Overall I had a fun time, and would go back. Â It sucks that there's no view, but the area's not too bad, and the misters were nice (we sat outside on the deck). Â Their Redheaded Stepchild beer was pretty good, and the catfish po' boy was good as well.
The negatives - the fries were a tad soggy for me, and our salads were served on a hot plate. Â I hate that. Â Keep up with the dishes and that doesn't have to happen.
Given the size of our party, the service was pretty good.
Better than average brew pub with a selection of roughly 10 drafts from which I'd recommend the very affordably priced sampler, consisting of 4 six ounce servings of the selections of your choice. Food also decent and fresh. A variety of seating options, all with their own atmosphere, including traditional bar/tavern area, an airy and air conditioned indoor dining space and a fun and very popular beer deck.
Review Source:The Northampton Brewery is a good place to eat/ drink, especially if you are sitting in the upstairs deck. Â My group decided to try the place on a whim and were pleasantly surprised, as I had been hearing mixed reviews about this place for a while. Â My friend ordered a beer sampler and we tried several of their IPAs, which were all pretty good. Â We also all ordered sandwiches, which were great, but really nothing spectacular. Â I had a grilled chicken sandwich, another person had the steak and cheese, and another had the Cuban. Â We all felt satisfied but it didn't leave me craving another trip up there. Â The onion rings, fries and pickles were standard, again, good but not great. Â
The service was good but I did have a problem with their plates and silverware. Â The food came out on plates that looked like they were barely washed from their use by a previous diner- greasy and spotted. Â The silverware didn't fare any better and I would have been completely turned off from the place had not been so hungry. Â
Overall, a good place to stop but I'm sure there are better places in Northampton to spend your money.
Since the weather has been nice, I've had dinner outside on the upper deck twice. I have to say I was under the impression that the brewery's food was not that great. I've always had good food there, but maybe it was word of mouth.
My friend and I split two appetizers and a salad. We had the nachos (added avocado), the quesadilla, and the shrimp caesar salad. the nachos were good. A few too many jalapeños for my liking, but overall delicious. The quesadilla was just a cheese quesadilla so nothing exciting, butt he salsa verde was delicious.
The salad was very good... cajun grilled shrimp, plenty of avocado and a delicious caesar dressing. Perfect amount of food for my friend and I. All that plus two (BIG) glasses of wine, and two Angry Orchard ciders for $50. Not bad for a beautiful deck, good service, and good food!
Great beer too!
On a beautiful warm summer eve there's almost no place better to be. The Brewery has a 2 level outdoor deck in the back. Walk all the way through, go out the back door, climb the steps and you'll find it. It's well shaded and every few minutes a fine mist is sprayed to cool you and all the hanging flower plants that decorate the edges. There is a fine choice of burgers and an extensive list of beers to chose from. We went this past Friday. It was 90 degrees outside but so comfortable on the deck!
Review Source:I've gone twice so far, and I'd say that it has its hits and misses.
The first time, I was super impressed. Great beer, the chicken tenders were amazing, and the burger I had was wonderful. Though I had a slight issue with their portions - only 4 chicken tenders for almost 7 buck? Ha. - overall, I was pleased.
The second time I went, though, was messy. It was a Saturday night, and it was PACKED. Service was really slow, food was warm, not hot. It was a little chaotic. Which I suppose is understandable for a Saturday.
If you're going on a weekend, make a reservation ahead of time, just in case. But a pretty solid place overall.
We ducked in here with 10 people after a college graduation. We were seated in a timely fashion which allowed us to have a taste of the brews. The food was good, the service was good especially for our large group. I also liked the Irish jigs the band was playing. Â Definitely worth dropping by if you are into good pub food and a good atmosphere.
Review Source:For me the brewery is the first place I think of when dining in Northampton, and everywhere else is a suggestion. The service is usually very good, along with the beer, and food. It can get real crowded and noisy in the bar area. The hostess area gets real crowded being right next to the bathroom, bar, and entrance. They should really work on that area to make it flow better for staff and customers. So if you're looking for a quiet time I'd ask to sit in the big dining room.
Review Source:I am partial to this place because I have been going here for years. Their food is good and they do a really nice job with making it not your basic pub fare. Their beer just keeps getting better though! It has always been good but the brewer must be branching out to try some new brews because every time I come in I am impressed with what is on tap and what they are trying. It is a lot of fun to hang out at the bar or to sit and have a meal inside or outside. This is a great place to spend the afternoon.
Review Source:No, thanks. Walked in early one afternoon for some drinks and appetizers and sat at the bar. There may have been just a handful of other customers there - so not busy at all. It felt like it might have been an "off day" maybe(??) because we felt as if we were bothering the staff for even being there. It took a really long time for anyone to acknowledge us - considering the place was kinda empty. Once they took our drink order we joked that maybe they were making them from scratch because of how long it was taking. I got my beer and it was half foam. I couldn't believe it... Isn't this place a brewery??? We ended up not finishing our drinks and going elsewhere for food. Serious disappointment. Like I said, maybe an off day for them, but no reason to go back, there are better spots in the NoHo area.
Review Source:Went here with my sister before a Guster show in Northampton. We loved it! The beer was delicious, service was punctual and food was affordable and delicious. We shared a few appetizers but I can say the avocado nachos, the mussels fra diavlo and the catfish bites were all amazing.
