin with. There was a diverse crowd of people on a Sunday night (Memorial Day weekend). Drinks were pretty affordable... shots came out about $5-6 depending on what you got and they were actually pretty good (with adequate alcohol in it).
I was surprised at the food... the white pizza (alfredo sauce) was really really good and only $11 and can easily be split between 3-4 people. Emily fries (covered with melted cheese and bacon) was a very sharable appetizer... and the sliders, can't go wrong with sliders.
Security seems to be tight here... got carded by the waitress, then randomly carded by the security guard... and then again at the bar. No worries. Lots of different things to do: whether it's watching TV, pool, shuffleboard, claw machine, darts, or just enjoying a conversation (though it is loud, but it is a bar...). The music machine seemed a little wacky, friend put in some money and his song never got played by the time we left...
Kind of nice to find another drinking type of place that isn't necessarily like your run of the mill Asian drinking joint (Past Memories or Kappo Honda).
It's another hidden gem to all newbies in the area, but a fave for many locals I've met.
It's a bar - plain and simple. You get all kinds of people here, yet it still has the neighborhood feel. My fiancé graduated from the high school nearby, so I guess this has become a regular hang out place for the people in the community. It's guaranteed that we will run into someone he knows.
The food is good and reasonably priced. Beer selection is not bad either.
What we enjoy the most here is the game area where they have darts, pool tables, air hockey table, and others I don't remember.
It's overall a casual place to hang out after work or watch a game on tv with a bunch of people.
Oh, and security also responds fast. They immediately escort people out who cause trouble - and I've witnessed a few.
Cheers!
Michael's is definitely one of those neighborhood sports bar where you'll run into your old classmates from middle school and high school. No? Maybe that's just me then.
This is a pretty good place to go to if you want to watch a game - they have TONS of TVs, even small ones attached to each booth. It's pretty roomy, but on nights when there's a big game going on, you can get pretty chummy with those sitting next to you. If you're not into watching a game, they have a small game room towards the back where you can play shuffle board, shoot pool, and other fun games.
There's always tons of specials going on. I love their Taco Tuesday specials - $1.50 for huge ass tacos. Another $1 if you want carne asada or fish ones though, but not going to lie, it's worth the extra buck. The fish tacos are freaking http://bomb.com! Trust.
The drinks are decent. They always have some kind of drink special. There's a server who walks around asking if you want to buy shots, but I usually just stick to beer when I'm here.
Service is good here. I've never had a problems and they're all super nice. This place definitely gets its locals. Especially on Tuesday nights because Tuesday is karaoke night. I was there the other night and my friend knew which songs the singer would be singing even before he went up! It's definitely fun trying to figure out which song the singer will be singing though.
If you're looking for a place for you and your friends to chill and watch a game, hit this place up. I'd give it 3.5 stars. If I do end up joining the dodgeball league my friends are in, I'll be here more since this place sponsors the league.
I just went here for the first time yesterday even though I've probably passed it a million times! I actually went here for my daughter's after game team get together! I liked it! It is a dark sports bar that has a full bar! It is definitely a sports bar with the usual T.V. with sports on. They have very sharable sized appetizers, huge quantities for the price!
Our table ordered the Emily fries, the chicken nachos and the chicken wings. All the appetizers were very good. I had a strawberry daiquiri that was also pretty yummy! The prices here are pretty reasonable especially for the portion sizes you get.
The bar entertainment consists of air hockey, pool, basketball and a speed bag. There is also something called Lobster Zone where you try to grab a live lobster with a mechanical claw and if you can manage to grab the lobster then Michael's will actually cook it up for you to eat! Kooky concept but the kids all tried the machine at least once!
We had really great friendly service and when we went around 2 o'clock in the afternoon it was pretty quiet. We were probably the loudest ones there at that time only because we came as a big group. I would definitely go back to Michael's sports bar. They get a thumbs up from me!
I don't think It's a stretch to say, it's one of the better bars in Westminster. Mind you, I don't drink a whole lot but, when I do, it's dos equis. I keed! I'm more of an Arrogant Bastard type but, can still pull off the most interesting guy routine without saying a word about it.
Well now, where to Begin. Upon entering you'll be greeted by the door man, good guy, just don't rub him wrong, he's got a job to do. Beyond him you'll find a myriad of good times just waiting to happen. It's a sports pub right? So Mike has the place decked out with TV's galore, really not a bad seat in the house. Pool tables, Darts, Lobster Game, (think, Toy Story) Hoop Shots, Shuffle board, Punching Bag, oh my!
We frequent this joint every so often and have had a good time, every time.
