Mommer's Diner

We originally came here because we'd come for El Taco which was closed during its posted business hours, and we were hungry and it was across the street and open. We had no idea what to expect, though from the store front, we expected a mom & pop simple place, which it certainly was.

As others have noted; it is small, vintage, & thrown together. They were also out of what I wanted by only noon ( fried chicken, nothing exotic), but the Birch beer was acceptable enough. My husband got a vanilla shake that was decent though tasted "thin"/milky more so than ice cream.

We don't mind diners & dives atmosphere at all, but we do very much mind if the food and service is actually no frills. Very disappointing and we're not so sure we'll be back until we see from other reviews that things have changed. It's a shame because we love mom & pop stores and wanted to like this place, but didn't finish most of what we ordered, and left.

Also, this is 2012; who doesn't accept credit cards by now?

The "cream chipped beef on toast" should be renamed to "cream with specks of beef."  Friendly, fast service. Subpar food that is appropriately priced.

Your typical, no frills, rural 70's-like diner.  This is the kinda place you go to get the local gossip and tell bad jokes. The food and the prices are modest, but fitting for this kind of place. It's a small, Mayberry kind of vibe, and I say that in a good way. But if you're coming out from the city, however, it might be a bit of a culture shock for you.
