So many people raved about the veggie burger. I made the mistake of going here again and decided to get that. It was not only not a good veggie burger, but perhaps one of the worst meals ever. It was super soggy, flavorless and was so big it was spilling out all over the bun and plate. I don't expect veggie burgers to taste like real meat burgers, if I wanted that I'd order it, but I want it to be texturally appealing and taste good. This had neither.
Review Source:Excellent beer bar, best in the area by far. Â Food is excellent, although I usually stay on the grilled items if unsure. Â The buffalo chicken dip appetizer is outstanding. Â Some of the others are hit or miss- I found the hummus and the quesadillas to be average, but the egg rolls were very good. Â They do vary the menu seasonally, and the beer list almost monthly, so you can usually find something new if you are so inclined. Â The burger is always excellent, and my favorites include the short rib, the jambalaya, and the stroganoff. Â I usually eat in in the bar area, although it can get pretty crowded between 5 and 7.
Review Source:Food is pretty good, however the service at the bar was pretty mediocre to say the least. The woman bartending neglected to tell me a beer I ordered would be served in a wine glass... got the beer and was puzzled, asked why it was served in a smaller glass. She claimed it had 10% alcohol and therefore they had to serve it in a wine glass... would have been nice to know that before I purchased the beer. Half a beer, less than half a tip. Whatever floats her boat.
Review Source:Went here for dinner a couple of weeks ago on our way through MA. At first glance, it seemed like a typical run of the mill suburban restaurant. Â I had the eggplant parm which was not very good -- the eggplant was undercooked so it was tough, and the breading was too thick. One redeeming quality of this dish was, however, that it was topped fresh good quality mozzarella.
The big surprise of the meal was the pan seared scallops served over angel hair with mushrooms, peppers and spinach. It was very good - the scallops were plentiful, the flavor was good, and the tomato broth that brought it together was light and not overpowering. Only thing wrong with this dish was that the pasta was slightly overcooked.
I went on a Saturday, after the lunch rush. Contrary to other reviewers opinion, you usually get slower service when a place is quiet.
Not so.
Actually I have been intrigued by the place, but the name put me off.
"Grill" in the name implies a menu with little to no vegetarian options.
I was driving by with my husband and we looked up (what did I do before my iphone?) Veg burger on the menu? We gave it a try, and glad we did.
Our waiter was lovely! As soon as we said the V word, he knew exactly what to do- fries cooked separately, etc. It is hard to have to explain yourself, so I really try to support establishments that took 5 minutes to understand.
I thought the homemade veggie burger was fantastic! My husband did not like it at all and ordered something else- portabello wrap on a roll (I hate wraps, the tortilla is never warmed up and always tastes like raw dough)
He was so happy, he said it was worth the disappointment of the burger. Did I mention I loved the burger? A little messy, with tastey curry flavor. Yumm!!!
We also shared the sour cream and chive fries- wow! So good, and crispy! the homemade ranch was divine! And kudos for using real chives- I have a huge pet peeve for places that call green onions chives.
The coffee was even especially good- I think it may have been just super fresh.
We will be back!
I find the food generally ok, although I stick with the Fish and Chips or sandwiches. I love the Monte Christo, but the pulled pork and the burgers are also consistenly satisfying.
What has been frustrating me from day 1 is that you cannot get fresh bread.
I am most critical of the beer selection, because the quality is so unpredicatable and it is usually a gamble. I have had a great Warsteiner on draught, but whatever you order, you have to be lucky to get a freshly opened keg. The lesser known beers don't sell much and can be stale more often than not.
The service is a mixed bag and it depends on who you get. We find the more experienced staff members attentative and knowledgeable.
Overall, the Noon Hill Grill is a slightly overpriced pub food-type restaurant with no local competition in this segment. We go there because there are no other choices in a 5-mile radius.
There aren't a whole lot of dinner places in the Medfield area, but this one is solid.
I usually eat up at the bar, and I'm a huge fan of trying different beers. Â
What I like about this place is that it prides itself in changing up the taps but never gets too crazy (like those places with 100 stale taps/beers). Â The bartenders are usually very friendly and know about the beers which is key.
