Expensive and so-so Food/Drinks + Screaming Karaoke + Sketch Location + Fairly pricey for a Private* Karaoke room = a seemingly bad recipe for a good drunk night of debauchery and fun.

Come here drunk and expect a good time, but leave with someone to walk you to your car and a considerably more empty wallet. All in the name of a good night? That's fine occasionally.

*Note: as private as hearing the room next to you sing "hit me baby one more time" as you walk to the bathroom after chugging 3 beers.

It's pretty out of the way, but they have parking in the back. Definitely come with someone who speaks and reads Korean. Everything is in Korean .... of course they have English and Japanese songs, but to put it onto the machine, the control fro that is in Korean. I had to press all buttons I thought would be possible to finally figure it out.

It's great you can get your own room, $35, $45, $65 rooms. $45 fits 8 comfortably. They have leather couches in these rooms and you can order drinks when the server comes by. Or ... you can go outside and find the server. They have some pretty recent songs, however, they're not in one place and they're sorted by song names among 4 books in the room. I think you spend more time flipping through the book, so go with a few so you'll have time to look up some songs while someone else sings.

Okay, to tell a you guys that hated this place because it's dirty?! Well here is the news! It's under new owner/management  so it has new sound system and much cleaner. Sorry to break the news but it's not BYOB anymore! This place has side restaurant that serves food and drink.

So I've noticed that New World hasn't gotten a recent review. So let me set the record straight.

It's has a comfortable setting with cushy couches, okay food--which always tastes better when you're drunk. The private rooms is what makes me such a fan. It's perfect for anyone who's bashful to sing around strangers. A song list book I can barely lift, so there's plenty to search through. I believe it's a BYOB, but I'm not certain. What I usually do is bring a little, (or big) bottle of liquor, then order up a 12 pack & shot glasses. That's all you'll need for a set night. That and good vocals.

Running about $25 an hour, is nothing when you split it between folks. Hope you enjoy it.

Good spot.  Basically, what I was hoping Yakitori Boy would model its karoake after, as far as decor, pricing, etc  Not too pricey, decent song selection.

OMG ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!?!? GHETTO ASS NEW WORLD!! and the most DIRTIEST! why!? because all the young bucks be bringing weed, alcohol, and everything up in there and they tear the place apart like crazy! I will never go to new world again because it's just dam dirty now.

YAKITORI's the spot now! or the new place called Music City on 69th and market - it's way cleaner and has a bar!

The only way you are ever going to hear about this place is word of mouth because not only is it tucked away, 90% is of everything there is written in Korean. That being said... This place is probably the only place you will see me EVER do karaoke.
The biggest deterant for doing karaoke is the humiliation of singing "Cry me a River" to a bunch of laughing strangers. Here you onlyget laughed at by your friends in your own private room. Trust me its alot easier to get your karaoke cherry popped that way.

Korean/Asian Karaoke where you get your own private rooms and then sing your brains out. I have enjoyed every time i've gone. Probably because i'm so insanely in love with karaoke and i always manage to go with great groups of people. The rooms have always seemed reasonably priced.

(i made a new entry for new world karaoke to avoid confusion)
also, i realized the map on google is a little misleading. The New World "Complex" is actually on the NE Corner of Olney and Front. To get to the karaoke, you can go past Front on Olney and turn left into the gated parking lot down the hill. The entrance to the karaoke is next to the entrance with the stairs.
