We stopped here on a Sunday at 2:00 PM and the place was packed, mostly with Latinos. Â The hostess greeted us with a friendly "Veinte Minutitos" (twenty little minutes) "por favor". Â Luckily, it was a hot day and there was an empty table outside we could grab immediately. Â The fried empanadas platter we had as an appetizer was quite good. Â The Bandeja Paisa (typical Colombian dish) with a monstrous piece of fried pork belly, two fried eggs, steak, rice, beans and fried plantains was just the type of thing your doctor would use as an example of what NOT to eat as part of a healthy diet. Â The tres leches we ordered for desert was large but mediocre at best, using some sort of oil-based whipped cream rather than a dairy product (which in the case of a cake that claims to make use of "three types of milk", is particularly disappointing). Â Pan de Bono (semi-sweet cheese bread) was very fresh and warm. Â We wanted to order some to take home, but stood 5 minutes at the take-out counter without anyone acknowledging us before we left. Â Food was plentiful, cheap but of medium quality. Â Service was OK.
Review Source:I went here with a friend for lunch on a Sunday at about 2pm. Â Parking was fine; restaurant was a little crowded considering it was a Sunday afternoon. We were seated right away. Â Nice crowd and the music was not too loud. I ordered the breaded chicken with plantains and my friend ordered the steak. Â Both were excellent and plenty of food to take home as a snack. Â Be ready to have a nice conversation with your company because service was SLOW. Other than getting our drink, taking our order and delivering the food, there was no interaction between us and the server. No how's your food? Can I get you another drink, would you like coffee or desert or can I get you something else. Â But the bottom line the food was good. For a total of $48 dollars it ok.
Review Source:The fam had a lovely Sat dinner celebrating mama dukes bday.  Easy to get to right off of rt 21 and tons of parking. Got there relatively early so there were still a few open tables and no wait. The restaurant was very nice, small bar up front, round booths for larger parties and comfy chairs at the tables. Mix crowd of well dressed and very casually dressed. My only qualms were that there wasn't an appetizer menu and also my sweet plantains weren't very good. =( and I love me some sweet plantains. We did see the mini empanadas plate and ordered that to start. Everyone got something different but I'd like to emphasize two of us got the mushroom sauce w/ our meals. OMG! That was the most handsomest sauce of all time. We ordered 2 pitchers of sangria which were magical. I didn't ask or look at the bill so I think they were $25 each but they were huge pitchers and absolutely delish. The server was attentive and ensured none of the glasses were empty, he was very polished and polite.  The nice surprise for us was there was a mariachi band playing and they sang at our table also. All the old school songs  I only recognized but didn't really know. But the momz knew the words so that was a treat for her =)  Speaking of treats we didn't order dessert (Dominican cake waiting at home) but u can see them all in their  frig  in plastic container lol yea I wud change that up. But it's a nice Spanish spot and we have every intention of returning again for another family dinner. Total package: large portions, great drinks, good ambience. Family friendly or even date night ;)
Review Source:I like this restaurant and have been here a couple times. Â I specifically like this location more than the others, probably because it's more spacious. Â I love the appetizers (the small balls of sweet bread). Â The food comes in big portions. Â My only complaint is their vegetables lack seasoning. Â I think it's just steamed and then put on the plate, so I wouldn't suggest ordering the veggies with the meal. Â I also love the maduros! Â It's a nice authentic Colombian restaurant!
Review Source:Although the wait staff left much to be desired I really enjoy their bandeja paisa...it was so much food I had lunch for two days after :). The ambiance is nice just try not to go there after 6 on a friday night without a reservation our you will be waiting for a table longer than you will actually be sitting and eating !!! O and try out their happy hour If you can the bartender is heavy handed if you know what I mean :)
Review Source:I was transported to Columbia and back when we went inside.
Be ready for some loud music and signing. Â They have karaoke night on Thursday and they are not shy with the volume.
Food is very generously portioned. Â The chicarron (fried pork skin) was really good. Â We will come back.
Most of the servers don't speak fluent English but they have pictures on the menu so just use the point system and you'll be fine.