Love, love, love.
Why? Well first off, it's deceiving from the eye looking at it from the street. It's in the same complex as a supermarket, so practically everything else is closed around but upon walking in, it truly is a hidden gem.
It's true to its name with a very sportsy ambience and theres practically a tv at every table. On top of that, they have some of the best bar games available. From darts, and pool tables- even an air hockey table! The atmosphere is very vivacious, with a lot more people then you think. Believe it, or not, this bar has some of the best fish tacos I've EVER tasted- better deal on Tuesdays! The crowd's ages definitely range. It appeals to all sorts.
I love coming back to this place, it's just fun with good company. Period.
I went here for some NFL playoff games recently and had a great time. Â |t was crowded but the waitress was efficient and kept checking on me to make sure I had enough beer and food.
I talked to many sports fans of all teams and it was a good vibe. Â tvs in each booth and large larger and largest tvs on the walls. Â tvs everywhere. Â Simply my type of sports bar. Â the food was decent if not above average and the wings were awesome.
|'ll definitely come here again!
Are you kidding me, these waitresses are jokes.
9:30 and its not even crowded can we get some service? Granted you have your happy hour and bar games and bar good that can compared to the next local joint I've been to. Who let's their guests sit there for 30 minutes without service? I know I made eye contact with at least 3 waitresses and even smiled at one, but anyone? Anyone care for even a menu? No.
Overall, decent size place with amenities you'd expect from a bar. Terrible service and worst attitudes. Unless someone drags me, I'm not coming back.
If you're a sports team, head to Michael's with proof of team ownership and I think they give you a nice discount.
Good times, food was pretty decent, beers and such on tap, in bottles, etc. A whole lotta flat screens for your sports-liking. Plenty of parking and cute waitresses and bartenders to serve up your drinks and food!
You gotta love the poor lobster claw tank too. If you can pick up a lobster in the tank, they'll cook it up for you! LOL! I'm going to LOBSTER Hell!
Four objective observation stars and +1 for my own subjective sentiments.
Thursday nights have become Michael's SP&G night for the likes of myself and a handful of friends. At this point, seven Thursdays now and some days in between. If only MSP&G is like my gympass where you pay once a month then go as much as you like, I'll be a lifetime member. My buddy points out, "I feel like the 'Cheers' anthem is supposed to play when we walk in..." Second tall set of tables is where it's at. It's got my name on it Thursday nights.
The lot upon pulling in is unbecoming of what you're in store for. Once inside, the atmosphere warms up to you like a puppy home from adoption. And everyone likes puppies, you're the devil's anua if you don't.
Fortified with a games section, bar section, dining and the "in-between" tall tables, there is no excuse to not have a good time whether you want to expel some energy playing games, be loud and watch the games in the dining section (and boy are these TV's large) or schmoozing away over your beverage of choice.
Supported by a PHENOMENAL wait staff, they exude charm, wit, personality, big smiles and a fun time. I'll buy that for a dollar! Or in this case, $4's at a time when the shot girl comes around...
It even impressed long time friend and fellow Elite, Nino R. And he's a tough crowd. Warranting stars on a Yelp review is definitely earned in his book.
Table, puppies, set-up, service... Sentiments. I think I counted five. See you next Thursday...
I have to admit, I had a great time here last Thursday. Â I met up with fellow Elite, Fortunado "Noi" D. along with newbie Yelper Blak Craka...yeah I know. Â We were also joined by two of Noi's classmates for a night of drinking.
I arrived a little before 12a, as I was coming in from WeHo after attending an event at the Puma Social Club.
The place was rocking! Â The beers and shots were flowing like KRS-One over a Premier beat. Â I could hear the LMFAO song playing in my head for the whole night. Â It was like a Vegas dive bar.
We also had some wings which were ok, but the service was top-notch. Â Superior even. Â I have no recollection of any names but they were super friendly and entertaining. Â I can't stress it enough, our service was phenomenal!
I know this place gets mixed reviews. Â But I'm now a believer that you make your own destiny at strip mall sports bars. Â You make your own destiny my friend.
My only regret was not coming sooner so I could have enjoyed more wings.
When I walk in the club, all eyes on me...
They say you can't judge a book by its cover, but in some cases you can. Like for example, if you see a sports bar in a strip mall, you may be able to deduce some things. Or not - maybe you'll be surprised. In the case of Michael's, you probably won't be.
It's what you'd expect in a local sports bar, with lots of TVs, some random sports-related games and lots of greasy food. I have to say they have some of the most excellent french fries I've eaten in a while, though their $1.50 ground beef taco was so drippingly oily that I couldn't eat it without a spoon.
