We stopped here for the first time recently & unfortunately it may be our last.

The restaurant itself was clean and nicely decorated. The waitress was very attentive and another waiter made it a point to ask us where we were from (we're local) and work the southern charm - a point that did not go unnoticed by our out-of-town friends.

The food was okay. We ordered the fried alligator appetizer and were disappointed when it had a slightly fishy taste. It also came with a sweet red sauce that we weren't fans of. Out of our entire party, the soft-shelled crab was a little bland, the steak was tough and there was a complaint of the seafood platter tasting funny (possibly iodine from the fish). One person did say his hamburger was very good.

All in all, it could've been worse and maybe it was just an off day but I seriously doubt we'll go back.

With all the great places to eat in this area I don't see a reason to return. Food was average at best.

Very nice meal, first night in NO, they were out of a few things, but WHO CARES! Waiter was great, food was awesome. Made us glad we're here. BTW, best bread pudding we EVER had! OMG! Great experience!

Dined here last night and I must say the service was excellent. The wait staff was very attentive and really looking to see this restaurant succeed. Coming from out of town on business I tried the bbq shrimp, I wasn't a fan of the sauce and spices, but the shrimp seemed fresh and no frozen. Not the usual preparation I am used to on the west coast it may be for for a more regional taste.

For dinner I ordered the steak and lobster the steak was cooked well, a little more fat could have been trimmed off but I ate the whole thing, juicy flavorful and well seasoned. Unfortunately the lobster was a bit of a downer, well cooked but not much flavor, I was expecting more spices rather than the normal boil and serve.

I am giving this place three stars because of the shrimp and not four. If I lived in new orleans this would be a place I would dine from time to time, excellent prices, friendly staff and good all around food. Keep up the good work.

While staying across from this restaurant for few days I decided to give it a try on my last night. I arrived a little early, around 5pm, and it was not busy, but began filling up quickly after that. I sat at the bar and ordered a Magic Hat #9. It came in a large glass and was an excellent beer. I have had it previouly in bottle, but the draft was definitely better. The bartender, Kang, was a funny guy. A few of the other guys working stopped by and chatted while it was still quiet.

Being in New Orleans I thought I should at least try something somewhat local. I started with the alligator egg rolls. Three to an order for $7 and I side sauce that Kang explained was a cherry sweet and sour. Not bad. He recommended the ribeye, so I went with it. It was $15 and I didn't realize but it also came with a salad, a baked potato, and the steak was the small at 10 oz.

The food was excellent, the staff was friendly, and for $27 I made it out with a good steak, potato, salad, egg rolls, and a large 20oz beer. Definitely stop in and try this place and take advantage of the good food, good prices, and good staff.

This place is fantastic! Our service was incredible - BB is awesome. We ordered a steak and it was cooked to absolute perfection. We also tried the seafood gumbo - fantastic! Definitely worth the trip out of the downtown area.

This was an excellent choice for a meal. My wife printed a coupon from http://restaurants.com so we took a chance. I was sure glad we did. The restaurant wasn't in the best location, but it's definitely a diamond in the rough!!! I had the charbroiled stuffed shrimp and a 10oz ribeye steak ;) The stuffing in the shrimp was full of huge clumps of crab meat, and the steak was cooked to perfection...juicy,tender and very little fat content. Excellent!!! Will return!!

PS
I was so wrapped up with how great the food was, I forgot the best part... the staff! they were great...very friendly. It was a good ole "home feeling" like setting. Our waiter, BB, was great! Actually, he was what every person in the food service industry should be like...friendly, attentive, and all in general, a great server! So, ask for BB when you go!

I had just flown into New Orleans for a marathon in mississippi and I was staying at a hotel near the airport and I saw Michelle's across the road. I was starving and it was thanksgiving night so I had limited options. I give 5 stars to the staff. They were very attentive and friendly and among the best I have met at any restaurant. For being stuck working on a holiday, I could not have more gracious comments.

I was thinking seafood but the server convinced me to go with the thanksgiving plate. I am not a big gravy fan and there was lots on my plate. The string beans wrapped in bacon was a great treat. I just wish a slice of pumpkin pie or other dessert had come with the meal.

Just for the treatment by the staff, I highly recommend Michelle's.

Service was terrible and the waiters are rude and the food was sub par at best. We were asked if we enjoyed our food we responded that the experience was not to our liking. We were given a shrug and told its like that sometimes. I have never been so insulted or disrespected in a service environment before. I just hope that our food was not ill prepared or tampered with in a harmful way. I would not recommend that anyone eat at this establishment.

My mom had an incredible Mahi-mahi crusted with macadamia nuts and topped with a mango salsa. She eats everywhere and was raving about this place, so I'd pay attention!
