Have you ever had one of those meals that was unforgettable? Â Well this is one that I wish I could forget. Â While the people working at Mick's were incredibly friendly, the food was a tremendous example of homecooking, gone wrong.
At first I was concerned with the number of flies in the restaurant and thought they would be a problem when our food finally came to our table, but apparently they knew better than patrons, because they never came close to my plate. Â I only wish I had followed their lead.
Everything on my plate was burned. Â Sausage....burned....eggs...burned....hashbrowns, burned AND undercooked. Â Even the famous scones...BURNED!! Â The best thing we had, was the honey butter which was apparently pre-packaged anyway.
After being highly recommended as the best breakfast in the area, I was very disappointed. Â In fact, it was so bad, that I came home and ate a second breakfast, cooked the right way.
Not many places should receive 5 stars. Mick's delivers constancy and a great value. The food is very good for pennies on the dollar. Don't let the shady building and scary insides fool you. Some of the best places I have eaten look scary. If you all in to ambiance, then I hate you, your never going to like this place.
Go on Thursday to take advantage of the double cheeseburger, fries, drink, and pie. It's a billion calories of ecstasy. Â The buns are made in house (coined best buns on town) along with the fresh cut fries. Beer battered if you wish. The pie is also made fresh and there are many varieties to choose from depending on the season. If you stop in start with the burgers and fries you cant go wrong. Did I mention that combo deal is under $7? Why go to crappy fast food?
FYI. Sometimes the service is slow. But that's expected in small town diners.
