Been here quite a few times now, and have to say the quality is degrading with every visit. This time, the restrooms were so pathetic and I had to call the Manager to complain. The food was very greasy and nothing to rave about. I have been there in the past when the food and ambiance have been good. Just going downhill, is all I can say. I don't think I'm going back at least!
Review Source:My guy and I have become regulars here. Â Their garlic naan is wonderful and I find myself alternating between all the vegetarian dishes because they're all so good. Â According to my meat-eating fellow, the meat dishes are also worth returning to again and again.
That said, the decor of Moksha does not live up to its cuisine. Â There is a big Buddha head that, by its very size, seems to overwhelm the main room. Â The tables are spread out in a way as to make the place seem less intimate than I think it could be.
I do like that there are little cubbies with curtains behind which you can eat your dinner. Â On my first time there, my guy reserved one of these cubbies and it was quite romantic.
There is music there on some nights in the other large room, however, I cannot comment on that because I have not attended any shows.
We discovered this restaurant while waiting for an oil change next door and decided to kill some time by having lunch while we waited. They were having a lunch buffet at a very low price, so we braced ourselves and went for it. The locale is ample, very clean, well maintained and the staff was very pleasant and quite attentive. So far so good ... then we headed for the buffet, which offered quite a selection of favorites, Â and back to our table, where our drinks and freshly baked na'an awaited; We were absolutely delighted with the quality of the food and just could not get enough! Â The staff was attentive from beginning to end and we were very pleased with the unexpected find! Before leaving we made the mandatory pit stop in the rest rooms and found them to be very clean and nicely decorated. Â The cashier inquired about our experience, thanked us for coming and gave us a discount card for future visits. Altogether this is a jewel of a place and we recommend their lunch buffet to all our friends. Â We also visit regularly now and the experience is always the same -- I especially recommend the goat curry (absolutely fantastic), though everything I've had there has been excellent! Â Hands down the best Indian food in the Valley =)
Review Source:Went here last night with a friend. Whoever says the place is falling apart must not know how to walk in their high heels - my friend and I had no problem getting to our table in the dinner area.
Our server was really cool too. I'll probably be back to chill on a Friday night if I'm too lazy to go out.
My friend had the chicken tikka masala (boring, I know!) but it was good. I had the lamb vindaloo, and it was great.
This might be gross, but the next day, my stomach was fine - which mean they don't grease up the food! Will definitely continue to keep coming here, and hopefully meet a nice larki...
This place is a bit weird. It's in an odd location, attached to a Motel 6. Doesn't have any real ambience, kind of feels like a dressed up cafeteria. It does look a bit run down in places.
We were greeted by sticky menus with food stuck to the pages. This is the first thing you really look at in a restaurant, it doesn't give you much confidence in the cleanliness of the kitchen if they can't even keep the menus clean.
It was also hard to ignore the super loud music playing through the loudspeakers. Loud enough where it was hard to have a conversation. It was interesting Indian techno, so it wasn't too bad, until they decided to turn it UP halfway through the meal! :o Thankfully after 30 minutes or so they did turn it off completely.
Our server made a few mistakes--but he was very nice so it was easily forgiven. He did mention that white people always love saag paneer. Interesting stereotype! But I'm white and I like saag paneer so maybe it's true.
Overall they made up for all of the weirdness with good food. It was very flavorful, and the spices were unique. The garlic naan was very tasty. The sauces were nice and spicy.
We might try this place again, but only if they clean their menus. :)
I think this restaurant is just beautiful on the inside. Unfortunately it is kinda in a weird area. I think the buffet is a very good value and you get a lotto good food. There is a good amt of vegetarian options but they Lao have tandoori and chicken tikka as well. I wish they had regular kheer instead of mango but that's personal preference. I like that they have Indian "cha" too. No complaints here--always good service and great food!
