Tried to go back and it was horrible. Watched one of the cooks go to the bathroom and leave without hand washing. The main lady in charge ( not sure if it is the owner) was not kind to the waitstaff, we waited 10 mins for a table, 10 mins for a menu, 10 minutes for our drinks.
I loved the ravioli, however my husband ordered a pizza and 28.00 for a bacon and pineapple pizza is outrageous! When we asked how come the Hawaiian combo was cheaper and had more toppings, she skirted around the issue. We did not want to make a scene so we just paid our bill.
We will not being trying it a fourth time.
I think maybe 2 stars is a little more fitting, but it's "OK". Â The talk of the owners is pretty much spot on, but irrelevant. Â I have had good pizza's & service here, hit and miss. Â I really liked it back when "Bob" owned it. Â I understand why some of the people put 5 Stars, yah you pickle! Â I think lunch is the best time to go.
Review Source:As a former Bellingham resident now living in New Jersey I can tell you the pizza servered here is nothing like what they have in New York, barring a Dominos in Queens.
This is a review from a meal I had with friends in April 2012 I've been meaning to post:
My wife and I arrived at 5:30pm, a half hour before the reservation (though it was on accident.) The on-site manager quickly pulled together our table in the back corner of the restaurant and within a few minutes we were seated with menus and flatware.
It was only the two of us and we were early for our reservation, but we waited over twenty minutes without being offered water, drinks, or any type of service. I finally made eye contact with the manager and gave the universal sign for drinks, after five more minutes she came over stating "I'm sorry but you weren't supposed to be in until 6pm and my other waitress isn't on until then and the front filled up." At which point she took our drink orders.
There were two other tables sitting less than 15 feet from us who were receiving food and drink service, I'm not sure why we were ignored for 25 minutes. Had I known arriving as part of a group would cause this, we simply would have sat at another table in the front.
As our friends arrived our waitress (Krista M) came to take their drink orders and while doing so held her arm above her head and picked something on her lower bicep as she spoke to us, not the most pleasant experience.
After about 20 minutes everyone had their drinks and meal orders were placed. Then the wait began, it was about a half hour before the few salads ordered showed up, there were three caesars and all were missing croutons, however our waitress left so quickly, no one had the time to bring it to her attention and everyone was so hungry we simply ate. The next time we saw Krista, she dropped off a half dozen glasses (there were 11 of us) and a pitcher of water, she said nothing and after asking us to hand her our plates, she disappeared again.
After clearing the plates we brought to Krista's attention that cold air was blowing down on half the table, people were putting their jackets back on. Her response consisted of "I don't know where the vents are" and again she left. It was a half hour before she returned.
About 7pm the food starting coming out, one or two dishes every few minutes. With 11 people those with food had to start immediately partly because we had been waiting so long, but also because the cold air was cooling off the food quickly. From the first dish to the last was 12 minutes. I know one waitress was assigned to our table, but for serving the food it would have been nice to have someone else help.
As for the food there were issues on several of the plates (e.g. missing sauces) but again, with the service we'd already received, better to just eat through it. For those who ordered alcoholic drinks, refills were given. For those with soda, we never saw a drop beyond the first glass. Another 15 minutes passed before the empty plates were removed, we simply sat their wanting our bills. A few of the ladies from our group went to the restrooms and returned complaining that it was dirty and smelled.
Just before 8pm our bills arrived, there were about 5 couples, so I understand it taking some time to ring up. but a few had to be sent back due to errors. To my surprise, our server announced that gratuity had already been added, 18% to be exact. This was unexpected since there is nothing on the menu mentioning automatic gratuity for large parties nor is there a sign in the lobby (I checked both.) Also, when I paid with cash, I was shorted the coins due to me, it was a small amount, but I feel customers are due all their change.
By 8:30pm we left, I was the last out the door and ran into the manager and made a point to let her know my disappointment with the meal, service, and bill. She again apologized for the wait we had when we arrived, but justified it by how busy the "front" was. I let her know of the horrid service, errors with the food, and automatic tip that I did not feel was ethical or deserved. She apologized, saying that we were our waitresses only table so there was no excuse and that she would talk to her. I again explained my concerns with the tip and lack of service, I expressly said this would have been a rare occasion where I would not have tipped given the lack of service. She simply apologized, and it was then I realized she was part of the problem.
To sum up the evening, we were left waiting, received poor service, sat in a cold room, did not receive any attention for extended, were overcharged by 18%, and were short changed on money due back. I have 10 years experience in the restaurant and service industry and cannot think of another dinning experience that left such a sour taste in my mouth.

To be fair the owner did contact me after I reached out with my complaint. He did applogize, said it was due to staffing, and offered a $50 gift certificate
Not impressed by this place. We went into the bar for some food and a drink, and were un-immediately and very rudely greeted by a very angry gal Kyla. While our pizza was average-ok, the service was disgusting.
