I am from San Diego and have family in Canby. Â Every 4th of July weekend I come to visit and like many, I look for a place I can enjoy a beer or cocktail AWAY from my family. :) my bartender this trip was AWESOME. Running around handling more than one person could handle, and he didn't skip a beat. Service was impeccable and his mixology on target. For Canby, there are not a lot of options. Â This has a dive bar/community bar feel, and I will be back. Next 4th of July.
Review Source:Canby is not a lively city -- the citizens that want a night life head out of town every weekend. The only bar in town seemed to be Mike's Place. On the outside, it looked kind of "rough." Inside, we actually found a well-lit place with a limited but decent beer selection, friendly staff, lots of large TV screens, two well-worn but usable pool tables, and a well-worn but usable table shuffleboard (also known as American shuffleboard, indoor shuffleboard or shufflepuck). There's no charge for using the shuffleboard (not sure about the pool table). If you are stuck in Canby, this is pretty much the only place in town to go for a beer, but it's hardly the bottom of the barrel. Awesome that it's smoke-free! The quality of your time there is probably directly-related to the clientele that evening.