Review Source:My best friend and I found this place because of an online Groupon-type deal. Â Going out for Indian food is a regular outing for us and after our first visit here, we were hooked. Â We've been going here for the last 3 years now and always get the same dishes: Â Matar Paneer, Garlic Naan, Olive Naan, Samosas and Aloo Gobi. Â Their Matar Paneer is by far the best I've ever had, and anytime I try a new Indian restaurant and order the matar paneer, I always find that it's just not as good as Moksha's. Their Chicken Tikka Masala is real good too. Â The restaurant is never packed and they have 2 private rooms that me and my friend always request to sit in. Â Our favorite room has a tv in it and we spend a good couple hours sittin in there enjoying our food in private while watching bollywood music videos and catching up. Â Service is always friendly. Â I wish the prices were a little more affordable or the portions were bigger, Â but overall, I'm a happy customer.
I never come for the lunch buffet or the Indo Chinese menu so I can't really say much about that. Â This review is mainly for their sit-down dinner experience.
There is a big selection of items for their lunch buffet, but all of them are pretty mediocre. There is nothing that really stood out. Not bad, but not necessarily good. The salad dressing tasted really watered down. Also, it seems like parts of the restaurant are very nice, but the set up for the lunch buffet kind of felt like a cafeteria. Our waiter was nice but difficult to track down for drink refills.
Review Source:I'm not a person known to give scathing reviews, however ....
This review is for their Indian Chinese menu.
I came here looking for Indian Chinese cuisine, which they claim to offer.
The best thing I can tell you about this place in regards to that cuisine: avoid it. Completely.
It's awful. Plain and simple. I've had amazing IC and mediocre IC, but this tops the list as the worst BY FAR.
Problem #1. The menu item descriptions in no way match what is brought to the table. I believe I ordered Peking Lamb, described and thin, crispy sliced lamb bla, bla, bla. Instead, I was served a bowl of lamb soup. Completely NOT what the server told me what it was. Cilantro fish. Described as sliced, whole fish. What appeared at our table looked like the lamb dish, minus lamb, substitute fish. But wait: not whole fish. Rather battered and then fried and THEN added into this sauce. Again, not what I ordered, according to my menu. Â Which goes into...
Problem #2. Servers don't know how to properly describe and sell what they make. He just read the description of what was in the menu, he really wasn't knowledgeable. He also gave the same description for the Peking lamb....
Problem #3. The prices for the IC menu are highway robbery. If I go to Beverly
Hills, I expect things to fall on the costlier side. You can't charge over $15 for an entree that is this bad in the VALLEY. Appalling.
I feel badly for saying such negative things but I am being truthful. Did I also mention I'm Indian?? Ya, so when I say I've had IC before I actually mean IN INDIA, lol. Truth is Moksha doesn't make the grade.
I'm not reviewing their decor, or parking, or the Indian food. Just the Indian Chinese. However, it was enough that any amount of steals and deals couldn't coax me to return.
WATCH YOUR STEP!!! I was walking around looking down most of the time, and if I wasn't looking down I was walking around like a drunk person! The floor is ridiculously uneven! At one point the back of my heel was on a bump so my foot was even more at an arch while the other seemed to be completely leveled right before I stepped on the dance floor. It was horrible. I though I was going to twist an ankle so I did as little walking as possible. It's basically like that throughout the restaurant, from the Bar, the party hall we were in, restrooms etc. The only part that seemed leveled was the entrance and where the host was.
The place just seems old and dated and inconsistent! I was there for a wedding reception, I guess it's a popular place and it did accommodate a large party and left the dance floor open, but it just needed some a lot of cosmetic work and updating. It was $5 for Valet and since we were in party attire both my boyfriend and I didn't bring our usual wallets and didn't have cash on us. The Valet guys told us that we could pay after when we got our car since he needed to run over to the ATM however made my friends (pulling up right behind us) pay upfront and told him he can go to the liquor store across the street to get cash. That was a bit odd since they were in the same situation we were. The bar area was not appealing at all! It has this dated and old green carpet, the bar counter tops we're probably from the early 90's, the design and you can see that wear and tear on top. They had an old school cash register that still populated a tape every time a charge was entered and the bartender used a key to open it. (Again outdated and old!). The utensils were missed matched (the design on the handle) and a lot of the plates were chipped and inconsistent in size.
The highlight of the night, the food. I'm not too familiar with Indian cuisine, and the only time I've really had it was when I was traveling abroad in London. The food was delicious! For religious reasons, they were only serving chicken and lamb, but everything was delicious, flavorful and fresh. They had an award posted "2009 Named Best Food" by the LA Times, it's a much deserved award. If you ever want to try Indian food, highly recommend... just take it to go.
