Not a bad place!
Located across from Donovan's, this place has decent beer on tap and a fairly solid pub grub-type of menu. The sliders were solid, with the panko-crusted chicken being my favorite. The pulled pork slider tasted too much like a sparerib. The beef slider was rather ordinary.
Fries were solid. Chicken fingers were more breading than chicken, but I like that kind of ratio.
All in all, not a bad choice if you're looking for typical pub fare in Bayside.
Quite frankly this past Friday night we wanted to go to Patrick's Pub. There was a 35 minute wait. So we decided to go across the street to Monahan & Fitzgerald. There were mostly patrons at the bar, but there was seating in the back for diners.
The service was very pleasant.
I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and fiies and hubby ordered the ribs with sweet potato fries. My burger had a bit too much char, but medium rare on the inside just as I ordered. Fries were yummy. Glass of Malbec very nice too. Hubby liked the ribs and the sweet potato fries were fantastic.
We ordered Irish coffees and unfortunately they were too too sweet. It's been awhile since I had Irish coffee, My frame of reference is Donovan's or the old Patrick's Pub where are not served sweet as I recall.
Perhaps I should have asked.
All in all, it was a pleasant quick dinner. When I'm craving a burger I would still come back. The prices are reasonable and service pleasant.
I dropped in early on a Monday afternoon with some friends because we kept smelling burgers. The food wasn't bad, but I ordered my burger medium, my friend medium well. Mine came out well done, and his came out medium well. Really tough to swallow. I had ordered the MOM burger which came with mushrooms and onions, and between the vegetables and the ketchup I ate a little more then half. Fries were good.
The crowd at that time was middle aged working class men, but Fridays are ladies night and women drink free from 12-3am. Rum and coke was $6.
I'd go back for the burgers, even though they were waaaay overdone they were still good, which is saying something.
Alright, I gotta admit. Not my scene at all.
We ended up here because we were bored and on Bell.
The bartender was really sweet to us. So, three stars for him.
This bar is not a bar for young people. It was kind of trashy.
We came here and it was Ladies Night, which meant free beer for us.
We got many cups of beer in hefty cups. Which grossed me out, just because
I'm a pompous drunk. Needless to say, the bar was filled of cliche drunks.
The ugly girls in one corner, drinking away their insecurities while singing along to Rebecca Black's Friday. The thirty year old ex-frat boys that roared every time a half naked girl showed up on screen. And the stick thin blondes that can't hold their liquor. If I had  a dollar for every drunk girl that came up to me and made a fool of herself. I would be bloody rich.
Two stars for the bartender. That's it.
Don't go here, just hop on the LIRR that's a block away and get yourself somewhere better.
I had my engagement party here on October 6, Â holds about 40 people. decor is up to date. Jeffery was really helpful and answered all questions that I had. The food was amazing, the punch and cake were excellent .The waitresses were very helpful!. My family is still raving about the food especially the salmon and the penne al vodka. No regrets for booking here! Awesome service and people! Thank you Jeffrey
Review Source:I like this little bar, mostly for the company I go with more than the bar itself, but the bartenders are incredibly rude. I would never suggest coming here for that reason alone, but I occasionally do only when meeting friends there. I'd say it's between a 2-3 star experience here. There are much better down the street, so I wouldn't waste my time.
Review Source:Great atmosphere ,really good burgers, sweet potato fries, only the beginning.waiters and waitresses are friendly and helpful with the menu, just get there and check their menu, almost all the entrees are good and the portions are large.really like the Cajun chicken sandwich,/sautéed onions ,makes my mouth water right now. Gee, maybe well go after the first f- ball game and join the crowd that I am sure is there right now.
Review Source:Never used to eat here but decided to give it a go on Sunday for the rubber match of the subway series featuring CC and Dickey. Â
The food is delicious. Â A must try is the Irish fries. Â
The Blue Point Long Island brew also hits the spot. Â Minus 1 star for not having Hoegarden, which, by now, should be a staple in every bar.
Side note, it was kind of weird cheering on the bombers in a bar with Mets banners and flags. Â Oh wells...left when it was still 5-4 yanks...before the Mets fans could start cheering.
Happy eating, suckers.
Monahan's is usually the first stop for my friends during our Bell Blvd. bar crawls. We typically end up leaving once whatever odd band they've got in there starts playing.
Before that happens though, and on many occasions, I have personally seen my friends get into fights when one of them steals another's Irish Nachos (everything you would find on a Mexican nachos supreme, except with potatoes instead of nachos!). You don't mess with Monahan's Irish Nachos... they are amazing!
Also, beer is good.
owed by my parents childhood friend this place is great for happy hours, family dinners or a quick drink after work. located just off bell boulevard it is convienently located near all of you bell hot spots. they have delicious lean well cooked burgers with nitely speacials. for all you health nuts try the country salad. If your interested in a group party they have a seperate party room located upstairs that hold 75. municipal lot is also located adjacent from the door. and the long island railroad is down the block. its the port washington line.