They serve alcohol - get the sangria. Â Glad that they have the private parking lot as well.
I'm only giving this place 4 stars because the atmosphere kinda sucks, but the food is yummy. Great portions for the right price and not to mention a full bar! They have delicious sauces on the table too. I ordered the Mar y Chicken - Grilled Chicken With Garlic Shrimp. I love how the menu lists full colored pictures so you know exactly what you're getting yourself into.
Review Source:Big portions. Â nice restaurant inside and out. Â Food needs seasoning and more flavor. Â
I felt like every latino in clifton was here on Saturday when i went. Â it was like Telemundo x10
I got the "popular colombia dish". Â its sausage, beefsteak, fried plantains, fried pork belly, rice, beans, avocado, and the most horrible corn cake ive ever tasted. Â it was "A-OK" but I'm not really dying to come back for it. Â
The pork belly was ofcourse the best thing, but it was very VERY crunchy almost too crispy, and not as good as I was expecting.
Arroz con pollo was not that good either. Â very "out of the can"ish. Â
cheap prices. Â doesnt accept Amex. Â
The empanadas were good tho, get them if you decide to go. Â So is sangria.
If you order the Colombian sampler, you should probably fast for a few days. My god, it's a lot of meat. Artery-clogging, delicious, but overwhelming amounts of meat. That comes with beans. If you can manage to eat even the 'small' sampler in one sitting, your cardiologist is going to remain very profitable.
Review Source:For what your paying you get  huge Portions. If you order alot be prepared to take food home. This restaurant and all the others near by are very clean. The food comes out quick and randomly, sometimes your partner will get it before you do which is strange. The service can get a little slow on weekends and busy nights, if you have a large crowd in your party (6 or more) you will have slow service. On random weekends they have live music and people walking around selling roses. Great place to eat at, highly recommended.
Review Source:Gets very packed and loud on weekends, prepare to wait if you have a large party. Â Also, services is a little slow depending on the amount of customers.
Aside from that, the food is excellent and priced very well. Â Portions are often huge and food is always fresh. Â A little slow coming out but worth the wait.
Needed to find a nice place for dinner in Clifton with a friend, so I picked this place after reading the reviews and talking with a co-worker who's more familiar with Latin American cuisine than I am.
My friend and I started with Camarones Al Ajillo (but switched the green for yellow plantains at his suggestion--great call) and the shrimp were cooked to perfection. Â My co-worker had recommended trying the Bandeja Paisa, so I went with that. Â Everything was quite tasty and it was a great value, too, at ~$16 for a huge plate of good food.
Our server was super-friendly (if a little bit slow to check on us; the place was nowhere near full on this Wednesday night) and the Happy Hour drinks were OK. Â While not a negative per se, the place was very brightly lit on the evening we went and I think the place would seem more inviting with a little dimming.
Overall, definitely worth a visit!
Portions Portions Portions! This is a really nice place with very good food. Â The meals come on gigantic plates with huuuuge portions. Â A dinner for two can easily feed 4 and leave a doggie bag to take home. Â Pretty much everything on the menu is good, so be daring and try it all! Â Great place to bring a larger crowd to celebrate a small occasion.
Review Source:The atmosphere is amazing. Families, couples, friends. The food was good but didn't have a lot of flavor. I would go back again to try their fried fish, which I saw alot of people ordering. Not sure if it was just my waiter but he dissapered for 20 min while we were waiting for our check.
Review Source:Great columbian eatery with reasonable prices.
It is a large well lit place. It is very busy but there was not a wait for get a table
on Friday evening. The service is great. Â
Their menu is large but it has clear large pictures of the food, so you know
exactly what you getting if you are not familiar with Columbian food.
This is my go to spot for colombian food. Â There are couple of these around the north jersey area and the Clifton, Englewood, and Fairview ones being my favorite. Â The portions at Noches are ridiculous. Â Entrees can usually be split with two people or wrapped to go for lunch the next day. Â But hey if you are feeling really hungry and put down an entire entree you will most certainly be in a food coma!
