Beware: WIFI ONLY AVAILABLE IN THE LOBBY AND POOL AREA!
I booked this hotel from http://booking.com because it was stated "free wifi in all areas" plus they allowed to have 4 people in the room without charging much extra and it came with free breakfast as well. Unfortunately, upon arrival, I was told that wifi ONLY works in the Lobby and Pool area. The guy said, "Don't ask me why it only works in the pool and the lobby, I have no idea". Bummer! Very disappointed indeed, but at 3am, I just needed a place to crash and complained later.
The room was just whatever and the AC kept making noises every night. It felt like the thing could just come down from the wall at any time. The bed was alright, pretty firm, but we found an almond on top of the bed sheet when we checked in. Fortunately, the bed were all clean, we thoroughly check it before we sleep on it.
It's located one hour away from Yosemite National Park entrance and I chose this place because compared to other cities nearby, this is the only one with great food options. However, if you intend to spend more than a day at Yosemite, I wouldn't recommend this place as it's too far away from the entrance and the road is only 2 lanes, 1 in and 1 out. The motel offers a bus to get you to Yosemite for $12/pp roundtrip, but it takes 2 hours each way, pretty crazy.
All in all, this place was bang on budget. The breakfast options were pretty good as well, so I'm one pretty satisfied customer, other than that AC noise issue.
First of all, this place is now called the 140 Roadhouse or something like that. Â We've eaten there many times over the past 8 years. Â It was never anything to write home about, but the meals were better than cooking at home on a hot night. Â I understand that the ownership has recently changed, and apparently this hasn't been a good thing for customers. Â
We ate there last night and were shocked to see the difference. Â The hamburger steak (and I use the term loosely) was no more than 1/8 inch thick. Â It appeared to be the kind that is frozen. Â It was burned, to boot. Â My hamburger meat was the same. Â Only 3 salad dressings are now offered, so if you want Italian, forget about it.
On top of it, our waitress was snippy; chastised me when I ordered something that had been partially crossed off the menu: Â You obviously didn't read the menu very well!" Â
With so many good restaurants in Mariposa, there is no need to pay big money for crappy food and nastiness from the waitress.
Never again, Miner's Inn. Â You've seen the last of us.
Last night we had the unfortunate experience of eating at Miner's Inn. Â We have been there several times throughout the past 10 years and it as always been "just okay", but last night was awful. Â Several of the people in our party had hamburgers and I swear they were worse than Burger King burgers. Â You could practically see through the patty. Â There was only one waitress in the place and she was tired to say the least. Â It was not cheap either. Â
Mariposa might not have many restaurants, but if you are visiting please try Sugar Pine or Savorys.