The food is usually very good, but I have to admit that I really only like the salads here. Â I love the Steak tip salads but my wife does like the burgers and fish.
I visited the Noon Hill Grill just the other day. I was somewhat disappointed with my meal. My friends all ordered the steak tips and I ordered the pan seared scallops. They all thoroughly enjoyed their meal, but mine left much to desired. The scallops' texture was off-putting and the dish lacked flavor. Â My friends all swear by this place, so I will perhaps give it another try....
Review Source:We were impressed! We got a burger and a salad, and split both. Great beer selection, including some of their own. Small place; while seated we felt like we were actually there on our own, not in the middle of a big group with everyone else.
The menu seemed to offer something for everyone, and the prices were right up our alley. Will definitely return.
I love this place. Â I come here often.
The service is great, and since I am a regular, they always remember me and say hello.
The food is good. Â They offer some fancy stuff, but I come for the burgers or the twisted Cobb salad (no corn, no avocado please).
This place is near my home and is a perfect dining location for those evenings when we don't feel like cooking. Â It is always crowded which is a great sign that everyone loves the place.
Noon Hill Grill is a great local restaurant located in the town of Medfield. Â It's a little bit of a drive for me to get there but I would say it's worth the extra drive time. Â My girlfriend and I decided to dine in the bar area because it seemed more lively and it had fewer families (fewer kids) and the we prefer high top tables compared to spacious booths.
The menu itself has something for everybody and their prices are reasonable in my opinion. Â I decided to get the pulled pork sandwich and my girlfriend ordered the turkey burger. Â I have to admit, I've had pulled pork at many restaurants but this pulled pork was spot on the Best I've ever had! Â It had the perfect amount of spice and sweetness. Â I can't stand it when restaurants don't put some spice in the recipe because it really brings out the flavor of the meat. Â The turkey burger tasted good too, but it looked too plain for my tastes, but my girlfriend enjoyed it.
Noon Hill Grill also has an affordable and vast array of wine and beer. Â We didn't order any dessert, but our waitress did give us free cornbread for an appetizer. Â She was extremely nice and let us read the specials because it was a little loud that night. Â Overall Noon Hill Grill is a great local restaurant that hosts big flavor and solid entrees along with friendly service. Â I will definitely make the extra drive and make Noon Hill Grill one of my regular hang outs.
Based on the menu alone I would give this place 4-stars, but based on my experience last night I have to give it a negative review.
We ordered Mayflower IPA off the menu. Â They didn't have it. Â Ordered the only IPA they said they had, a 21st Amendment IPA, and the beer I got tasted like sour lemons. Â They did replace my beer, which I appreciate, but they told me it was just really hoppy and I must not be used to it. Â I know what hops taste like.
Here is a primer for how to deal with this situation in the future: if a customer says a beer is bad, or food or anything else, first just check it. Â This beer was obviously infected. Â Next, whether or not you agree, just say something like, "I'm sorry you didn't like it, I'll look into it." Â No need to get into who is right and who is wrong. Â Condescension just wipes away what you think of as a nice gesture in replacing the item, and in my eyes I was served spoiled food and then told it wasn't spoiled.
Plus, assuming that the customer doesn't know what they're talking about isn't always a safe course of action. Â You never know, you might be talking to a brewer.
This is a gem of a place. They have beer and cocktail specials, the menu is varied enough to satisfy most everyone, and they are friendly as well. I had the Hippie Veggie Burger with greens. A huge burger! Very tasty, the greens are plentiful, I had the orange sesame dressing, which was so tasty. We have had the hummus plate too, loads of pita, fresh veggies.
Overall, this is a good family place, and the bar scene later at night is lively and fun. Parking lot provided too.
I have come to realize that this is the most consistent, delicious, and most worthwhile restaurant around.
Every single time we return here I wonder why we go anywhere else! The menu boasts amazing specials, seasonal beers/cocktails, and everything comes out great.