All dishes are really good and you can't go wrong no matter what you order so just go with whatever you are in the mood for. Â Some of the typical dishes are Bandeja Paisa, Bistec empanizado, Pechuga encebollada...
If you like latin food and/or colombian food in particular definitely stop into a Noches.
I came here for a friend's birthday and was not disappointed. Â
Located in Clifton around Botany Village, this particular area has been becoming a hidden gem of mine, as I have been finding nice local spots in the area to eat.
As an appetizer, I order one of their special breads, the Pan de Bono. Â Apparently they bake this bread fresh around every 30 minutes and you can definitely tell by tasting it. Â Pan de Bono is bread baked with cheese inside, but the cheese is not overwhelming, there is just enough cheese to taste the goodness of how fresh and soft the bread is baked! Â I would definitely take many Pan de Bonos home and eat them!
As for my entree, I ordered the Pechuga con Camarones (Grilled Chicken and shrimp in white cream sauce). Â This platter was delicious and the cream sauce added a good taste to the overall chicken and shrimp. Â In addition, I would like to say that all the entrees my friends and I got were big. Â The people at this Colombian restaurant know how to serve food to their guests. Â You really do get your money's worth here. Â There are many more items on the menu I would love to try.
The decor of this restaurant is very nice and clean. Â They really do keep the Colombian theme in this restaurant. Â Service was good, as they were very attentive to my table as we had a party of 10+ people.
While speaking to another friend about this place, I need to come back here and try to the Bandeje Paisa, apparently it is one of the most popular dishes here and I will be trying that next time I come here!
Oh and apparently this place has other locations, including ones in Passaic, North Bergen, Union City, Fairview, Englewood, and West New York, so if you have a location near you, try this authentic Colombian restaurant and you will likely bring food home since the portions here are so generous!
Noches in Clifton is a top notch quality affordable authentic Colombian eatery.
My family which is Colombian eats here constantly and always raves about the authenticity and quality of the food.
I have yet to eat a sit down meal here but I will tell you this, skip everything and just come for the empanadas. That way u wil have plenty of room to devour these deep fried pockets of awesome goodness.
This is hands down my go to place when I am craving these crunchy seasoned to perfection crispy meat pies.
I have come here to buy just one and for the oddest of reasons I always end up leaving with 5, don't ask me how? Lol it just happens and it may just happen to u too, so don't b laughing lol
Once I ended up leaving with about two dozen. And they were magically gone within 10 minutes of putting them out at the Christmas party I brought them too. Def was getting raves for days. And the ahi sauce for dipping is just a totally kick ass gift from the Colombian chef who concocted this great slightly spicy condiment. Perfection!!!
As you can tell by now I tend to just come here for the beef empanadas to go, and def hands down found them to be the best made in the area.
They are always super fresh and crispy and the filling is the right mix of beef and potato n are seasoned just right..
For about a dollar a piece they are ons of the best most perfect cheap eats.
The resturant has a full bar and also has live music during the weekend. They also make fresh made tropical juice drinks.
A real gem!!!
Man vs. Food should do a food challenge here with a supersized version of the Bandeja Paisa. Â This place is just damn good Colombian food...get the paisita (smaller version) if you're not awesome enough to eat a giant steak, fried eggs, chicharrones, an avocado, rice, refried beans, and a corn cake. Â
This place is always packed when I stop in on weekends...full bar, lively atmosphere, and very good food. Â Added this to my list of regular spots.
We headed to this place on Mothers Day...big mistake because it was packed!!!!! But the long wait was worth it. The food portions are large, the prices are perfect, the Sangria was fantastic!!! I didn't care too much for the super loud music, they sat us right by the speaker and we were shouting amongst us - could barely hear the waiter but after a couple of glasses of Sangria we didn't care! Great place to check out, we plan on visiting their other locations.
Review Source:Last Sunday we stop for lunch. The place looks very nice but is laud. The menu was very impressive. Big selection not expensive. The food smell so good. Big portions, pleasant presentation. Everything what we ordered were  very tasty. Service was very good and nice, although not all the waiters are good in English. Parking was easy. Certainly we will return to this restaurant.
