Funny I think Crocodile Dundee was the last film I watched at Norwood too. It was dark and showing it's age even back then in the late 80s.
Originally built in 1927 it has just been completely restored. I understand that about $10 million was spent restoring it to its former glory plus adding a geo thermal heating system, etc. The seats have been completely redone with the same pattern as the original fabric and they're very comfortable. They did an awesome job throughout with the woodwork, lighting, carpet, and as mentioned in the review above even the bathrooms.
For Valentine's Day my wife and I decided to go see Casablanca here, it was nice to see a classic film on the big screen just as movie watchers did in 1942. We decided on just popcorn and a few waters but they also serve wine and beer.
For the most part the theatre is set up for live shows, musicals, comedy acts, with the occasional film. It's really nice to something so upscale in downtown Norwood to accompany all the nice restaurants that have moved in the last decade or so.
Here's looking at you Norwood Theatre!
The theatre was beautiful when I first saw Crocodile Dundee there in 1987. Now that it's restored and reopened, it is the most beautiful I've ever seen. Even the bathrooms are something to see! Plenty of friendly, adult staff to help you find your way.
If you don't find on-street parking, there are nearby lots that require a couple minutes walk.
