Well appointed restaurant for location.  Food medicore.  Defintely changed there menu with much less expensive items.  Service was ok.  Can't cook a burger med rare.  First one was well - sent back - second one was medium well.  Server was going to compensate with a free dessert - got check and seemed to have forgotten.  Would not go back.  Have never really enjoyed this place.  Much better in Easton.

Mitchum's has been a long-time favorite of ours whenever we wanted an excellent steak dinner or when we wanted to entertain friends or family.  This past week when we took our son there for a birthday celebration there was an entirely new menu, and a most disappointing one at that.  If I wanted to go to a Chili's or to a Greene Turtle I could get the same fare as now being offered at Mitchum's and at much more reasonable price.  Bar service was disappointing...I had a Bloody Mary and it was mostly ice, no vegetable garnish at all, and served by a surly waiter.  When I noted that the selection of steaks was greatly diminished the waiter said "Look there, you can still get a steak" once again in a surly tone of voice.  For five of us, with the indifferent service, poorly-prepared food, and a sense of being rushed out of the place, the bill was in excess of $300!  Give this place a miss if you are looking for the excellent restaurant it used to be...I think those days, sadly, are past.  We certainly won't be going there again.

Wow! What a surprise. A high-end Big City steakhouse in Trappe, MD., population 1,085. Who would have guessed? Big, high ceilings, classic steakhouse decor, warm and professional service. The steaks are great, cooked perfectly, as are the sides. But, there's a real chef at work here- the black bass was outstanding, as was the appetizer goat cheese ravioli. If you are at Hyatt resort in Cambridge or staying in Easton, drive the 6 miles, it is worth it. We drove from St. michaels, and would do it again anytime. Check out the story of Robert Mitchum's years in Trappe, just fascinating. Go, I promise you'll love it.
