Duke of Edinburgh

Biggest problem we had here was parking.  The lot *looks* big enough, but the reality is, sharing the space with several other apparently popular Asian restaurants will find you circling the lot with a lot of other Asian drivers looking for a space.  And we went on Saturday shortly after noon for lunch, so I can only imagine the hell others must go through during peak dinner hours.

The ambiance of the place is very nice and true to the title; my date was reminded of pubs she had visited in Scotland.  That might be because at the time we went, there were some genuine Scots chatting it up at the bar...something I consider a good sign.

I ordered the traditional fish and chips, which had plenty of good hearty meat on them and only got a little oily on the last bit (stick with the two-piece order, as the amount is quite adequate for a filling lunch).  The Irish Smithwick ale was an excellent complement to the food.

My date ordered the bangers and mash, which were nicely seasoned and cooked correctly.  The "gravy" alongside tasted highly alcoholic, but apparently my date was used to it so I can assume that is also genuine, though not to my taste.

I also tried the trifle, which was a pleasant sweet to end the meal, though the ingredients did taste like they were canned.

Service was pleasant and correct, though since we went at lunch there was hardly anyone in the place.

TVs are present, and was (unsurprisingly) showing soccer games.

This place is definitely worth a try, and somewhere I'd come back to.  Just be patient when looking for parking.

Below average food. i never had such a bad food.

Good fish and chip food is authentic to me better than my expection . recommended