Beyond the terrible service, we overheard some stuff that a customer should NEVER hear in a restaurant from an employee.
Courtesy of Raging Angry Kyla:
-The customer sitting in the booth is an "a**hole regular"
-She hates the people who just left.
-The owner apparently got beat up for unpaid debts in his previous construction business.
-The owner never pays anything on time and is universally hated by staff
-The owner's wife is "really fake"
Note: This is all stuff overhead by more than one customer as she's talking to ANOTHER CUSTOMER.
I wonder how she treats the rest of her guests when she talks about owners and regulars that way.
In addition to waiting a ridiculously long amount of time for our average food.. this place is NOT recommended. On the way out my friend subtly pointed out he'd rather choke on festering donkey vomit than go through the troubles of going to NY Pizza, there's a limit to the crappiness of reject service one can stomach without feeling like you got poisoned with negativity and toxicity.
Kyla might want to address her own attitude before badmouthing the people who pay her publicly. Â Jeez.
I'm something of a snob about my New York style pizza. Â Having gone to college in the City, I think it's safe to say, I know a little bit about the music industry. Â I mean, pizza.
Anyways, in my very humble opinion, this comes as close to real NYC style pizza that I've ever had on the west coast.
Their white pizza is something I learned about while in NYC, so I had to try a slice, and was very impressed. Â It's easy to do this pizza wrong....garlic-based sauce, a mixture of white cheeses on top (mozzarella, ricotta, romano, etc.)...it can come off pretty bland. Â Their version had all the right cheeses, with a generous amount of each, and was very nicely seasoned. Â I thoroughly enjoyed it, though I grant it's probably not one of their more popular options.
The pepperoni and sausage was pretty darn good, though not anything way out of this world. Â Still, I very much enjoyed it.
I've never had a problem with service here, and the decor is nice and comfortable. Â I never spent much time in the bar. Â I wouldn't mind stopping in for a drink, but it didn't really strike me as the kind of place I'd hang out in and watch a game or go drinking with the guys. Â The pizza is worth going here for, and that's what I'll stick to doing.
Mike Novak, Thank you so much for your quick response, and for proving my review is accurate and definitely not exaggerated. Â I have had two incidents with you and your wife personally, both times you were both very rude to my wife and I. Â Also you already had a 3 star rating before I reviewed. Â Please be introspective as I would love to try your food again the pasta was amazing. Â Also, Lynden is a small town and I know several people who have worked with you and confirmed exactly what I reviewed. Â Those people have chosen to find employment elsewhere. Â Also take a look at yelp it only uses First name and last Initial. Â Thank You.
Review Source:I don't get the negative reviews below--the only reason I come here is the staff!!!! Â sure, the desserts are awesome and the happy hours are a treat after a long day but the service is REAL (as in, STELLAR). Â I truly recommend trying this spot for food AND company. Â I'm new to the area , and it really made me feel good to come in and be treated like a regular Lynden local. Â This place quickly became one of my "regular" places--LOVE! Â If you're an adult who can hold their drink and loves a decent hang-out session, go here.
Review Source:I go here about 3-4 times a week, its my go to bar. The girls who work there are awesome, and make wonderful drinks. The food is flavorful and fresh, and you get what you pay for in that department. Meaning your going to spend at least $10-$15 for an entree, but in my opinion is worth it. Double happy hour is awesome! (2-6pm, 9pm-Close)
They have an app for iphone and android devices, and a rewards card that generously rewards you if you frequent this establishment. Also a great atmosphere that is warm and inviting, all in all a great restaurant and bar.
If I could choose 0 stars then that'd be great! I came here and it was around 7:30pm on a Friday night. So it was relatively quiet. It took forever to just get our drinks. I decided to order the unlimited fries for happy hour. Let's say it took 40 min to get a half cup portion of semi warm fries. I then wanted to reorder more because they are unlimited and there weren't that many to eat in the first place. It took 30 min to finally get the waitresses attention, and that was only bc my friend had to go up to her and ask for another order. The fries came out 30 min later. We never got asked if we needed more water or another drink. The ppl next to us even waited hour and a half to get their meals. The place was definitely not busy... I couldn't even leave a tip bc I was so irritated with the service.
Review Source:The food here isn't that bad, typical pizza joint. The service however is unreal!
The last time we went, we waited over an hour for two slices of pizza. It was dead in there, only one other table, we didn't even get soda refills.
We were enjoying our conversation, so we put up with it.
When my husband politely mentioned at the end of the meal that it had been such a long wait, the waitress tossed the cheque down and walked off without a word.
Next thing you know the manager, (at least we assume it was the manager), comes out to announce to us that we won't be getting any money off our meal, which we never asked for or expected.
My husband was so embarrassed by now, feeling like he had somehow come across as rude, that he apologized and just handed him his credit card to pay.
20 minutes later we get it back, and the waitress wouldn't even look at us.
