I tried the Broasted Chicken this time and I was not disappointed! It was juicy, delicious and served hot! We also got the onion rings which are some of the best iv'e ever had if not THE best! I sampled the meatloaf and it is the most tender i've ever had! The smoked turkey sandwich has also always been a fav here for me! Check this place out if you like good home cooked food!

Lunchtime Buffet Review.   If you have no time limit.   This is not a bad place for lunch.  I have gone quite a few times now. 4+  The friend chicken is always great,  depending on the day the menu changes on the buffet.  The food is usually always fresh and hot. while being prepared with fresh ingredients.  Now that being said they would have 4 or 5 stars but the service is HORRIBLE.   I have waited 15 minutes before aftering being finished waiting for my check.  Not that they are busy but they are talking. The wait staff seems to be younger female college students, who can stand and talk to people at the bar, and then laugh and walk off on their phone,  I have avoided going back a few times because I did not have the time to waste on the horrible service.

Again food is great, this is for lunch time only,   It is the service that reduces my stars

I really don't care that people say this is some time honored family place and blahblahblah. It was disgusting, burnt, and had HORRIBLE service to boot. This is really the condensed version of our 'experience', as I wouldn't want to take the time with this shit hole to write a book of how bad it sucked. Never, ever again.

As a side note, when our food was put in front of us. It was burned and appeared to be a scary mess. We told the server that we will gladly tip him for the lack of service and pay for our soda's. We then left.

Zero stars would still exceed our experience.

I feel like i should rate one star just to drop down their rating as it is way to high for this place.
I went with my son after doing a little yelping on a nearby place.
When you walk into the place, you are not pleasantly surprised. The place owns the title "road house" as it's really like a giant bar that happens to have a lot of seating and serve food.
The place is clearly low budget when you walk in. From the cheap table clothes on the tables to the staff all wearing "got chicken?" t-shirts.

I had "the" chicken and my son had an 8oz prime rib.
The prime rib was actually decent. I just happen to love prime rib and we got an 8oz piece fairly rare so that was good - the only good.

    My dining experience-
None of the staff members smiled once (I took a mental note as I was thinking these are not happy people)
My server 9didn't catch his name) really made us feel awkward. Almost as if it was closing time but it was only 6:30.

My meal started with a salad. It was your classic iceberg lettuce salad with a little plastic disposable cup of dressing. - not enough dressing but i didn't care that much.

When my chicken arrived, it was on a plate with mashed potatoes and gravy, and coleslaw. The coleslaw came in a little disposable cup as well and the 4 bites of it that I had were decent.

The cravy did have an interesting flavor. I can't say it was bad or good but it wasn't what I'd consider normal. Some strange overpowering spice in it I couldn't put my finger on.

    now the chicken-
I order the chicken because of fellow yelpers speaking so highly of it.
The chicken was FRIED. I don't care what they call it (broasted, roasted, etc), it was clearly fried chicken.
It reminding me of fried chicken you'd get at a grocery store buffet that had been sitting under a heat lamp for a while.
The skin should be crispy with fried chicken but it was soggy with oil.

Halfway during out meal, the server came around and took our salt and pepper shakers - I thought that was odd at 7PM but whatever.

I would agree with the other reviewers that you do get plenty of food.
I'm starting to believe the portion size of food to a lot of people has a tendency to wash away their taste buds. You can't rate a place high based on portions.

Millard is not known as a ritzy part of town and folks around here don't tend to travel outside of Nebraska much. That's the only reasoning I can think of why people would rate this place high.
I wish Yelp would through some questions at reviewers and ask them if they've eaten at more than just village Inn's and bars before they are allowed to write rave reviews.

Until then, i shall continue to be tricked by locals believing that their local place is the best on the planet

In closing- save your money, eat at KFC. - at least you can get vegetables there!

Always great chicken and the service is nice.  Don't let them sit you in the Cornhusker room unless you REALLY like football junk.  The manager or owner seems to be on the floor a lot.  I'm sure that helps.  If you have any kind of issues with fried food, might not be the best place to visit.

Millard Roadhouse (nee' Stockade) is a great locally-owned eatery. Excellent chicken and other dishes. Never had a bad meal there!

