FANTASTIC!
Great southern cooking/food- simply homemade and made with her soul- Wonderful and worth the wait when you order - obviously prepaired just for your order. It's not setting in a warmer waiting for you....
I really enjoy finding local places that are locally owned to do business with- the quality is so much better vs chains.
Well woth a stop!
If you haven't tried Miss Mary's then you really need to. She is a sweet, hard-working lady. We have enjoyed every meal. My father looks forward to eating here everytime he visits. I love the fried okra, black eyed peas, and collard greens.BTW, the building has been painted a very bright cheerful yellow. You can't miss it! :)

Chitterlings dinner
With Mac and cheese, collard greens, French fries, fried okra
With corn bread. Â
You have to be in the right frame of mind to consider eating chitterlings, I was and they were good. Â Ms. Mary is a sweet lady and it is evident that she cares about her food. Â The Mac and Cheese should be described as the Five Cheese and Mac, and it is awesome. Â Mom cannot make it as good as Ms. Mary. Â I highly recommend this dive.
Great food. Â It was just great.
I ate here with my mother two years ago. Â The wait was long but worth it even though we were almost the only ones eating at that time of day. Â I can't say the fried chicken was the best I ever had, but it is most certainly one of the best chicken dinners in town. Â The only place that had better was the Oak Door, which is now closed. Â I would recommend this place over any other in town. Â As a bonus, it's a local restaurant instead of a corporate chain. Â My hope for Kokomo now that I'm back and probably going to be living here for a while is that the people learn what quality is and start supporting local places instead of large, corporate, food troughs.
Review Source:Dont be turned away by the non-discript simple building nestled in a neighborhood behind Markland mall (across from Sears), with a flashing neon open sign and hand written signs in the window. Â Go in and enjoy great food at reasonable prices in a homey atmosphere.
Miss Mary's has a large selection of southern favorites on her menu. Our party perused the menu for quite a while trying to decided what to eat. We decided on fried catfish, meatloaf, salmon patties and the chicken finger dinners. All food was homemade and very largely portioned. Sides that accompanied our meals were seasoned green beans, homemade mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, and brown beans (pinto beans) that were to die for! An appetizer order of hush puppies were plentiful and nicely prepared, turned into an ongoing order throughtout dinner. Dessert were plentiful as well. Cobblers were ordered to go.
While waiting for our dinners to arrive, surrounding tables were getting plates of mouth watering fried chicken, and rib tip dinners. All commented that they were delicious too! Â Our next trip back will include these selctions.
Definitely worth checking out and well worth the drive from Indianapolis to find a hidden treasure that blows  chain resaturants out of the water with food quality.
