Well appointed restaurant for location. Â Food medicore. Â Defintely changed there menu with much less expensive items. Â Service was ok. Â Can't cook a burger med rare. Â First one was well - sent back - second one was medium well. Â Server was going to compensate with a free dessert - got check and seemed to have forgotten. Â Would not go back. Â Have never really enjoyed this place. Â Much better in Easton.
Review Source:Mitchum's has been a long-time favorite of ours whenever we wanted an excellent steak dinner or when we wanted to entertain friends or family. Â This past week when we took our son there for a birthday celebration there was an entirely new menu, and a most disappointing one at that. Â If I wanted to go to a Chili's or to a Greene Turtle I could get the same fare as now being offered at Mitchum's and at much more reasonable price. Â Bar service was disappointing...I had a Bloody Mary and it was mostly ice, no vegetable garnish at all, and served by a surly waiter. Â When I noted that the selection of steaks was greatly diminished the waiter said "Look there, you can still get a steak" once again in a surly tone of voice. Â For five of us, with the indifferent service, poorly-prepared food, and a sense of being rushed out of the place, the bill was in excess of $300! Â Give this place a miss if you are looking for the excellent restaurant it used to be...I think those days, sadly, are past. Â We certainly won't be going there again.
Review Source:Wow! What a surprise. A high-end Big City steakhouse in Trappe, MD., population 1,085. Who would have guessed? Big, high ceilings, classic steakhouse decor, warm and professional service. The steaks are great, cooked perfectly, as are the sides. But, there's a real chef at work here- the black bass was outstanding, as was the appetizer goat cheese ravioli. If you are at Hyatt resort in Cambridge or staying in Easton, drive the 6 miles, it is worth it. We drove from St. michaels, and would do it again anytime. Check out the story of Robert Mitchum's years in Trappe, just fascinating. Go, I promise you'll love it.
Review Source:When you are on Maryland's Eastern Shore and want a good steak, this is THE place. Perfect temperature, great flavor. The wine list is very well appointed and a fun read. John at the bar makes a killer Martini and knows just about every factoid about the movie playing in the background. Worth the trip to Trappe!
Review Source:We really enjoyed our meal and the options on the menu. The steak is clearly the thing to order and all of the sides were delicious. We had very friendly service and the atmosphere was nice and lively. I had the filet which was cooked perfectly and not inundated with sauces or seasoning, as a filet should be prepared. I couldn't resist the homemade graham cracker s'mores, but I am still a traditionalist in this regard. We were a party of 8 and everyone enjoyed their meal. (The bar makes a good drink also...)
Review Source:This place is worth it all the way. Â Top notch service and great atmosphere. Â Food is served a la carte, family style. Â Prices a bit high for location, but the food more than makes up for it. Â I did not understand why there is a such a wide mix in dress code for such a nice place. Â The table spacing is great and you are not sharing in others conversations. Â Truely a great place and worth the out of the way travel.
Review Source:Fantastic ambiance and food. Â I had the 20-oz. Â t-bone for $20, the Tuesday special. Â Wonderful steak, cooked perfectly. Â And the sides were fantastic. Â Try the baked oyster appetizer, you won't be sorry. Â And the pumpkin bread pudding for dessert was to die for. Â I'll be back often.
