Dingy, dimly lit dive bar that serves really tasty seafood.
Garlic fries are a definite.
Fried clams mixed with the garlic gravy from the fries was surprisingly good.
Lobster rolls, scallops, crab cakes are all really good.
This place does not disappoint as long as you lower your expectations and know you're heading to a dive bar.

ON MY SECOND TRIP THERE I was more familiar with what to (not) expect, the portions are so small, they put 9 french fries or a child's cereal bowl of pasta on the same plate with your frozen (DEFINITELY NOT fresh) seafood...the shrimp were miniature, the scampi sauce was tasteless, and the overall value is poor, this is not a gem with FRESH seafood, the gimmick is low prices and tiny portions. The burgers I saw coming out looked similar to hot grill but with no toppings but ketchup, the garlic fries are fries with a tablespoon of chopped garlic in oil, blech....skip them , not good. will not be returning, 2 visits proved they are way over-rated and very filthy...you can't get home fast enough to get to the toilet. I tried, 2 stars for the service, no real attention young kid was pleasant and joking with me, everyone else doesn't smile and acts like they're doing you a big favor. they made the guy next to at the bar visibly upset with several rude comments about his ignorance of "what they do here", bull!!! he should have left, I tried to talk to him but he was actually too embarrassed to answer ( tears in his eyes) who needs that? try if you must, but be warned all shrimp, clams and mussells come from bulk bags of frozen seafood, not sure about the 1 1/2 ounce lobster tails, 2 for $14. plus a child's portion of rice or spaghetti. and take immodium before you go to hold back the log flume. no thank you, rather go to Blarney Station for fresh fish and great chips ( fries) for $1 more.

I've been craving fried oysters in the worst way and decided to visit DP Pub on a weeknight with the hubby after reading some Yelp reviews.  True to the reviews,  DP is a little hole-in-the-wall establishment in the heart of Garfield.  There is limited parking in the back.  

The menu is on a wall and I didn't have my glasses or contacts so hubby had to read the menu items to me.  The pricing is unbelievable.  I kept asking him if he was sure he was reading the prices right.  I ordered the fried oysters of course and thought they were tasty.  Not the best I've had, but they were fresh.  They could've used a little more seasoning though.  I also ordered the bacon wrapped scallops and OMG thought I was in heaven.  So succulent and sweet and juicy...YUMMMM.  I was still hungry afterwards and ordered a basket of fried clams.  I could barely taste and clam but I think I paid like $2 for the basket so it was all good.  Hubby ordered the chicken parm and was disappointed.  Obviously the selling point here is there seafood!  Beer was cold and cheap...just like I like it.  

If you are looking for a nice 5 star joint to eat at, this is not the place.  However, if you want some fresh tasty seafood, that is very reasonably priced with no frills then you gotta check this place out.  I would give them another star but unfortunately, the service left much to be desired.  The bartender did not even acknowledge my husband and I for a good 10 minutes at least and her attitude was not that great.  Almost like she would rather us have not been there.  Also, the place is cash only.  Not that big of a deal, but come one, its 2013.