I was pleasantly surprised with this place. Our waitress maria was incredibly sweet and very attentive. The food is good, not AMAZING but good. Naan was soft, chicken tikka masala was spicy, veggie pakora was rich. Prices are great for the quality of food, and the atmosphere is pretty interesting with a bunch of statues and fountains and stuff. Huge full bar, too. Looks like a place I could see some young folks cutting a rug.
Review Source:Came here last night with a Groupon voucher that definitely paid off! First of all, as a other poster mentioned, this is a really nice restaurant in a bad location. It's between a Motel 6 and Ramada Inn, in a so-so location within Canoga Park. The inside however is pretty neat- it's split up into their bar/nightclub, lunch banquet hall, and dinner section. The dinner section is fancy - there's a huge buddha head water sculpture and they play good music.
Service was good, they asked how every dish was. We ordered the lamp and shrimp vindaloo with spinach stuffed naan and saffron rice. We also had the clay oven vegetable dish. Everything tasted really good! The portions for the vindaloo looked small but they were larger than other Indian restaurants, and very filling.
Definitely want to come back and check out their lunch buffets.
First time here tonight with a Groupon voucher. our service was very good. i was not impressed with the food though. We had shrimp vindaloo it was overcooked, and the spice was nothing like other indian places I have been to. I didn't care for their version of chicken tikka either,
My friend liked the food, it was just OK to me. The mango lassi was good
We noticed their carpet is very old and filthy, which does not look good for a place you are about to eat at. The ambience is nice though. Probably would not go back, really gave an extra star for the service.
I met a business associate for lunch here and was very pleasantly surprised! Â We walked into the restaurant, and everyone knew his name. Â It's like a family restaurant, where they really appreciate their customers!
The Lunch Buffet was about $8.50 and you surely got your money's worth. Â There were nice and quality dishes that were on the buffet - chicken tikka masala, butter chicken masala, paneer saag, and about 15 other choices in the buffet. Â I liked it that they had a good selection of both veg and non-veg selection here! Â My favorite had to have been the butter chicken masala! Â Very creamy sauce with tons of flavors, encapsulating tender chicken pieces!
Service was outstanding - the servers were very friendly, they delivered fresh naan to the table, and came to check on us to ensure that we had a good experience.
Food Grade: Â B+/A-
Service Grade: Â A
Worth the Money Grade: Â A!
Overall Impression: Â B+/A-
This place was a very good dinner experience and great value for the money. Â
Located next to the Motel 6 on the east (right) side heading north on De Soto, just before Sherman Way. Â Not on the corner - just before it. Â There's a big, red, square sign that has their signature picture of a hindu girl meditating. Â Plenty of private parking. Â
Comfortable chairs. Cloth tablecloths and napkins. Â A small candle on the table. Â Nice instrumental music. Â Hindu artwork, including a large fountain in the dining room of the meditating hindu girl. Â The bathroom was clean, with ice cubes in the men's urinals.
There's a private room with white leather couches, a coffee table to eat off, and a TV. Â Another private room has a regular table and can seat four.
They bring you crispy cracker bread while you wait, along with two spice sauces. Â
We tried the sizzling lamb platter and the lamb mango curry, along with saffron rice (with vegetables). Â The lamb was tasty, cooked in a tandoori oven. Â The curry was nice and sweet with a little spice, and came in a brass hotpot. Â We didn't ask for more spice but will next time. Â For two people it was more than enough food, and we took some home.
The servers were very polite and professional.
We had a http://restaurant.com $25 certificate. Â The cost was $27, including the tip. Â The server said they also do Groupon - $10 for $20. Â
It was a pleasant experience, so we will be back to try the goat curry.
Moksha is located in the valley. That being said, I think this is a really nice restaurant stuck in a crummy location. They share a parking lot with Motel 6 and it just doesn't have a really great setting outside of the restaurant to just walk around in. I think this restaurant would thrive it was moved somewhere else; prices for this place are a bit higher compared to most other things in the valley, so it probably explained the lack of people there on a Friday night.