It was ridiculous.
I always take my two boys to new York pizza and have never had a bad experience. I've lived in Lynden my whole life, and was excited to have a place like this to go. The drinks are amazing! You wouldn't think that a pizza place would have great burgers, but the burgers at new York pizza are THE BEST BURGERS IN LYNDEN!!! they are always cooked exactly how we order them, and are juicy and wondrous. The fries are great and not to mention endless. Â The service is amazing. If I could afford it I would eat there weekly...maybe someday. Try the burgers!
Review Source:This place has the worst service in the world. Â The venue is fine, the food is fine. Â The waitresses here are terrible. Â We never get utensils or napkins without asking, and after we receive our food. Â We wouldn't go here if there was somewhere else to go in Lynden.
They give wine pours that are way smaller than they should be. Â If you want big pours, go to Fireside Martini and Wine bar.
I went last Saturday for my friend's birthday. I was not impressed.
The good: They have two different Happy Hour times, and their Happy Hour prices range from good to great, including both drinks and food items. We will definitely return on a night when we can do some drinking. (But to a different location with hopefully friendlier staff.)
Served as a side item to the salad I ordered was perhaps the best bread I've ever eaten. It was maybe a ciabatta bread or baguette, grilled in flavorful oil? Not sure, because it wasn't listed on the menu, but I would order just that if I could. (It sure beat the food I actually ordered...)
The bad: We were there on a Saturday night at 9p. The place was completely dead. I maybe saw one other table occupied. Despite this, I got the distinct impression from our waitress that we were inconveniencing her. She didn't come around much, and when she did, she wasn't very friendly. I ordered the Cobb salad, sans gorgonzola. It is served with Bleu Cheese, which I normally love. But if you are a fan of rich creamy cheesy bleu cheese, you too will hate what they serve in its place. It had that bitter, sharp taste that cheap bleu cheese has. After dipping the tip of my fork in it and tasting it, I asked her for ranch instead, which she brought me in a teeny tiny cup. I had to ask for another just to cover my salad. The salad was big, but they left off the promised avocado, which I think would have significantly improved the flavor. It was our waitress's bothered attitude that prevented me from asking her for the avocado. The "roasted chicken" they covered the salad with had no flavor at all. It may have been roasted, but I don't think they added any sort of seasoning to it at all. I have a healthy appetite, and I only ate about half my salad. Also, I ALWAYS take leftovers if I don't finish my meal, and I didn't bother. It just wasn't good at all.
The whole experience was just bleh. It was disappointing and expensive. I would be unlikely to return to this location. Though considering the crickets I heard there on a Saturday night, I guess everyone else has already made that decision. I doubt if this place will last much longer.

I can't bring myself to improve the rating, but I don't feel right not giving a follow-up either.
After writing this review, the owner of New York Pizza sent me just about the nicest response I could ever have imagined. He addressed every single one of my concerns, and was very gracious about all of my comments. When I first saw that I had received an email from the owner, I was nervous, because I thought he would be mad and mean. My jaw quite literally dropped by how genuinely nice he was to me.
That said, I've been back twice since then, both times to the Bellingham location...
The first time, I got a free meal for my birthday, plus I ordered a tiny side so I'd have a bill and be able to tip, since I didn't have cash. I got some sort of bacon cheeseburger. I personally didn't like it. But honestly? When it comes to burgers, I'm extremely picky. This tasted like something made at a BBQ at home, which many people will love. I am just not one of them. I also didn't care for the fries which, if I recall correctly, were shoestring. Again, a lot of people love this, but I am not one of them. I asked for a tiny side of bleu cheese, just so I could taste it, as the owner had told me they switched brands after my review. I still didn't like it. My taste in bleu cheese is just more cheesy, and not so sharp and bitter. I like the bleu cheese at Round Table Pizza (a lot), and Red Robin (which isn't GREAT, but it's completely unoffensive). My server was very nice, and actually bent over backwards to make sure I was happy, even though he knew I was using a free birthday coupon. There was nothing to complain about, it just wasn't my cup of tea.
The second time, I went out for drinks with a girlfriend. We ordered a LOT of drinks. Neither of us liked any of them, except the Lemon Drop, which was VERY good, and Mango Makeout, which was okay. Most of them were so heavy-handed on the alcohol, it was all you could taste. When I mentioned that to our server, he lightened up, but to the point I feared they didn't have enough because I couldn't taste any at all. I also thought our server was a little snooty, but he was okay.
All in all, I have to say the level of Customer Service at the ownership level is second to NONE. I've never experienced any like it. But I just can't raise their rating because, for me personally, I've only liked about 30% of the things I've ordered from their restaurants.
I WILL say this, though: Try it for yourself. Go during Happy Hour (they have 2 different Happy Hour times) - they have some decent happy hour options and prices - and give it a chance to see what YOU think.
