A furtive dive bar located amongst some Asian eateries and a well-established Korean market. It's long and narrow and fairly small, considering it has two pool tables but hey-more chances of interactions with strangers. Inside, there was a small, bright aquarium which seemed out of place, as well as signs alerting customers about the cash-only, the bar's drug policy, and the fact that the bartender is always right.
The bartender of the night was fantastic and made a mean sidecar, which tasted authentic. She was also on top of getting our orders and replenishing our beers. The popcorn at the bar was a nice touch but I resisted my munchies because I wasn't drunk enough to not care about the many hands that plowed through that bowl. I played a couple games of $1 pool instead and bought a few rounds when I lost as part of the deal. Good thing the drinks were cheap, not to mention it was happy hour.
Great little dive for when you need a cheap drink. $3.75 for my usual order, a gin and tonic. Lawrence the bartender knows what he's doing - this is one of the few places that I've had a dirty gin martini that tasted good - not overboard with the olive juice, but just enough to take the edge off the gin. Delicious.
Good prices, friendly staff, fun crowd. Sports on the TV's, but it's usually muted. I'm sure they'd turn on the sound if you asked them to!