This is the 2nd time I've been to Moksha. The first time was with a group of maybe 6 or more a while back (I remember they gave us one of those cubby-hole rooms, which was a great experience on it's own! It was pretty exclusive and it made it feel more lounge-y. The second time (yesterday evening), I went again. I was surprised that beside one other group of two people, we were the ONLY ones there (on a Friday night!)
I bought a Groupon Now deal ($20 worth for $10). We got the tandoori chicken wings, the chicken korma, a vegetarian eggplant dish (Sorry, can't remember the name!), rice, & garlic naan.
The tandoori chicken was amazing! It's marked on the menu that it's spicy, but I think you have to let them know that you're okay with it being super spicy because ours came out really mild (which is A-OK with me!!). It was delicious-- full of flavor & tender-- it came out on a sizzling plate with onions and bell peppers. A little pricey (I think it was $9?). In the middle of eating the wings, the waitress asked if we wanted our food at that moment or if we wanted to wait a couple of minutes to finish the wings. I appreciated that she asked, as most places do not, and I thought it was really considerate.
The main dishes were brought out-- elaborate and visually stunning! They placed the korma and the eggplant on decorative metal holders on top of lit oil candles. They were also very delicious! I think the korma was $14? And the eggplant was $11? I could be off by a few dollars. Anyway, the chicken was really tender and flavorful and the sauce was amazing (this IS sweet, so if you're not so into sweet-tomato sauces, I would stay away from this). The only complaint I would have is that the chicken-to-sauce ratio was a bit off. It was a GIANT amount of sauce with a few pieces of chicken, but otherwise, flavor was all there. The eggplant was also sweet, but really good! I know we requested REALLY mild, but it had a little kick to it.
We got the garlic naan and rice-- rice was good (but expensive?! $4) and the naan we just got because they up-sold it to us. (They will offer things to you that you didn't order, and sometimes it works!) The garlic naan was decent. It wasn't oily, which I appreciated, but I felt it was a little lacking/a bit dry/thin.
We had a lot to take home, but the food was really good. The service was great; everyone was so attentive (maybe because there were only two parties there?), but the decor inside was also EXTREMELY nice. It looks like they have a lot of space for banquets or large parties. I would definitely return, but because it's a little pricey, I would only return if I had a groupon/coupon to use.
This place probably has some of the best Indian food for a buffet, problem is that it's just damn far. Came here for a baby's birthday party that had rented out the large room next to the bar area. Quite a large area and gave way for many of the party games that were held.
The food was buffet style with damn good mutton curry, paneer and chicken 65. Meats were tender and juicy. Curries were flavorful along with the naan. Top it all off with the pista kulfi and the gulab jamun.
Wish this place was closer, but a darn good experience here.
Believe it or not, I really really like the buffet food here (and the majority of people dining with me were Indian, so HA. Validation). Some of the most tender chicken of all sorts and spices that I've ever had - chicken makhni, chicken tandoori. Good goat curry, tofu masala, the daal, the kulfi...Really, I enjoyed every bite.
A bit far from me, but a great place to eat.
The place can be rented out for private events; lots of open space, easy to access buffet, nice set-up.
This place is definitely going to become a regular.
Ordered: Onion Bhaji, Chicken Tikka Masala, AlooGobhi, Garlic Naan, and two desserts.
Though I've had much better AlooGobhi at practically every other restaurant I've tried, the rest of the dishes cannot be compared. Â
Notable item: the quality of the chicken in the Tikka Masala. Â I'm used to dried out cubes of chicken. Â Moksha has tender moist chicken that seems to be hand-pulled.
My husband's mango ice cream was more like a frozen mango smoothie, but it was authentically mango. Â You could taste the fruit, not just an artificial flavor, and it was tasty.
My favorite part was the rice dessert (I think it's called Keer). Â Light but still nicely sweet, well cooked rice, and fine pistachio crumbles on top. Â It was so delicious I could have had a couple more bowls. Â In fact, our dinner mates ended up getting an order to go, it was so great! Â 'Twas a generous portion, too. Â I'm used to getting a small shallow dish, but this was a nice bowl full.
Don't miss this place. Â Decor is interesting - maybe a needs a few professional suggestions, but go for it. You'll be glad you did.
