I love Mooneys! It's big, has a nice bar, and even an outdoor patio. While the drinks at the bar are great, it's the food that is amazing! I love the different types of Mac 'n cheese (especially the stuffed hot pepper one) and I have never had a bad meal! It's a great time during football season as well.

I have been a regular at Mooney's since it opened in 2010 and can definitely state that it is the best all-around sports bar and pub in Western New York. What used to be a somewhat well-kept secret no longer is. You can expect a decent crowd almost every night.

Mooney's covers the basics - plenty of TVs, sports paraphernalia and beer. However, it is the food that separates it from the other hundreds of pubs that essentially offer the same things.

The pizza, wings, subs and basic bar staples are all top notch. (Isn't amazing how many places in Buffalo serve below par wings?) Special attention should be given to the Stuffed Banana Pepper soup, which is quite possibly the best soup anywhere around. I never order soup, but I do here.

There are numerous mac and cheese choices as well. Stick to the small or appetizer sizes, unless you are feeding 4 people. The mac and cheese serving sizes are just massive.

Mooney's also serves a burger that is on par with the best in Buffalo - including Vizzi's and Ruzzine's. Always flavorful and cooked correctly.

People on diets will find themselves severely tested here, but there are some options, including the salads and certain subs.

Mooney's prices have risen somewhat over the past year, which is probably more a reflection of its increasing popularity than anything else. Basically, the prices have increased from "oddly low" to "fair".

Expect large crowds, especially for dinner on Fridays. There are also bands and a Saturday DJ that turns the atmosphere to something resembling a club as it gets later. As you would expect, sporting events also draw in the local fans.

I heard they had a Lobster Mac & Cheese and this intrigued me. So on 3.15.2013 I decided to give it a try. When I arrived with a friend we had a bit of a wait but who cared. Soon we were seated. There was plenty of items to chose off the menu. We saw heaping plates of food be served. We ordered the Lobster Mac and as an app we ordered the Coconut Raspberry Shrimp. You get 8 big shrimp. They were coated with panko breadcrumbs and were perfectly cooked. As for the raspberry sauce it is one of the most divine things I have ever eaten. We were thankful there was no spoon on the table as we would have fought to finish it off. On to the entree; a lumberjack size serving of piping out cheesey, pasta, Lobster bliss was set in front of each http://of.us. We knew at this point what we saw being served was the side size. However we each ordered a full and attempted to eat it. I only at 1/4 of it. My friend also only ate a small portion. We were in Foodie happiness! There were leftovers that reheated beautifully. I plan on going back again to try other selections. At no point did we feel rushed and the staff was Great!

Big props to Yelpers for uncovering the wonders of this place for me. It's my current favorite place for ultimate comfort and fried food. Lobster mac and cheese? Oh yeahhh and for $12, you will get a portion that's fit for behemoth with probably at least a pound of lobster in there (and three pounds of elbow noodles).

It's pretty slick and it reheats like a champion as well (with a ton of oil at the bottom for you to see the grease-wonder you're consuming), but it tastes like a total wonder. I've never actually chilled at this bar, but it seems pretty nice. There's some foozball tables, lots of TVs, friendly servers and a mix of older and younger clientele. The outside has a really slick looking patio as well and even a few leprechauns mooning you for good measure (get it, Mooney's??). Since discovering this place, I'm not ashamed to have come here twice in one week. This past Superbowl Sunday, I decided to try this place out for their wings and I was beyond pleased.

I ordered 20-pieces with 10 being hot and the other 10 their special Mooney's sauce (which is a mix of dijon mustard and BBQ) and the wings were great. Crispy to the point where parts of the skin are crunchy, yet still juicy enough with the wing sauce being a perfect balance of flavor without being overly salty as to kick all the other flavors in the butt. I ate all 20 in one seating with a little bit of lobster mac and cheese, took a nap, missed most of the superbowl and woke up with a stomach ache. Was it worth it? Heck yes and I can't wait to do it again.

At this time I am not going to write a review about the atmosphere or the service. My visit was on the day of the Super Bowl and although not during the actual time of the game, many tables were marked off as reserved, were empty however the staff was for the most part un-attentive.

My mother had decided to take me here recommending that I try the Reuben. For starters we ordered the Mooney's Loaded Fries and I ordered the Stuffed Hot Pepper Soup. When the fries came out we were surprised at how large the serving portion was but glad to see that not only do the french fries appear to be hand made, but were cooked to perfection, served with melted cheese and real crispy bacon on top. It came with two sides of sour cream that we didn't even touch.

