My experience at Milano was a little unique in that I went to see a very specific act who was playing there one night. Â
The space itself is pretty nice, with a big open dance floor and some seating around the edges. Â The main dance floor has a serviceable set of lights overhead which provide some cool entertainment whether you're dancing or just hanging out. Â The event itself was 18+, so the bar wasn't open, but they were charging 5 dollars for a bottle of water, which seemed to e a mighty ripoff to me.
The one downside of Milano was that, much like others have mentioned, it got really hot in there. Â I probably downed six or seven bottles of water over the course of 3 hours and I still felt like I was dehyrdrated at the end of the show. Â I still had a good time, but it definitely was a damper on the experience.
All-in-all, Milano was a good place to see a show at, although be sure to come prepared for the heat.
I've come here a couple times now for Freestyle Fridays? Maybe. Flashback Fridays? I'm not sure. All I know is that my friend has spun here both times and I went to support and have some fun with friends.
The main room is large. There is a stage where the dj's/band sets up and plays from. It's hardwood floors, so be careful with spilled drinks and ladies in heels! There is a smaller room and then a patio, where you can hear the music from the smaller room.
The last time that we went, it was really slow. They would have probably been fine with the main room open only. But, it's kind of hard to close that other room, since you have to go through it to get to the patio.
The drinks, IMO are a little on the higher side. So I don't tend to drink too much while visiting this place. But I like the back bar of the small room better than the main room bar. The bartenders seemed friendlier back there...could have been my imagination though. Â
I'm not sure if I'd come here if my friend wasn't spinning. It's a cool spot, BUT who wants to go to a half empty club? Maybe it's different on Saturdays...
A friend and I were all excited and our first time going to this club to experience Strictly Freestyle last friday evening (6/21/2013) only to have the rudest female door collector telling us 1) it's $20 2) had a guest performing but no advertisement given at the door or online 3) for the door lady not knowing who the guest singer was and/or knowing what they sang- ONLY to be told to us- "LOOK IT UP ON YOU TUBE TO FIND OUT WHAT THEY SING!" Come on Milano is this how you treat out of town guests!!!
