A dive, but a homey dive & pretty cool place. Had a pool table that only works intermittently & a dart board. Live music. LOTS of beer. Juke box. Stuff I look for in a place like that.

One complaint: 1st two drinks I was served (whiskey sour & a gin & tonic) were badly watered down, esp the sour. When I had them again, they were fine. Two diff bartenders.

I've been to this place a couple times, which is saying a lot since I Iive in Georgia. At any rate, these wings are SOOO GOOD. And I am not a wing person, so, once again: saying a lot. I've had the Chili Lime and Sweet Chili, as well as the Teriyaki. The Sweet Chili was my favorite, but the Chili Lime was also very good.

According to my friend (the one who lives in Buffalo and frequents this bar at any hour), the taste of the wings depends on who is cooking that night. And that night, we had a good cook, so the wings proved to blow up my expectations of wings.

The atmosphere of the place is super divey. Smokey, dark, usually pretty busy. Kind of comfy, and very much the kind of place a lot of locals go to. It has that kind of vibe that almost everyone knows each other, so when you settle in, you feel right at home.

Best beer selection in Buffalo.  Constantly rotating 30 taps. Most of the bartenders have a pretty good knowledge of beer (if you go in before 10, after 10 they are really good at pouring pitchers of rolling rock and jack and cokes). They have an awesome beer club every month and the bar organizes great beer events always open to beer enthusiasts. And the prices remain extremely affordable for the beer they have. You have to check out the cask fest!! Great bar with most sport events and awesome beer.

I actually met my husband here back in the eighties, we recently went back for our anniversary and not much has changed. We went there on a Friday night and they had a very good band playing they were called "twin city queens" or something like that. We had a great time.
Overall good drinks, great music and unforgettable memories.

I think it's a mark of this place that it's the only hangout I actually got to visit when I returned home to Buffalo for Christmas. The place is dark and dingy and I swear to god that it's perfect for what I want it to be: a dark, dingy bar with enough TV's to get my sports fix. Probably one of the best pure bars I've been to in Buffalo they have shockingly good beer at affordable prices.

Went here for happy hour on a Friday night. When we arrived it was pretty empty, however I should note we got here before 5pm so it was still early. As the evening went on the bar did fill up a bit more. The staff was friendly and quick on service. The beer menu left something to be desired - a pumpkin beer would have been nice, it is that time of year after all! I settled on a cider which was ok, but also would have liked a little more selection for cider, too. My friends who are big beer snobs had trouble finding something hoppy enough, too. Me, I don't care for the hoppy and they definitely know more about beer than I do so I'm not as difficult to please. One big plus were their prices. I bought 4 beers/ciders, 1 mixed drink and 6 shots for $30 (including tip). Can't beat that with a stick! I also liked that the music was loud enough to hear but not so overwhelmingly loud you had to shout over it. Overall a decent place to enjoy a few drinks after work!

Now I don't normally go to Goodbar as Cole's is right next door and that is usually where I head to if I am in Forest Elmwood area. But Cole's was actually closed when I went to go there last week, so I headed into Goodbar. Probably only my second maybe third time ever going in the place but after looking around I asked myself why is that.

The place is actually not to shabby. I mean it's a dive bar, but I actually enjoy a good dive bar. They have good beers on tap, and are a bit cheaper than Cole's next door. And way more open space. They have bar games like pool and darts. Some live music on some night's and room f or dancing. Little patio area outside. Basically everything you want from a bar.

Next time I am in the area you might see me save a couple bucks by going here instead of Cole's.

Yeah, Goodbar is good. I've been an occasional patron over the past 15 years...yep, now I feel old...but have been a regular the past couple years, since I moved into the neighborhood.
The staff and bartenders are always friendly (tipping goes a long way folks), and the people that frequent this establishment can vary from all ages and backgrounds.  Which is a good thing, because it has something for everyone and a unique charm all it's own. Cool looking old wood carved bar, pool tables, dart boards, front patio, great music, cheap but good beer, and urinal trough in the men's bathroom round out the divey bar scenery.  The best night to go is Fridays; they have $1 off all micro and import pints all day and night.  And they have pretty good live bands that play upstairs, sometimes downstairs.  Also, happy hour is great for free wings!
Sabres/Bills games are fun as well....as long as we're winning!

If you like dive bars, this place is great. I don't like dive bars (but I really wanted to try their chicken wings), so I came here with a bunch of friends. As I entered, I observed really, really, really drunk people having fun. That involved "dancing" (stumbling), shrieking and slurred conversation. I prefer 'dancing' that is more close to dancing than stumbling and don't really enjoying hearing people shriek, but hey I don't judge. It's great to see people have fun.

It was a Wednesday night and there was stand-up comedy upstairs. The first guy started off his routine by hitting on all the girls in the front row and I was pretty jealous of his job. He was hitting on the women AND getting laughs! How cool is that? The second guy made a lot of grandma and Facebook jokes that I didn't particularly find funny, but then the wings came out and OH PAPA -- they were great! We ordered them extra crispy and they did not disappoint.

40 wings came to be about $41 and the spicy barbecue wings are to die for. They really rival some of the touristy places that 'invented wings' (Duff's and Anchorbar) and are local and dive-y (whatever that means). Heck, I don't even know. I just know they tasted great. I won't be back here on my own accord, but if I'm hosting friends who love dive bars and great wings, I'll definitely bring them here.

Goodbar proves that it is possible to be a dive bar while having clean bathrooms, friendly staff and a killer beer selection.  Great patio, spacious bar, pool tables, dart boards and a stage for live music and other events.

All that is great but what makes Goodbar one of my favorite bars is their amazing tap beer selection - huge and varied, featuring many craft brews including local breweries.  The prices are spot on - the same beer that costs $8 at a "nicer" bar down the street will cost you half that at Goodbar.  My bill for two craft beers (including the pricey Ommegang) came to $8.50.  My friend drank 4 craft beers for under $20.