The Stuffed Hot Pepper Soup has come at the recommendation of a friend, I have to say that this is not a disappointment. If you are a lover of a Hungarian hot pepper you will enjoy this soup. It is a cream based soup that has pieces of cut peppers and sausage. I was scraping the bottom of the crock with my spoon by the end.

Please be advised that all sandwiches come with a side of chips, if you would like fries that is an up-charge however the mound of chips provided is more than enough to satisfy anyone. My mother had ordered the Turkey Club, this sandwich followed the huge portions protocol and came out in 4 large wedges with a huge pile of chips in the middle. The Reuben does not disappoint, served in the traditional style (rye bread, corn beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut and Russian dressing) this Reuben was extremely satisfying but not greasy.

I love how big Mooney's is! Even when it is packed...you still have "personal space", and not too long of a wait for a drink. This is a great spot for a large group or bar league teams to meet up after a game for a few beers. Very traditional sports bar in the best sense of the meaning!

Spacious, lively, and always a great time!

Mooney's is a bit more of a grill than a bar. There is a higher ratio of eating tables than bar space. That said, when you have Jose Cuervo Tequila on tap you can say you are a legit bar.

Even though we went for their mondo sized delicious wings, my buddy is a regular and raved about the overall choices on the big menu. The servers were more than you would expect in a chaotic bar environment. They were courteous and efficient.

The clientele had a mix of young and some older. Before the band came out classic rock was being played through the sound system which I thought was interesting given that the predominate age group was in their twenties. The band was very good and played 90's and up rock. No rapping or hip hop here!

Love that big chopper with the Blues Brothers on the tank out in front. Check it out!

Mooney's has everything a great sports bar needs. A nice bar, TVs everywhere, drink specials, and awesome bar food.

The service I have had both times I have been here was awesome. My dinner party had a special request to our order which was no problem and my glass was never empty. I have tried many things on their menu and have not been disappointed with anything. The food is very reasonably priced and the portions are enormous.

Mooney's will always be a top pick for a great place to go have some beers and food and watch the game.

The true definition of a sports bar. Lots of televisions, pitchers of beer, great wings, pizza, loaded nachos and all other sorts of delicious bar food. On many weeknights the place will be packed to the brim with softball teams - teams who are both sponsored by Mooney's and teams who are in completely different leagues. No matter how busy they are, the food comes out pretty quickly and the servers remain friendly.

They have a decent patio which gets a little congested on a busy night.

Perhaps my only complaint is that they have some guy who plays guitar and sings every night my softball team goes here. It is a little too loud and just doesn't seem necessary in an already busy sports bar. Too many places are hopping on this "live music novelty" bandwagon.

Fantastic! Had lunch there today and I am very impressed! I am fairly new to WNY and have eaten my share of pizza and wings and frankly have grown tired of the usual fare offered by most bar & grill restaurants in the area. Mooney's extensive menu guarantees something for every palate! Lots of homemade yummy goodness for sure! The staff are polite, friendly and professional. The booths outdoors are comfortable for dining or sitting back and enjoying a few cold ones. I cannot express how delicious and well prepared their food is. The portions are large and affordable. My dining companion and I had the Bomb sub, Monte Cristo sandwich, Loaded Fries and Deep Fried Pickles. All done to perfection! You can taste the attention to detail. Can't wait for supper time to finish my leftovers. That is if I am even hungry again today!

The food is top notch, from the stuffed hot pepper soup, to the 9 different types of Mac n Cheese, to the amazing steaks and daily specials, this place does not disappoint. The staff is great, the menu has something for everyone, families are always welcome.
The moses challenge is a sight to behold , a 6 lb sub to be eaten in 45min if you dare.
I eat there on average once a week and I try a new item each time, but my all time favorite is the "Bomb" sub, its a Philly cheese steak with a couple chopped up stuffed hot peppers.

Sports Bar with Great Food and Service in the Northtowns

*Mooney's is a more recently renovated "shot and a beer/ watch the game" hangout that has added an awesome menu sure to tickle the taste buds of just about any critic.

**I have only been but once - but the mid day lunch experience was enough to make this an "on the map" spot for me.

Enjoyed half of a Steak sub done "Moses style" which adds house made cole slaw and hand cut french fries to the sandwich. In a word - phenomenalgluttony. Maybe that's two words combined - but their portions equal satisfaction and Mooney's does not compromise quality with "size".

*I shouldn't fail to mention that Mooney's also has a Man vs. Food type challenge offered. THE MOSES CHALLENGE. A six pound sub with at least three pounds of meat awaits the challenger. The last I had heard well over sixty people have attempted and one lone man has been succeeded.

*Jukebox*Table dining* Big Patio * Decent location * Great service *

I will be back -

Make it a Moses !
