The place exemplifies the quality of restaurants in Lakeland. Service was OK. Very slow, but nice. The waitress was somewhere in her late 20's early 30's, had maybe 3 tables and still was struggling to bring us refills when we needed.

It was Fathers Day when we went, because all of the restaurants we wanted to go were jam packed and we have a 3 yr old that was not gonna wait for 1 1/2 hrs for a seat. The first thing they did was hand me a "Fathers Day Special" menu and if you order something off this menu you get a free beer.... well it was a free Miller product, of course and on top of that it was a 10oz mug.

Like an idiot, I fell for the surf n turf special for 25 bux. Knowing all along that it would be hit or miss. I figured for the dads they would at least try to make it decent... uhhhh no... the steak was a 1/4 inch briquette of shoe leather.  The lobster tail was like eating silly putty and the mashed potatoes were obviously out of a box. My wife ordered the chicken nachos and when it came out we thought it was made for all of us. It consisted of what looked like a whole bag of restaurant style chips(from Sams Club) a very small amount of  frozen shredded chicken(from Sams) a little bit of shredded cheese and a bunch of not very tasty salsa.

I will say one thing positive about Millers Ale House. My daughter ordered the grilled cheese with fries. She ate most of it and my wife and I ate the rest, because our food was not palatable.

All in all, we paid 60 something bux for OK service, a Miller lite and a grilled cheese.

The beer and loaded fries are the only redeeming items at this place. The last visit the Ossobuco plate (pork shank) was cold and mashed potatoes watery and bland.  How can you screw up mashed potatoes?  Even frozen dinners get those right!  The shrimp on a previous visit was terrible,  but I should know better than to order seafood at a chain restaurant.   I've been to this place several times and have never finished what I'd ordered due to the food being poor.   McDonald's is fine dining compared to Ale Houses!

We love going here to hang out and chill, drink and enjoy food. But last night (Friday) the place was packed. We found two spots at the bar and had drinks and ordered potstickers to start with. After a very long time we got the potstickers. They were almost cold, but we were hungry, woolfed them down and order fish taco's. When the taco's finally came out, they too were almost cold. The 'fish' turned out to be three tiny slivers of fish, hardly any sauce or filling in the taco's. The soft taco's were dried out and hard ( probably microwaved). Not what we were used to at this place.
I think it was too busy for the kitchen. They were overwhelmed and could not manage so many people.
We have been coming here a lot, but this really was pretty lousy! :-S

Millers Ale House is a bar that serves food, In other words its bar food, expect nothing more and you will be fine.

My wife and I went here for the first time a few months ago and have been going back  (and getting take out) ever since! The salads are good, the desserts are great and the zingers are the best! We have gotten the Zinger Mountain Melt (medium garlic sauce) as take-out so many times! And their beer battered onion rings are delicious!

The only problem we've ever run into is that the one time my wife got crab legs they weren't as meaty as other places. But considering the other good eating experiences we have had there I can't complain!

Pretty typical sports bar, good food for the price, friendly bartenders.

ZINGERS! I always have to visit the Ale House when I visit my friends in Florida! Zingers and Yuengling!! This is a great sports bar and grill in Florida. Always consistent with the food and the service. My favorite meal here is Zingers and Cheese Fries ( or a Zinger Mountain Melt if your eating alone). Great for late night food and there is always sports on the TVs!

Great prices and consistent food. That's about all you can ask for these day's. We eat here often. Service is quick. Standard bar food

I came here with a group of about 6 people on a Sunday afternoon, and despite the parking lot being full and the place being quite busy, we were able to sit down right away.  The atmosphere was pretty loud, but that's to be expected at this type of venue, and it wasn't so loud that I couldn't hear what my party was saying.

I probably would have given this place 4 stars... except that our waitress just wasn't that outstanding.  She wasn't personable with us AT ALL and she wasn't on top of keeping our drinks filled, or even just periodically checking up on us.  When we asked about the "specialty menu" she didn't seem happy about it.  Maybe she was just having an off day, and I certainly don't blame Miller's for the faux pas, but it was enough to knock the place down a star.

The food was delicious, and I definitely recommend it to anyone interested in going!  Most of my group ordered fish and we all enjoyed it.  Nothing spectacular, but not bad either.

I have been to the "Ale House" 5 or 6 times and mostly in large groups from work...We were tables of between 10 and 20 people and chose to be seated on the "porch" to accomodate the size of the party and the smokers. Huge parties with seperate checks are a pain in the ass..I was a waiter for years and I know, but our server astonished me. She worked that group so professionally that we all commented on how great a job she had done. She was rewarded accordingly!! The food was above average and there were orders from every category on the menu (also a pain in the ass for the kitchen) but everything was hot,and the cold items were cold...and the server refilled cocktails and non alcoholic beverages often...I have been to nearly all of the restaurants in Lakeland in this middle of the road category and this place is tops for service and food...As we speak,we are planning another retirement party from work and we plan to go there...great place...keep up the good work!!

I was really hungry and found this place while riding around Lakeland.  I went in with high hopes and left basically disappointed.  I ordered 10 hot wings and these were ok but a little too greasy.  I then ordered the dinner size Coconut Shrimp (10) with coleslaw and one side.  I ordered the onion rings which cost extra and the server raved about.  The meal came out minus the coleslaw and it never made it to the table.  The onion rings were soft and limp which are something OR are not supposed to do.  I only ate a few.  The shrimp were okay at best and lacked much of a coconut taste.  Compared to Outback or even Red Lobster these CS are not even close.  Even the Plum sauce was okay at best.  I likely will not return.

