This place has plenty of good reviews and we were in the mood for pizza or burgers and decided to try it out. Most of the restaurants in the little waterfront strip there are decent and/or newer, so I was expecting the same out of this place.
It has much more of a family restaurant vibe than the other places (read: kids and teenagers). Some of the less-used taps taste like they need to be changed. The tables were a little grimy and the entire place could have benefited from a deep cleaning. It wasn't to the point of being disgusting but it was noticeable. The food we had (pizza and a burger) wasn't bad but nothing spectacular and definitely nothing you can't find anywhere else. The service was about what you could expect from a surly late-teens server who probably wanted to be somewhere else that night.
This seems like one of those places that if you like and become a regular, it might grow on you. As there are other, more enjoyable experiences around here, I won't be giving it the chance.
I've been to Mike's quite a few times, and have never been super wowed or let down by them. They do offer delicious thin crust pizza, but Rhombus Guys Pizza (3 minute drive away), is usually my go-to place if I'm in the pizza mood.
Service is decent, but could improved considering they always seem to have more than enough people working behind the counter when I'm there.
Delivery takes about an hour, so if you're looking for something quicker than that, maybe try Dominos.
One thing I do enjoy about Mike's, which I haven't seen anywhere else around Grand Forks, is their ice cream. They offer about 10 different flavors, which usually all look super tasty! This would be a fun stop on a date night after watching a movie at River Cinema right next door!
I've been happy with Mike's every time I've Eaten there. I think their thin crust pizza is quite good and very reasonably priced. They have some interesting topping combination's but the classics, like a good pepperoni are just great.
Their Chicken wings are served with the tips still on the wings. So there are three pieces per wing. It takes a little getting used to, but I found them plump and meaty and worth the work. I had the wing combo: BBQ, Buffalo and Jerk. really good stuff.
I've also had the Pulled pork sandwich. Perfect.
They have a large selection of ice cream served in waffle cones for dessert.
The atmosphere is funky and fun and the staff is friendly and fast.
A pint and a some 'za
East Grand Fork's best pizza place
Ice cream for the brats
(For a pizza place, they actually have a pretty decent selection of NON-pizza items. Â Pretty nice ambiance, and good location. Â Probably not the best pizza in town for the price, but a nice alternative to the other pizza joints. Â A good choice if you have kids, but still want a brew and some 'za.)