P.S. Warning: Â We went on a saturday and there was a valet. Â We ended up ducking him and parking ourselves. Â Parking in general seems a little bit sparse.
As a first timer to Moksha, I must say I was impressed! I've always been a fan of Indian cuisine.
The service was excellent, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was lovely. And as a vegetarian, there were many options for me to choose from.. Â the samosa, garlic naan, the chana massala and mushroom matar were all amazing. *droOoool*
I'll definitely be returning again! :)
Love to food. Love the atmosphere. Love the price. This is a great place to feast on Indian food. Â I can't help but drool when I think about their lunch buffet. Lastly, they have a unique spin on desserts...chocolate samosas! Talk about delicious!
They have a great catering company as well!
With all the great Indian food choices in West Valley this is not one of them! Â Unless your staying at the Motel 6 which is shares a parking lot with the parking sucks! Â The food is very average, the staff was slow and confused not seeming to know what they have served us and what we were still waiting. Â Yes the food did not all come out together.. very ghetto interior.
You can do better!
Thumbs down for this one!
My co-worker gave me a coupon for their lunch buffet so decided to try out a good Indian restaurant as any. Â Always up for the challenge of trying a new place.
Like others say, the outside of course is hell to park in and looks like shi** but that never deters me. Â Once I walked in, it had a very nice ambiance but some lame back ground music.
Anyways...
Only one star from me...
The buffet had a lot of variety an it did taste pretty decent.
My server was on top of it and always filled my water so no need for flag downs.
But the main reason why I won't come back here was because of this rude server bitch. Â I usually don't cuss at or about people but really.... Â I get my garlic nan and it's four pieces which is to much really for just me so I asked this jerk for a piece of foil to take the rest of the bread with me and she laughed in my face and didn't come back and went about her other duties etc. Â
I complained to my server about the outright and rude treatment. Â It's not like I was taking any buffet items home. Just the complimentary bread. Â Wtf else will they use it for??? To re-serve out to others?? Â That's a severe health code violation.
She apologized and said we usually don't give away the bread and I said that's all she had to say and I would have understood. Â (other Indian places never gave me a issue about this)
I was wanting to take my boyfriend here but forget that now
I won't even be taking myself back there.
DREAM CUISINE. The best Indian restaurant in Los Angeles is actually in... Canoga Park. Like all great Indian restaurants, it combines the indigenous best of North and South India cooking, with that rare Indo-China secondary menu which includes first-rate spicy chow mein and a spicy shrimp appetizer with thick onions (mild is in option on every item). Great starters, but you must of course include one of their 15 different types of Naan. I suggest Garlic Naan.
CHICKEN MAKHNI is the best you're going to find anywhere, that's a buttery chicken in tomato cream sauce dish. Â
LAMB KORMA isn't for anybody who doesn't like lamb, but if you try it anywhere in the world it must be here. Savory herbs and spices submerged in a thick curry sauce.
SHRIMP VINDALOO has the right amount of ginger mixed in with the potatoes and is a healthy option. Ditto the SHRIMP TIKKA MASALA which will have you speaking in tongues -- you'll walk out with a red-painted tomato tongue. SHRIMP COCONUT CURRY is so wonderful as well, you'll finish the shrimp but take the curry home.
CHICKEN SAAG is for spinach lovers like myself, the base is creamy perfection.
When it comes to sides get your LENTILS. One order of BASMATI RICE is enough for two, maybe three people.
"MOKSHA" will sizzle your senses and beguile your imagination. Upscale dinery and banquet hall club; a perfect place to reserve a party. My better half, Ribhalin from Shillong, India, agrees with my endorsement. She says you have to go to San Francisco to find this quality, and even that, it doesn't capture half the fun as "Moksha." Next best thing to eating in it would be to theoretically bathe in it.
Complimentary valet requires tip only. Street parking optional. Dress smart and pretty.
So i get a deal from work. Moksha restaurant... spend $35 and get $25 off.
That's a pretty decent deal so the wife and I go there last night.
We went around 6:30pm and the place was decently empty. Now, we know we are early so i figured, it's Tues and i'm sure the place will pack out later.