Not sure what type of beer you want? The bartenders are friendly and willing to let you sample the beer.

Of interest: they have a beer club.  You pay a certain amount and once a month you come in for a tasting event usually with free food pairings.

I hope this bar always remains a dive bar - it's one of its charms.

Probably my favorite bar in Buffalo, NY. The people who work there are great, from the bouncers to the bar backs. Everyone there loves to talk sports, and can talk for minutes or hours. The place has over 30 beers on tap and have one of the best selections in Buffalo if not THE best.

One Wednesday night a month the owner has a beer club with a different theme every month. It does cost 25.00 but you drink for 3 hours and they also provide some snacks as well at the end. It's worth the price, you get more beer than $25 that's for sure.

The open mic comedy they have is also great. You'll find a lot of local funny people who test out their material upstairs to the crowd and their peers. If you like a good laugh, this is a great place to go for it. It helps when there's not many places in Buffalo to get them too.

Overall, you're spending a lot less money here than most bars in Buffalo, and the place gets packed. The bartenders do a lot of great work, and will pour you a nice one, just remember to tip well too these guys deserve it more than anyone else in Buffalo!

Now, as a college student, I have only been to Mr. Goodbar for a few beers here and then. However, one night the girls and I were starving so we decided to stop by and try some of their food.

    One word : AMAZING.

It was totally unexpected that a bar would have such amazing and well-put together meals. I have stopped by for food ever since then and you should too.

    Their wraps are divine.

It's a Bar, and it's Good, so thus the name.  But I went on St. Patrick's Day, and the place wasn't too packed.  But it's a bar.  There isn't much to say about it, other than I am starting to feel REALLY old!!

Make no mistake, Goodbar is a total dive, but it has one of the best beer selections in Buffalo. Their wings are spot-on, never-frozen, and cooked to crispy perfection with many options for sauces. The scene can be hit or miss; some nights its packed to the gills with college kids making a trip to the bar near impossible, while other nights it is a calmer scene. It's a great place to watch sporting events, but it is not an ideal atmosphere for everyone. They usually have decent live bands on the weekends as well.

One of the divest bars I've ever been to and certainly one of the best!

We were in town to sample Buffalo's bestest treats: beer and wings, and Mister Goodbar has both of them.

I can't remember how different beers you can get on drafts but they've got plenty. All of them are top quality stuff.

Our wings weren't previously frozen and not overdone. With a choice of two sauces (Chilli-Lime and BBQ) we ate small pounds of good winged goodness.

The jukebox played amazing tunes, some of which I haven't heard for some time.

The overall atmosphere was golden: a truly down-to-earth, relaxed spot that invites people of all ages to hang out at. Mister Goodbar can't do no wrong in my books.

Amazing beer selection and equally amazing wings!!!

The current owner Bobby is a huge beer fan and really knows his beers. In addition to the normal Blue, Bud Light and Rolling Rock, there's also about 30 micro-brews on tap. Bobby tries his best to have them all be different styles so theres a TON of variety. There's also a beer club every second wednesday of the month and beer club cards that give you a dollar off of all pints and when you drink 10, your 11th is free!

Food is all deep fried but they don't mind of you bring your own food in. The wings are my favorite!!! Besides the normal, hot-medium-mild flavors they have about 10 specialty sauces that are nothing short of amazing. Try out the creole or cajun stout.

In addition to the beer and amazing wings, Goodbar has free food and live music every Friday for happy hour. There's also original local music or a DJ every weekend and sometimes during the week.

Overall, Goodbar offers great beer, great wings and nice folks to enjoy them with.

All I remember is some ridiculously cheap ($5?) pitchers of Rolling Rock.  How a place like this makes money is beyond me.

Laid back college bar. No pretentiousness or snootiness, just good people, cheap drinks, and lotsa beer.

    - They got a punch card! By 10 craft beers get one free!!
    - Cheap prices - they don't ding ya just cuz they're a bar
    - Big beer selection - but they had no idea what Kokanee was... I miss the NW....
    - Kinda dirty and it's dim/dark, but that's also part of the appeal
    - Good outdoor patio
    - They do have free food nights, only had the soup, but it was tasty
    - It's the combo of good prices, good selection, and laid back people that make it worthwhile - When you don't want the slicked hair and popped collars of Chippewa or the skinny jeans of Allentown, hit up Goodbar, because the name says it all....

I've heard about the free food, wasn't there when they served it so can't comment.

I went for drinks with a colleague and the service sucked.

We went at around 7 to sit out on the patio. You have to go in to get drinks. for the first round, rather than get served, we stood there watching the bartender go all through the bar lighting candles. We were eventually served.

For the 2nd round, we had to wait for the bartender to finish text messaging someone.

    Not impressed with the place.
It's too divey and smelly to put up with bad service

The bartenders aren't bad and the specials are great. There is nothing that wows me completely about this bar, but it's a fun place to go and I've never had a bad experience there. It seems to have all the necessities of an ok bar - juke box, pool table, darts... There is even a little stage that on really busy nights people dance on even though it's not really "that" kind of bar. A pretty good default place to go if there is nothing more exciting going on. I always like to go up there and meet up with people, because it's not super loud during the earlier/later parts of the night and if you show up early enough you're too drunk to mind yelling by 1 anyway. :)

Oh, also, ladies, there are quite a lot of different kinds of guys who will try to pick you up at this bar. Personally, I find the crowd more preferable to most places.. they are less inpersonal then Chippewa and a little more subtle then Allentown..

There is a lot of Buff state college crowd here, so don't be surprised if you get in long drunken conversations about philosophy or music with strangers.