I like the huge beer mugs they serve and the fact that there seems to be plenty of seating on any given night. You'll probably want to go in there for when you get a major craving for bad-for-you fried bar food or to watch A Big Game. You probably will not want to go in there on Tuesday nights for karaoke night, unless you're a glutton for punishment.
ok ok you guys won't let me in cause i'm wearing a tank top i get it! yeah yeah yeah.... but its HB! C'mon give a BRO a break!
At first i love the place!
7.50 for a big ass beer!
1.50 tacos that tastes like Taco Bell... (its not a compliment)
affordable food..
but when they mess up your food they won't even bother to replace it or not charge you for it...
whatever i'm not going back here.. i'll go somewhere where i can wear my wifebeater! lol
My ears are still ringing from tonight. All I have to say is I LOVEEEE ST. PATRICK'S DAY and what's even better? I LOVE MICHAEL'S!
We tried an Irish pub tonight and that place was out of control...we opted to not wait in line and ended up here, at Michael's. Absolutely a choice i don't regret. Â
The people we met tonight were good people, the bartender's were absolutely great (despite the crazy crowd) and the security were super friendly. Â
...$7 dollars for an Irish car bomb is crap...but I suppose that's average right?
$8.25 for a large beer.
$6 for well drinks
$7 for Irish Car bombs.
$1 for pool games.
Men and woman in sexy skirts and bag pipes, good people we met and the fun we had tonight? Priceless. Â For everything else there's a Mastercard.
I admit, I didn't have a bite of the food... (but it didn't look all that amazing!) Great times, great memories, great rating, shitty writing (I'm totally buzzed!)....4 stars :)
-Service still SUCKS.
-Food is still decent, but not great.
-2 for one Happy Hour keeps me coming back.
-If you come late night be prepared to see a fight.
-Shuffleboard, Trivia, Pool, Air Hockey, Darts.
-Watch out for parking in the green zone in front. Â A tow truck is secretly watching you on the other end of the lot.
-NFL ticket and lots of TV's.
Has anyone ever noticed that Michaels Coffee shop, Michaels Donuts, Michaels kitchen, and this, Michaels sports bar are all on this corner? Â Be careful if you are giving directions and say, "meet us at michaels." Â There are WAY too many options to figure that out.
Its hot and need a good place to cool down and catch a game on TV.
Walked into Michaels and found an awesome place its sports heaven, tons of TV's all playing sports you'll find something you like.
Look around just find there is no bad seat in the house, wow they have a lot of pool tables if you like shooting pool. I'm the guy everybody wants to play I'm easy $$$. Great place for sports night out =)
The food is really good remembering its bar food, I love coming here for lunch. Great salads and sanwiches and tall drinks, plenty of choices in beer and the servers are nice and GL =)
I always enjoy myself here, I dont get out here much but I do recommend it!
High School Reunion anyone?
For me each and every visit to good ol' Michael's is like a mini high school reunion. Luckily only people I like seeing have showed up to this reunion.
It's a big place so even on weekends you can still go with a group and not have a problem snagging a table. Drinks are reasonably priced and food is good if you stick to the typical bar food options. There are plenty of pool tables plus shuffleboard and air hockey to keep you entertained and about 15 different tv's to gaze upon various sports events.
Happy hour from 4-7 with 2 for 1 beer, wine, and well drinks and $1.99 appetizers.
They have air hockey(which I'm a huge fan of), a whole floor of pool tables, shuffle board, and huge t.v.'s great for games! There's always something to entertain you at Michael's but it does get really crowded on weekends and game days so the service is a little slow.
Happy Hour is great! Two for one drink specials, $1.99 small appetizers, 1/2 off all appetizers. Laura (the best friend) and I are always amazed when we get our bill
I'm not really a sports fan, but Mr. Q loves him some sports, so I guess I'm a sports fan by association. Â Meaning I spend a lot more time at sports bars (or at least bars with televisions) than I'd prefer. Â (Sometimes I think Mr. Q is being courteous by pulling my chair out for me at restaurants until I realize he's only ensuring that he gets the TV-facing seat.)
As far as I can tell Michael's is a pretty run-of-the-mill sports bar. Â They have lots of TV's, and a few projectors even, Buffalo Wings, and pool. Â I'll cut to the chase with the things that stand out to me.
Thumbs Up:
-A brick oven that makes delish calzones.
-Decent drink and pitcher prices.
-Free shuffleboard.
Thumbs Down:
-It's really too loud and echo-y in there. Â I often can't even hear people at my own table.
-Mediocre service.
