Really great carnitas burrito on my first trip.  Nice crispy gordita too, and I like the sauces.  I'll go back next time I'm in the neighborhood.

This place is a gem. I was totally shocked to find that this place had legitimately delicious food. The chips and salsa were super tasty but it was the refried beans that were out of this world. I'm pretty sure the beans are chock full of lard (it had chucks of carnitas in it) but it was delicious. I shared a carnitas plate. It was a sizable plate of food with more beans and delicious homemade tortillas.

Good job yelpers! I'll be back.

Great food at great prices. A few flies lingering around but not a huge deal.

This was a great discovery this year.  We had heard from locals about this place and wanted to try it, but it seems last summer we never found the time.  So far we have been twice.  I liked my dish so much, the Enchiladas Rojas, that I have ordered it twice.  Even my husband ended up ordering that the second time we visited.  It is very different from any other places I have had enchiladas.  On top they place this fresh cheese, I think it is Cotija and some roasted potatoes.  I think any time you add extra carbs to anything it makes it better. This dish was delicious.

    FOOD PILGRIMAGE GOOD!
I can't believe I haven't written a review for this place yet!  The CARNITAS are the most amazing I've had anywhere.  Don't let the sports bar ambiance put you off - this is the real thing.
My husband had enchiladas or something that he said was great but I was so immersed in my meal I didn't notice.

To be honest, I am rating this 5 stars simply for the CARNITAS.  They may quite possibly be the best on the planet outside of Mexico.  Perhaps even in Mexico.  You know when you look in the kitchen and there are three abuelitas, poking at a giant copper pot with a big stick, that there is some awesomeness being cooked up. The owner has long been a fixture on the local festival & fair circuit, always with the longest lines outside his booth.

I always have either one of three things: two gorditas, a torta, or a burrito.  I could write a sonnet about the gorditas: the perfectly crisp corn shell is homemade, and is stuffed with carnitas slathered with queso fresco, jalapenos, onions, and pickled carrots .  The torta, which is basically the same as a gordita but on a big, soft Mexican torta bun and also slathered with bean paste and avocado.  The burrito is the closest I've been able to find from my old days haunting the lowest, sketchiest taquerias in San Francisco's mission district in my 20's. They make it exactly how you want it, don't skimp on anything, and if the carnitas are in there it doesn't really matter what else is in there, but it is consistently amazing.

My husband always gets the enchiladas, which are really unique - while I am a fan of the carnitas, he is a die hard fan of the pollo adobado, which is also out-fricking-standing.  The enchiladas are filled with this chicken, and then covered in all sorts of vegetables, cheese, and a red sauce.  Several friends have been swayed by the lure of the enchilada over my beloved gorditas.  So be it.

Always get the green salsa, which I've tried to reverse engineer and failed repeatedly. As the other reviewer pointed out, I think maybe they have unicorn horn dust or something in there, because I simply can't get enough.  If my substandard white-girl digestive system could handle it, I'd put their green salsa on everything I eat.

It must also be called out that the service, while occasionally slow, is always so sweet and down-home.  I love places where the staff remembers me, knows I like an amber Dos Equis, and that I cannot get enough of their salsa. It's a family joint, and always a cross section of the diverse citizens of the Columbia Gorge. They are long time fixtures in our little hamlet of Odell and we locals need them to be here for years to come.  I am so grateful that our only restaurant is also the BEST Mexican food in town!

What a fucking find this place is. Thanks to the guy pouring at Viento wines (always trust the locals), we scored a table at this very locals-oriented joint for lunch, and we were not disappointed in the least.

First off, don't be fooled. This is not the kind of sports bar where you're going to catch the midday baseball game. It's a Mexican restaurant with one TV and that TV is tuned to futbol. And while they serve beer, that's it. No booze. It's also on the dark, dingy and dirty side. This is not a place that you'll find on the Fruit Loop tourist map, this is where the locals eat.

With that out of the way, you only need to know one other thing about Michoacan - CARNITAS. They are famous for their carnitas (at least locally famous). Carnitas is one of the tastiest ways to eat pig, and Michoacan does their carnitas right.

Go for the carnitas torta. Their bread is made in-house each day, the guac is hand-made, the carnitas are incredible and the rest of the sandwich is divine. For $6, you're getting a hell of a deal. Throw on a side of beans and rice if you're really hungry - they're also awesome here. The green sauce has angel dust in it (or possibly crack - either way it's bomb). after scoring one of these bad boys, I'm not sure why I'd ever eat anywhere else in the area ever again. Drool-worthy.

Also tasty are the tacos with hand-made tortillas (although on the day we went the tortillas were a tad chewy). The vegetarian options are pretty much nil. They do have some fish tacos for the pescetarians, and your general compliment of Mexican meats (plus Menudo on Sundays), but if you're foregoing the carnitas torta, you're making a big mistake hombre.

This is a great place outside of Hood River in Odell.  If your heading up to the mountain or back from a long day of skiing you have got to try it out.  My personal favorite is the Carne Asada Gorditas.  Two of those will leave you full. My wife enjoys the Quesadillas.
The prices are low and the quality and quantity is great.  This is the best place to eat in Odell.