As I read the reviews and hear the debates about whether this restaurant is "trendy" or not, and whether those who like it are "yokels," I realize that it's time to set expectations clearly about this restaurant.

This is a sports bar and grill, a neo-pub, a loud, raucous, party-atmosphere kind of chain. When the game's on, folks cheer and scream and drink lots of beer, and on Friday night, the kids shark pool and the grownups sip their golden liquid tranquilizers and the working folks to the county mellow together. This is where you're going, if you're going to a venue that advertises itself as an "ale house." Do not come to the circus and complain that it's not opera. Do not buy tickets for a horror film and complain that it was too scary and bloody. Do not read one of my reviews and expect me to to say in ten words what could be said in a hundred.

This is an ale house. Whether that's "yokel" or "trendy" is up to you, but this is an ale house. Wood everywhere, televisions ringing the upper vault of heaven's gate, raining colorful light and sports stories down upon your friends, noise and boisterous energy. This is an ale house. If you wanted fine dining, Louie Mack's is just across the lot.

Need I say it again? This is an ale house.

Appetizers are plentiful and bad for you. The nachos, in particular, could feed an army, so take the warning on the menu seriously. Simple, straightforward pub fare, nothing too fancy, but it's not there to impress you, it's there to fill you. The mozzarella sticks also stand out, as they're immense bricklike slabs of cheese rolled in bread crumbs, but again, this is good stomach-filler and tastebud-waker fare.

The entrees are pub favorites, burgers, chicken, a blackened prime rib sandwich on garlic bread that's quite nice, if a bit heartburn-inducing. Do try the ossobuco, which is a very pleasant menu surprise and quite flavorful. The boneless wings, called Zingers, are a chain tradition, but now that these battered nuggets are ubiquitous and plentiful, there's nothing special about theirs except that they're just plain good. The seafood dishes, while not my thing, are a favorite of my wife's, and the portions are aggressive enough to make most guests very happy. I found their flatiron steak pleasant enough, but again, nothing epic.

A surprise favorite sandwich is the generous Big Red, a breaded buffalo chicken breast on a bun that's really quite satisfying.

The signature dessert's an ice cream cake (Captain Jack's Buried Treasure) that's pretty straightforward, ice cream, fudge, caramel, an Oreo-like crust, but again, one doesn't come to an ale house venue for surprises, does one? I find the desserts a bit intensely sweet and overpowering, but again, that's true of most pubs. The flavors tend to be cranked up to eleven, and folks who like that will enjoy the desserts here.

Service is high-energy, friendly and fun, and I haven't had a bad experience yet. I don't drink, so I can't tell you much about their bar, but from the happy whoops and chugs I hear, they're keeping the locals happy enough.

Heavier folks beware, the booths can be a bit narrow. If you're concerned, ask for a hightop.

I find the very notion of this place being "trendy" or not kind of ridiculous -- tastes differ, and what constitutes "trendy" to one person is another person's "yokel," as the reviews here demonstrate. Is it trendy? Who knows. I don't judge "trendy." I judge food. This is an ale house, and it serves well in this role

Please don't mistake my metered praise for a condemnation. This is a fine neo-pub and a good place to grab a familiar bite of classic stomach-pleaser favorites, and yes, it has a few really nice surprises on the menu. I wanted to give it a 3.5 star rating; it's a bit ahead of the center of the curve, it has a few standout entrees and great service, but part of its charm is that it's a basic, straightforward sports pub.

This is, as I keep saying, an ale house. It knows what it is, it does it well, and I have a good time every time I visit. Set your expectations, and noise tolerance, accordingly, gear up for simple filling pub fare, and don't expect a San Francisco microbrewery/gastropub, and I don't think you'll be disappointed at all.

We went for dinner on Friday night. This was my first experience at the Ale House. I ordered the Flat Iron Steak and Shrimp. I thought the steak was cooked perfectly and had great flavor. The shrimp were very tasty as well. Our server, Brittany, was very friendly and helpful.

I liked the sports bar atmosphere and the TVs around the bar area. I would recommend the Ale House to my friends.

I have been to Miller's Ale House three times. Twice we sat inside and once we were seated inside. The first time we went I thought, "Hey! This place rocks and rolls! Check out all of the TVs! Man, I am so cool to be here!!! w00t! w00t!" The second time I was like, "Jeez, those TVs are damned loud! I can't hear myself think!" The third time I was like, "OMG, get me outta here!"

The food is nothing to get excited about, unless Hooters and Ker's WingHouse is your idea of fine dining. It is passable for a sports bar, but nothing more. I won't be heading back.

This is a chain, and a pretty piss poor one at that.

The food is terrible, you might be able to get away eating some appetizers, anything beyond that your going to get a garbage meal.

Its a trendy hangout for yokels, some even rate this as their favorite place to eat. These kind of people also think Outback is a "expensive" & "high-end" dining establishment.

3 visits marginal to poor service every time.

I give them and extra star because their drink specials are decent, and they actually have a few beers on tap other than Bud, Bud Light, Miller Lite and MGD. They also have a exceptional bartender, his name is escaping me at the moment, who actually practices the art of the buy back that is very hard to find in the south.

I was not so enthused as Norman.  While it's "in" for revelers, this also means noise and crowds.  High table seating was very uncomfortable for us.  Food was mediocre (made me ill, actually) and it's like any other "bar spot"--I equate it to Bennigans, Ruby Tuesday, or Applebee's menus.  Parking is odd--and it's just too close to Louie Mack's or The Palace to make me want to choose this option.  Just not into sports bars--especially with no "food catch".