They gave us a private table in the corner. It was so nice. We even had curtains so we were essentially hidden from view. The waiter was very attentive and always around so we didn't feel like we weren't wanted or anything. LOL
As for the food... now, i don't eat spicy. We've all heard that from friends and family but i'm different. I go as far as ketchup, ok? Ketchup!!
We ordered the chicken lasooni, chicken tikka masala- MILD, lamb bhuna - MILD and the bread basket. (3 kinds of naan)
Now, my definition of mild is apparently very different from the chefs. I was sweating buckets while my wife (who can eat VERY spicy) had no issue at all.
The waiter was great in getting me all the gallons of water i needed.
The taste of the chicken lasooni was a bit sour but very juicy. It is cooked with spices but dressed in lemon juice (hence the "sour") and served on a bed of onions on a sizzling plate. Fantastic taste!
The curries... whew! Very flavorful but after all that water, i needed a break. Thankfully, the bread soaked up all the water. Â ;-)
End of the day, 4 stars and i enjoyed myself. I will be back to try the buffet (weekday or weekend) and look forward to more... water! LOL
I have to say as a regular, I don't think I've experience consistency at such a high level. Â Every time I come here, the food is just as I'd want to be and the service is still good.
I read through a few other reviews and was surprised to see anything less than 5 stars but hey, I love this place and I don't feel they deserve anything less.
With their cheap prices, great food, and great service, I can't help but give 'em 5 stars again.
ON a side note, I almost always go to this place on Saturday at 11:30am (RIGHT when they open) so I figure that's the best time to go? lol.
Thank you to Groupon for my $1 (for $20 worth of food) lunch!!! Â Woohoo! Â But here's the run down...
THE GOOD:
- Meat samosas with minced lamb came to us nice and hot. Â Mmmm...yum! Â :)
- Wow, they have different kinds of naan bread. Â We chose garlic. Â Yum!
- Chicken Vindaloo (asked for it medium spicy) - it was yummy & I love that spice!
- The servers are very attentive
THE BAD:
- You get only 2 pieces of garlic naan for $3. Â Kinda steep if you ask me. Â The bread is not that big (about the size of your hand).
- The portion of chicken vindaloo is soo small. Â I kept saying to my friend...This is the portion we get for $13?!?! Â WTF!
- Parking sucks because it is soo small. Â You might think you can park next door but it is Motel 6 parking.
THE UGLY:
- The outside of the restaurant looks a little run down.
- The inside is decor is okay but it could use an update.
- The bathroom feels icky when you first walk in because the door is suppose to be white/off white but it looks like it's stained with dirty hand prints. Â Also the bathroom stalls could need a little update too.
They have 2 other locations. I wonder how those locations are since this location kinda disappointed me. Even though we got $20 worth of food for $1, it was still pricey and the portions are small - with tax and tip we still ended up paying $10. It would've been nice if the dishes came with naan or basmati rice but you have to order the sides. BOO! This is a dieter's paradise so I guess that leaves me out of it. LOL Maybe next time I will try their lunch buffet for $8.95 instead. :)
My husband and I visited this restaurant with high hopes since it had been recommended by a friend. I always try to start off with the positive in these reviews, so here goes.
The waitress was very friendly and attentive and they were willing to turn on the World Series for me since my team (go Cardinals!) is in it. The ambiance is also nice. And last, but not least, they are creative with their mixed drinks -- my husband had the Karma something-or-other... mango lassi with vodka and something. (It really made an impression, as you can see!)
And now for the less positive. Every single dish we had was OFF. My husband (who's Indian) said the fish tikka had no flavor; my shahi paneer had too much lemon; the chicken 65 was NOT chicken 65 (this is what chicken 65 looks like: http://www.youtube.com/w…); the chai had overpowering levels of cardamom; and there was a disturbing amount of cilantro in every dish.
And now for the neutral. The prices are pretty high ($65 for 2 people) but the portion sizes are large. Â Only problem is, you will have leftovers you don't want to eat. Â :-/ Â There is unnecessary valet parking, but that's LA, not Moksha.
All in all, ambiance is great, but if the food ain't good... yeah.
While I am a fan of Indian food, I don't often find myself eating at Indian restaurants. Â As a result, I still consider myself an Indian food novice. Â With that in mind... certain things stood out to me.