Review Source:Been here twice in last 2 months. Â Both times we left with take-home containers that were big enough for another meal. Â Absolutely delicious! Â Loved the bandeja paisa.... only one issue about the food. Â The sides of black beans appeared to have been "watered down". Â Never saw that before. Â The beans were a bit hard and instead of a nice thick consistency, the bean sauce was "watery". Â
Also it was jammed packed and very loud both times we went. Â First time we went, the only seats available were at a tall wobbly pub set push up against a side wall. Â We had to remove all the salt, pepper shakers and napkin holder because Only 2 plates fit on the pub table. Â The server had to use a pub table behind us to place all our side down. Â Thats was annoying. Â Such a large pace and we had to get up and walk to next table when we wanted to take a bite of our sides. Â
Second time, we still could not get a table and were seated at the back bar in stools. Â It wasn't much of a working bar; it was more of a work station for the cashiers and servers. Â Several employees were there taking phone orders, paying bills, wrapping up orders, etc.... Â It was too loud and somewhat intrusive because we had to move our stools each time an employer had to reach over the counter. Â Best advice would be not to sit at the back bar for an intimate dinner.
We loved the food (beans may have been a mishap). Â We may just call ahead next time and order the food to go... Unless of course we can be seated at a regular table.
Where do I even begin. As I write this review my mouth is salivating just thinking about the wonderful taste and smell of the food this restaurant churns out. I'm even having difficulty putting together cohesive sentences. This place is just so gosh-darn delicious! This particular location is relatively new compared to the one in Englewood but the quality of food is all there. And the portions are ENORMOUS. Â I ordered the Bandeja paisa and boy-oh-boy was I in for a treat. I managed to gulp down half of the platter when I slipped into a food coma. Even in that state I still dreamt of chicarrones, pargo roja, and empanadas. When I regained consciousness I realized I still had half of my plate to finish. Ohhh the humanity!
Now that I've pretty much gushed about the food (and I'm sure I've convinced many to try them), I want to add something about the place. Service is great and not as slow as others have pointed out. The atmosphere fits perfectly with the Colombian theme they're trying to convey. Also if you are in a hurry they have a take-out section in the back where you can go to order food to bring home and savor for days to come.
All the reviews are spot on. Â Food is good, service not-so-much.
I had a late lunch there -- around 2pm on a Saturday and every table was full. Â
When I was there, I also placed an order of 'picada' (tray of mixed meats with yuca and patacon) and told them I would pick it up around 7pm. Â Went back later that evening around 7:20 to pick up the order. Â It wasn't ready. Â I had to wait 30 minutes for it to be prepared.
This is one of their nicer locations, located in Passaic / Clifton border by the K-Mart Botany Village plaza. Food is delicious and plenty, there's somewhat of a language barrier, some servers speak English and some pretend like they don't. Had an issue with a jackass server there once who messed up our order and brought out the same plate of food 3 times and tried passing it off as if it was new. Manager fixed the issue right quick. Very delicious food and PLENTY. At times there's live music basically keyboard and woman singing and there's also karaoke some nights. but again this is about the food, section in the back if for take out.
Review Source:Ay Dios mio do they give you alot of food! Â Bring your serious He-Man appetite to this place.
I had the Bandeja Paisa, which is their typical Colombian plate. Â I was starving when I came here and didn't even come close to finishing this monstrous platter. Â My dog had trouble just finishing the leftovers.....no joke!
Let's see, it came with steak, sausage, deep-fried pork, maduros, rice & beans, avocado and 2 fried eggs........more or less enough to feed a small kindergarten class.
And did I mention the price for this behemoth portion......only $14.95!!! Â I haven't had alot of Colombian food so I can't really comment on it's authenticity, but it all tasted pretty damn good to me!
The place itself has a nice clean modern decor and pretty roomy. Â They also serve beer, wine and sangria. Â Cool little hidden gem right in Botany Village.