Whoever that chef is behind the scenes REALLY knows what he is doing. Â The food is proof of that. A perfect example would be the most recent visit (around St. Patrick's Day) where we were informed by our waiter that the chef has decided to not serve green beans that evening because they were "not up to his standards". Â Most places wouldn't give a damn. Â This is true quality!!
They also have their spring menu out which includes coconut shrimp. Â By far the best I've ever had!!
Again, we had the best waiter in the place who knows his stuff and is able to communicate the specials from memory. Â He knows the menu front and back and is both willing and able to answer any questions regarding preparation, side choices, etc.
I've been here twice now, and I really enjoy the food. If you want a burger, or if you want something more gourmet, you can have it here without having to worry about having your kids with you for dinner. I think the price point is spot on for what you are getting.
The only complaint I have is their ice tea, which is pretty darn gross. I'm not sure why, but it was awful! So don't bother with that.
Although I want to give it 4 stars I can only give 3. If your prices get to certain price point I believe you should be held to a higher standard.
The food is good. My steak tips were excellent, the artichoke and black bean dip was unexpected but tastey. The table service was attentive but the bar service was a little less than to be desired. This is where Noon Hill Grill starts to slip.
If your doing a special on beer you better make damn sure the bartender knows how to sell it. When asked how a beer was, I got a repition of what the beer was called, when asked for further info on taste I was told its good its the only one left. Not much of a salesman, if Noon Hill Grill really wants to be rated higher in my humble book it needs to drop the prices and pretense or kick up the service a little.
Noon Hill is a welcome departure from the typically bland Americana food the likes of Applebee's and Joe's serves up. The fact that I actually mention such abominations in a review for Noon Hill is an affront, because Noon Hill combines delicious food, solid pricing, and great service that results in a pleasant dining experience.
Some dishes are pricey, sure, but on average there are many good deals on the menu - especially given the amount of food you wind up with. The Medfield Tracks burger is a good choice for the price, and the french fries are some of the best I've had in the local area.
Our server was outstanding. I can't recall his name, but he was completely on the ball and extremely personable. I suspect that he even hooked my party up with what seemed to be an unusually large piece of Chocolate cake for dessert. I understand desserts are to be shared, but I didn't expect what amounted to nearly a quarter of a cake either!
Biggest surprise the Noon Hill grill has to offer? The Hummus/Pita appetizer. Their hummus is VERY good, even beating out Middle Eastern restaurants I've been to. Comes highly recommended.
In fact, Noon Hill comes highly recommended. Good food at decent prices. Having grown up in the area (now living in Boston), I'm going to say that I can't think of a better place in Medfield to sit down and eat some simple, feel good food.
Food is really good...It's nice to have a local place that isn't upscale or snooty and serves a good plate of food.
No major gripes, the tracks burger is one of my favorite items, but the bbq turkey tips took me by surprise as to how good they were.
the prices aren't outrageous, the only downside is that some of the Medfield residents that come here think they are better than you, don't let them fool you though
I've passed by this place so many times and wondered if it was any good. Well my girlfriend and I were on our way to hike this restaurant's namesake Noon Hill and thought we'd stop at the Friendly's across the street for lunch. Friendly's was packed, so we figured we'd give this place a try and boy were we suprised!
They have a great selection of burgers, sandwiches, and salads, all for around 8 or 9 dollars. She went with a classic burger and I went for the buffalo chicken sandwiches. A short time later and we were served up some of the biggest, juiciest, tastiest sandwiches we've ever had. This was no microwaved chicken patty with Frank's Red Hot like you'd get at most places. This was a humungous sandwich packed with piece of grilled chicken, blue cheese, lettuce and tomato.
We both got fries with it and again we were incredibly impressed. Great quality all around.
We usually don't go for dessert in places but we hazarded the $8 chocolate cake and again it was gigantic! This has to be the only time I've ever felt I've gotten bang for my buck on a slice of cake.
Not so great if you're into portion control but if you want to get a reasonably priced meal and leave with a full stomach, this place is amazing.