I wish I would have come here sooner. Food was great! My husband had the club sandwich. Had lots of juicy meat on it and he said it was great.  Daughter got the broasted 3 drumstick meal. She loved it too. I had a bite of it and I'll be getting the broasted chicken next time we go. I ordered the chicken fried steak with mashed and cream gravy. So yummy. Perfect crispyness on the meat. Everything had excellent flavor. The biscuits were the best I've ever eaten. I was able to eat them with nothing on it, though I did dip it in my gravy.

Ate the buffet with my dad. Good choice but well picked over. He enjoyed it but I freaked out how old the food was from sitting.

All the other reviews hit it on the head. All 3 of us ordered the chicken, with the twice baked patatoes and bisket. It was all great! Great service and the manager even came around asking us how the food was. The place was very busy. Only reason we found this place was because of Yelp, and we're glad we went. 5 star to ya!

Wow Omaha, you rock for this place alone! True midwest comfort food...buffet style. I dropped in for lunch and had a few massive plates of broasted chicken, mash, gravy, sausage & kraut.  They do have veggies, but, well, that would take up too much room on my plate. I couldn't even make it to dessert, although the brownies looked awesome. It was the best $8 I've spent this trip!

I'll be back Millard, but next time I'm wearing my eatin' pants.

Can't say anything much about the food, except that the cheese fries were just the kind of free day item you sometimes really want to make the day 'worth it' (FXB people, you know what I mean).

The beer prices through totally floored me. $2 pints at 5pm on a Saturday? If I lived in Millard I'd probably be here every week!

I don't think you should be allowed to write a review here unless you've had the chicken! Definitely the best in town, with homemade mashed potatoes and gravy. Everything is very fresh. I'll admit, I've only tried their chicken but it's so good I don't want to try anything else. They also seem to have great happy hour specials on the weekdays. I'm still trying to figure out what it is (if you know it, please share.)

Millard Roadhouse came about BEFORE people started to care about the fact that 10,000 calories a day was a bad thing. I frequently visited this establishment after Millard Days and have never experienced regret here. There are several good qualities here:

    1. GOOD FOOD - Definitely comfort food. You won't leave hungry, or without eating three days' worth of food. To help ensure this, they set up a brunch bar on Sunday with some of the best bacon and potatoes I've had in my life. Half of the buffet is salad stuff, but they conveniently place part of it out of sight of the diners. Plus, why settle for salads when there are several other decent items? By the way, their famous broasted chicken is available here.

    2. GOOD SERVICE - Friendly staff is what makes the experience more enjoyable. My glass of lemonade was never empty thanks to them checking up so often.

    3. CLEAN RESTAURANT - No visible trash, crumbs, or anything that might make a visit unpleasant.

Without even ONE of these attributes, the Millard Roadhouse would just be a McDonalds with an arcade room. Fortunately, this is not true and I will continue doing business with them, especially with the decent prices. Not shockingly inexpensive, but fair enough to not drive me away.

Best fried chicken in town!!   Ok,  technically it's broasted but either way it is yummy!   Try it with the twice baked or the mashed potatoes with the brown gravy, my husband swears by the gravy and likes to dip his biscuit in it.

This place has quite a selection of so-called comfort food.  The atmosphere is that of a long-time restaurant (lots of antique-style metal signs, TV's, etc).  The food is very good here.  I recently ordered their shrimp louie, and for being a restaurant not known for their seafood, it was a very good salad.  Their onion rings are superb, and the ranch dressing they serve alongside them is always homemade and tasty.  Their chicken fried chicken sandwich is also very good.  The service is adequate as well.

    I don't like Millard...

City planners who think running their roads at 45 degree angles is somehow artistic should have a special room in hell.

When I can remember how to find this place I really enjoy bringing my family here.

They have great food and a nice game room (ok, they have air hockey and a couple other things - but they have air hockey!).

After a yummy cuban sandwich nothing is sweeter then beating my 10 year old son at a couple of games of air hockey!

This is an authentic version of what crapplebee's tries to be...An all american neighborhood bar and grill.  Great comfort food.  Try the chicken friend chicken with a twice baked potato and a root beer.