Review Source:So when you grow up one day, you'll have a bar to call your own. This is my bar, whenever someone says let's go to the bar, it means let's go to Monahan's. Whenever I have sundays off, this is where I am to watch Giants game and stuff french fries, sliders, hot and teriyaki wings for hours! They always have a great deal during games for Coors Light  ( I love Coors Light ) and wings. They just recently remodeled, at first I was upset because it lost its old-style bar appeal but we now have 6 flat screens on top of the bar to the watch the game and congregate. All and all this where I would spend my time!
They also have a hall upstairs you can rent for a nice party, also the dinner menu is delicious!
The updated version of Monahan's is a great place to watch a game.  The sizable televisions and bar is great, especially if your  NY fan.
I watched the Giants/Jets game here and there was a great mix of both fans. Â If raucous cheering and good times is what your looking for then there is no reason not to catch the Giants/Cowboys game this weekend at Monahans!
Just had a holiday party here 12/15/11 I must say with one weeks notice they were able to give us a great time for a party of 22. I booked the party through Jeff and also wanted  to thank the rest of wait staff for an excellent job. They allowed us to order off the menu which was a great option, most places with parties that large usually want to set up a price fix menu. It was so nice to allow people to decide for themselves what they wanted to eat. I personally had the Shephard's pie which was excellent. This is there third party we have booked here but never with such short notice. There is a larger Banquet Room upstairs which I believe can accomodate up to 60 people. Thanks again for a great evening.... Adam
Review Source:I haven't been to this place in a year or two, but when I would come here every Friday night after work it was always a good time. I always got here around 9 - 10 when the place was still in "restaurant mode" but once all the families left there was awesome music, great food, drinks and dancing. Had some of the best nights here and can't wait to go back next time I'm in the neighborhood.
Review Source:Been going to this place for years, they just did major renovations in March 2011 and now it is better than ever!!! Â Friday and Saturday nights they have a DJ who plays a great mix and they also have music videos playing on all the TVs while the song is on. Â Food is great and watching any sporting event (especially Sunday football) is awesome!!!
Review Source:One of our go-to bars on Bell. A small place, but enough room that it usually doesn't get too crowded, there are some nights that it does get crowded (usually on the weekends) and it gets hard to move, that is when I leave- me and tight spaces are not friends! They have seating in the back where you can eat but I have actually never eaten here, I have only come for the nightlife. The seating area is open for anyone after a certain time. They have an area where people dance which is fun; it's not really a dance floor, more of an open space with opportunity to dance. Depending on the night there may or not be people dancing, sometimes people just stand in the dance area. The music is usually a great mix. They also have Tv's playing whatever sports event is on for the night which the guys enjoy. Average drink prices, friendly staff, an overall good time. A great mix of all ages and types of people. Â A good place to come and hang with your friends without all of the craziness of some other places.
Review Source:As people have said, it is a typical Bayside bar with a typical Bell Blvd atmosphere. With that, it still remains my favorite on the whole block for a couple reasons:
1. The crowd is not as pretentious as some other bars on Bell Blvd such as Brews Brothers or Johnny Famous.
2. It's not too crowded, yet not too dead. In other words, you can move around and have enough space around you to breathe.
3. The staff is really friendly and courteous...something I can't say about most bars on Bell Blvd.
4. The decor is that of a typical bar / restaurant, but it does have some class to it.
Overall, it's a good place to have a couple drinks with some friends..they have karaoke on some nights if you are into that sort of thing.
Bar
Typical Bayside bar and crowd- in our case we walked into a huge wedding party that was, for the most part, beyond wasted.
Decent music and very good bartenders. Â Average selection on tap. Â
Place is smallish overall, but everyone was more or less friendly except the one douchebag who kept waving his arm in front of my face to get the bartenders attention - he was close to getting smacked...
Prices were average.
I doubt I'd go again if given a choice- not really my kind of place.
Parking on street or muni lots.
This place is the shit!!! Â The bartenders are always very friendly and arent your usual "what do you want" kind of bartenders. They have live bands that are pretty good too. Â To be honest what makes this place stand out is the friendly atmosphere and waitstaff. Â I always seem to meet friendly people who are down to just knock back a few while talking about how the mets suck.
Review Source:here is where I witnessed the lakers blow a 22 point lead against the celtics. Â as good as Kobe is, he is not MJ. Â mike would have dunked on garnett when they were up 40 just to make a point. Â wait, thats right. monahans...
nothing makes this place stand out. Â sort of like everything else in bayside (except Avli).
$20 for 4 beers on a thursday. Â meh, not bad, not great either. Â (2 sam summer, 2 smithwick)
live music by a one-man band who wasnt bad, but didnt knock my socks off. Â i felt bad for the poor bastard, the bartender was the only one clapping for him after each song. Â
bartenders were nice enough, and the irish fries smelled and looked delicious, but im trying to get back into pre-PA school shape. That, and I dont want to go on Lipitor when Im 30, so the bacon & cheesy goodness has to wait.
