GREAT food....when you can get service. I come often when in town and the staff is friendly, but service on the whole is absolutely horrible. In fact, I was just in there, sat down and waited 15 minutes...and no one came to the table. I walked across the street to Cracker Barrel. Â What a shame they can't get their act together.
Review Source:This place has been in Lawton since 1989. Â I was happy to find another locally owned place for lunch. Â Mike's is huge and has lots of tables. It wasn't crowded for lunch. Â Our waitress was great - super nice and quick to check on us. Â This is definitely a sports bar - I think there are at least 25 tvs all around the restaurant.
Review Source:Mikes has the coldest beer, least idiots, and best looking girls. A bonus is the food is awesome. They have lots of plasma tv's, two large projectors in the dining room, a projector on their awesome indoor/outdoor patio. They show almost all games and UFC fights. The food is awesome! Mikes is must try if you are in Lawton.
Review Source:As far as bars in Lawton go, this is your best choice. It's a classic sports bar with TVs everywhere. The bartenders are top notch, definitely my fondest memories involve me walking in and the bartender already making my drink when I sat down. It's not overly military as you might expect either.
Review Source:So I have been going to Mike's for a pretty long time now ...about 6 years, and If it wasn't for Buffalo Wild Wings coming into town it might have still been my favorite Sports Bar in town.
Mikes overall is not a bad place to drink some beer towers and watch your favorite games. The food is not that bad, and decently priced as is the beer. The smoking section is divided so as not to interfere with the other patrons, a very nice thing. And there is a nice game room as well.
The downside to Mikes is ....If your not a OU fan (like my self) don't bother going to watch your favorite team play, all the speakers in the restaurant will be turned to that one game and you won't be able to hear anything else but that game. The main projection screen also is poorly position with mulitiple floor to ceiling pilars in the way blocking the view which can be very annoying, along with the beer towers and moving waitresses back and forth in the way
Overall decent sports bar with a just a few minor set backs .....
Mike's Sports Grille has been the only full time sports oriented bar and restaurant in the Lawton area for a long time. After many years of business Mike's is going to be getting some competition from a new Buffalo Wild Wings location opening on Cache Road in June, 2007.
The main restaurant seating area within Mike's is lined with television screens. There is one, large projection screen carrying the most popular sporting event being broadcast. Some of the monitors are used for trivia games.
I would consider upping my three star rating for Mike's to four if at least a few of the television screens were upgraded to HDTV. Any good sports bar should have the capability to show HD quality events from channels like ESPN-HD and the major broadcast networks. Currently Mike's only shows programming in standard NTSC 480i format. HDTV can make a big difference, especially on a large projection screen in front of a crowd. Mike's Sports Grille doesn't carry many pay per view sporting events either. Don't plan a visit there around an upcoming Ultimate Fighting Championship event.
The food at Mike's is pretty good. The portions are large, even for their wide variety of sandwiches.
The bar area is on a slightly elevated platform next to the main dining area. There's a good number of beers on tap and even more of the bottled variety. Several TV monitors line the bar area. The main projection screen in dining area is pretty easy to see from the bar.
Mike's also has a separate gaming room with pools tables back away from the dining and bar area.
Mike's Sports Grille is conveniently located near the Gore Blvd. exit of Interstate 44. It is next door to the Cracker Barrel restaurant. The sports bar is also near Comanche Nation Casino and three large hotels. Word of warning: If you're going to be drinking keep in mind the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Troop G station is nearby. Don't drink and drive.