Looks like we've found our new favorite lunch place!
Noon Hill is a great break-out-of-the-norm restaurant. Â If you're sick of doing the Applebees, Chilis, TGIF, thing, try Noon Hill. Â It has some great homemade takes on some old classics; my favorite is the pulled pork.
Be aware, though, Noon Hill comes with a price. Â Dinner platters can be up to at least $20, and though the taste justifies the cost, it makes visiting frequently an out-of-reach proposition for those on a budget.
The facilities are well maintained, the dining room, and bathrooms are clean and comfortable. Â On a downside, Noon Hill lacks space to accomodate their growing fanbase, resulting in longer wait times. Â The waitstaff are adequate, though I wouldn't say they go out of their way to be super pleasant.
Plusses:
Great for a Change
Place is clean and comfortable
Minuses:
More expensive than other comparable chain restaurants
Small, making seating a lengthy process.
EXCELLENT!!!!!
Good food that is not out of a box...homemade yum! Â The kids love the mac&cheese. Â It's very hard to find a family place that is NOT a chain restaurant and has good for for the grown-ups, but this is IT for us!!!! Â My family is there quite frequently.
FAVORITES:
Homemade coconut cake
Parmesean crusted haddock with homemade rice pilaf and broccoli
Jambalaya
Steak tips over mashed potatoes with sauteed green beans
The good - awesome manager that was very attentive; good food; reasonable prices
The bad - 25min wait, after having called ahead (but in fairness we had been warned there could be a wait - we were with my grandmother, so it sucked having her have to stand and wait); no seating area while you waited; our waitress was slowish, and disappeared for a little bit; our table in the dining room was cold - which is why we were freezing and needed some manager attention!
The Ugly - definitely a family place, with lots of tweens and kids = ugg boots and northface jackets galore.
Overall, we had a really nice meal, and the manager really cared that we were comfortable. Â I would definitely go back.
I think I would give this place a 3 1/2 stars if I could but you can't so i'm rounding up to 4. Â Have been there 5 times or so and the food has always been good, not gourmet but consistently good. The bar area is definitely where you want to eat. The back diningroom is clean but it feels a bit like a family restaurant, like an upscale Dennie's maybe, Â rather than the bar/grill feel up front.
The beer selection always has something new to try and all the pub-style food is always hot and well cooked. Â My wife tried some-type of squash ravioli there that was outside her usual choice but the server recommended and she was very happy with the choice. Â I had a bolognese pasta dish which was also very good.
This is a place that won't knock your socks off but a place you could go back again and again and not be dissapointed either. Great for a neighborhood bar and grill. Â What I really woudl like is if they would open a second location in Natick Center. I think it would do fantastic business.
GREAT burgers that make you crave another one right after visiting. The prices are reasonable although a touch high for what you get. The food is very good and a decent atmosphere especially in the bar area. The dining room is kind of boring and plain. Service sometimes is a touch slow but the food makes up for the long wait. They do a great job with take-out too.
Review Source:Noon Hill has evolved into a decent family spot with reasonable prices, good array of selections, and hometown atmosphere. Most dinner entrees are in the $12-$22 range with a nice selection of appetizers and sandwiches; Â food quality decent+ (not urban chic, but not suburban crap); comfortable selection of beer, wines and drinks. As a vegan, I would not normally go to Noon Hill, but vegetarians and vegans will find enough choices to be able to comfortably dine with meat-eaters (which is what brings us here on occasion). Â Their homemade Veggie Burger (menu says "made by a real vegetarian") is really nice. Â Portion sizes are on the large size, especially desserts, so be careful if you are calorie conscious. Â The dining room can feel a bit crowded and can be a bit loud, but the bar area and patio are more relaxing. All in all, a good, honest, reliable dining experience that's fairly priced.
Review Source:This new addition to the Medfield Restaurant scene is in the former building that housed Boca Restaurant. Â The owners completely redesigned the interior of the building. Â It has a small bar area, and some patio seating for those of who want to watch the traffic from 109 go by. Â The food is good, service can use some work.