I really enjoyed their Naan, super fresh, hot off the press! Â Their Tandori chicken was very tender, and went very well with the yogurt. Â
They had a green'ish, spinach looking dish that was out of this world. Â It had me coming back for more... on several trips. Â
As for the atmosphere, it had dim lighting and was borderline awkwardly quiet. Â Nonetheless, it was pleasant in general.
An inexpensive all-you-can-eat option, providing tasty food and friendly service...? Â Why not? Â
4 Stars.
I was gonna give it 4 stars for their great buffet but this restaurant has some really nice ambience because of the decor. Giant Buddhas. Fountains. Giant Bar.
Had to give it a 5 Star. The food was pretty good too.
Can get alittle pricey at night but you have much more choices. They have these little secluded tables which makes things more special and I heard they also have have belly dancing on some nights.
Never been here when they are clubbing but I have driven by to see lines and fancy cars pulling in.
So my girl and I were driving down the street looking for a good mexican restaurant as were driving we notice this sign that says MOKSHA Indian Cuisine Bar & Lounge..I was like whaaaat..Lounge at an Indian restaurant..and below it is said Karaoke and Club..We just stared at eachother and kinda screamed..woww were gonna have our Indian Food and Party too..hahaha..sweeeeet.
Sooo we pull up to this place and it looooked pretty packed and we couldn't find any parking we end up parking next door at the jiffy lube or some type of oil change place..Anyways we walk in and were seated. The ambience is very dark and I noticed there were curtains and people behind the curtains. Â This place from what I saw has two private small roooms for dining. Â One that seats 4 people and another one with a plasma tv that seats 8 people..and there is a curtain which you can close so you can have a nice intimate dinner/privacy..HOW COOL is THAT???
We get seated we order the garlic naan, onion kulcha, basmati rice and chicken tikka masala MEDIUM..Food comes out take a bite..WOWZERSS Spicy as hell..need water..I'm not a big fan of spicy food..I'm still eating the chicken tikka masala and it's pretty good but just too spicy..The server comes around frequently to fill our water and she asked how it was I told her it was greattt but a lil on the spicy side..she was sooo nice she said she would have it changed for us..She changed it from medium to mild and brought a whole new chicken tikka masala..PROPS to them..Meal was greattt, I really enjoyed it.
During dinner we heard music bumping and saw some young kids and I asked the server what was going on she said that there is a lounge friday nights but it was Saturday night...After our meal was over we walked to the Bar and it was pretty packed a bunch of people just chillen and drinking and than we walk over to the other room which is a big hall I would say and it had a pretty big dance floor and the music is bumping but NO ONE is on the dance floor. HA..
We just end up leaving and there is about 8 people outdoors waiting to get in not sure if you have to pay cover or what not...Buttt this wasn't our type of scene we decided not to stay behind. :)
Pros-THE FOOD-Chicken Tikka masala, rice, garlic naan..HUGEEE PORTIONS..THEY HAVE REALLY BIG PORTIONS HERE..I ended up taking it home. :) Â Karaoke on Wednesday and a Lounge. SERVICE was excellent!!!
Cons-none that I can think of..Umm food was good but I have been to other indian restaurants that are better.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
I took my girlfriend to Moksha after learning about the restaurant from http://SocialBuy.com. Â
My first impressions: Moksha is upscale, inviting, and expansive.
We ordered 3 items:
(1) Olive Naan (Topped with green olives)
(2) Chicken Tikka Masala (Cooked in Tomato Base Sauce with Spices & Herbs)
(3) Saag Aloo (Mixture of Potatoes with Fresh Spinach)
The food was delicious and spicey, just as we ordered.
My concern is that after all the food was devoured, I had gastrointestinal discomfort.
Nothing on the menu said there was dairy, but I suspect that the Chicken Tikka Masala had a cream based sauce.
Overall we enjoyed the food and would consider trying out the lunch buffet.
Two weeks old and the cavernous space next door to a Motel 6 boasts itself as the "Ultimate Dining Experience - Restaurant, Bar, Lounge, Nightclub".
$8.95 lunch buffet on weekdays. The food is decent, but it's not India Sweets & Spices which is just down the road. The only advantage Moksha has food-wise is meat selections. The goat is best if you can find some meat on the bones.
