We got the LivingSocial deal, so the price was 50% off. Â So, that obviously makes things a better value for me. Â They ended up screwing up my reservation dates, and I didn't find out until they called to ask me why I wasn't showing up in Feb. Â I realized they made an error, and I also made a mistake by not confirming the confirmation email. Â We were able to work something out, and they got me my original reservation dates. Â However, they had to UPGRADE me to a really nice room. Â And boy, what a nice room it was.
Our room is really nice. Â It sits on the corner, and there are NO adjoining rooms. Â So, it's quiet. Â I can't say if the walls are thin or not. Â The views are not so great, but the area is pretty. Â The supposed stream they have that runs by the property is more like a trickle. Â It's most definitely not what one would imagine. Â However, the lodge is cute, and I mostly enjoyed our stay here. Â The front desk people are really pleasant. Â Since the restaurant was closed, they provided in suite "breakfast" baskets that consisted of fruit, muffins, juice, granola bars, and crackers. Â Definitely not a hearty or good breakfast, but it makes for good snacking along hiking trails. Â
The surrounding areas are really nice. Â I took many evening walks, and I found lots of nice picture oppty's. Â With the sun setting, and the lighting they have around the place, the place feels super cozy. Â It made me pine for mountain living. Â Anyways, your mileage may vary. Â
Wifi reception is kinda spotty if you don't have a laptop with decent wifi reception. Â Tablets and smartphones can be problematic depending on your room.
Anyways, I'm a fan of the place.
This place is adorable!!! Not a Ritz or Hyatt but very earthy and cozy. I stayed in an upgraded room with a king size bed which was very comfortable however the rooms are a bit small so the bed took up the bulk of the room but that was okay because we went there for my boyfriend's birthday. They have an outdoor hot tub and a pool however you have to be sure to reserve the hot tub if you want to go in, it only fits 2 people and the pool has a bunch of pretty flowers and man made creek/fountain thing. I can't say much about their restraunt because unfortunatelly it was only open on the day we arrived and we arrived very late at night so they were closed :( The breakfast however is really great, a wide selection of items and a wonderful woman who greets you once you enter and asks you if you want eggs or sausage and cleans your table off for you be sure to TIP her guys, she's the sweetest and deserves it! The ONLY reason they are not 5 stars is because the front desk staff needs much improvement! They don't go out of your way to answer questions and they don't smile very much. So front desk, get it together guys, you're bringing the place down (I've worked in the hospitality industry for years and expect what I give)!
Review Source:This review is strictly about the food. We did not stay there and the grounds are adorable. The train ride is memorable.
The food and service however is average yet pricey.
We had four entrees
Rack of lamb, my husband did not enjoy
Filet ok
Special flat iron steak with blue cheese was the best, but all the favors were from the cheese .
It seems these cooks don't know how to get favors from technique. Had a steak with a unidentified sauce and it was completely flavorless.
On behalf of the wait staff and restaurant, I did send mine back and was givin a replacement which was better, not great, and certainly not worth the 30 dollar price tag.
The service is slow, which is probably fine. Â it is a relaxing environment. We could have at least gotten our drinks faster.
The decor is far better than the food,
I understand this is a new owner, possibly the quality has changed.