The only reason I'm not giving them five stars is because they were out of four of the beers that they brew in house, that was a little disappointing. Overall though, if I lived in town I would  be a frequent patron of this place. I will definitely be back next time I visit!
My friends and family all love coming here, and I do too, but I'm vegan, so the only thing I can order is the veggie burger. If you, like me, tried it a couple years ago and it was cardboard-and-hockey-puck-tasting, then give it another try, because they've changed the recipe. Now it's softer and much more flavorful and I order it every time. Well... It's my only option- but a good one. The beer is fantastic and always a huge selection of draught house beers. I love going there, I just wish they'd put some more options for vegans on their menu.
Review Source:I've been here twice, and the service really killed it for me the last time I was here. I walked in the restaurant and was greeted by the hostess. I asked for a table for one (I was on a business trip), and when I saw the fireplace, I decided that was a good spot for me to read my book and have a quiet dinner alone. I sat there for over ten minutes watching two waiters go to tables around me, and they didn't even look at me. After failing to get the attention of the waiter, I decided to leave. I made sure the hostess knew about the waitstaff, but I didn't even get an apology.
Really bad service, ok food, and the beer is only ok too. I would go to one of the other restaurants in town. There are better places just up the street.
Where is an international businessman on international business training to go after a long day staring at Power Point slides? The answer is most emphatically the Northampton Brewery.
After hearing good things from others, my co-worker and I came here a few times over the course of our week in Northampton. It's a cozy place with lots of wood and fantastic swiveling leather armchairs. That's right. Swiveling leather arm chairs. We just hung around these fantastic chairs and the bar area, as that's all we needed. Well, those things and the beer.
Ah yes, the beer. There are some fantastic craft brews here and at much more wallet-friendly prices than we have north of the border. The selection may be a bit too focused on hoppy beers, but they were still good. The sampler is an excellent way to check out the broad variety of house beers, and they come in respectable 6oz glasses, instead of much smaller ones found in smaller samplers I've come across everywhere else. There was a stout that they had that had really great flavours, and I'm not normally big on stouts. There is also a well stocked bar here as well and upon ordering a single Maker's Mark, I more than got my money's worth with what must have been a triple. God bless you, free pouring.
Drink up and be merry!
My wife and I just moved back from NorCal where the neighborhood brew pub is king. I've experienced a few brew pubs since we've been back, nothing to write home about.. that is until this one. First of all, I've been a manager @ a brewpub for the last 5 years. I was blown away by the level of service we received from Bill. The beer was great, we were asked if we'd like another round long before we had to strain our necks, etc, etc. The food was great. Beers were the best I've tasted since leaving NorCal. The service was top notch. We'll be back for sure.
Review Source:Had a brilliant lunch at this fantastic "out-of-the-way" brew-pub. Beautiful outdoor terrace that was elegantly decorated. Spectacular service from Ashley. The catfish beer bits were excellent (get the chipotle aioli) and we were surprised to find the sandwiches had that extra step that makes you remember a menu item in a certain restaurant. Delicious pepper jelly on an exceptional Cubano and cranberry relish on the roast turkey sandwich! As a beer aficionado, I'm sad that my transportation situation only allowed me one drink at lunch but the Scuba's Hot Saaz (habañero infused blonde ale) was the Perfect compliment to lunch... And an outstanding find for a beer-lover who also loves peppers! Keep up the good work, gang!
(this is also an exceptional venue for events.... Northampton Event Co-Ordinators Take Note!)
3.5
really nice inside with the upstairs overlooking the bar.
the food here is pretty good. Â Beer selection is ok. The brews from Northampton are ok, on the lighter side.
The service could use some help. On this particular Saturday, it was not that busy but yet our waitress took forever to come around to ask if we wanted another beer. At that point, I didn't even want another. Â Though she did walk by our tables like a 100 times.
I would come here again as the food was really good but hope for better service next time.
This is one of the few places where I will always find myself returning to with a group a friends. I encourage everyone to enjoy your meals/drinks on the upper deck, with a friendly staff and ample selection of locally brewed beer (only $4.5 per draft!)
I've only eaten once or twice, but the food was surprisingly delicious and surpassed my expectations for bar-foods. Overall, there is nothing really spectacular about this establishment, but the fact that I've almost exclusively come to this place (for reasons that I've yet to comprehend), it deserves at least 4 stars!
Stopped for a quick lunch on our way home from a weekend in Vermont. We did not know the area, but the inviting exterior of the restaurant drew us in. The meal, beer, service and environment were all top-knotch. It was very affordable, roughly 20$ per person. Enjoy!
I would suggest everything I ordered:
Appetizer: Southwestern Quesadilla
Entre: Cuban Panini
Beer: Deckbier
One of my favorite pubs to stop by every time I visit my friend in MA. Â First it's in Northampton, which is a nice neighborhood for shopping, walking around, people watching, etc. Â Second, they have a great upstairs patio where you can enjoy your beer and (if nature cooperates) the beautiful weather at the same time. Â The beer is what you come here for and they do not disappoint, with an outstanding selection of year round, seasonal and specialty brews. Â So many you may need to order a couple of flights to sample every option they serve. Â Don't forget an order of the Ultimate Brewhouse Nachos. Â Not only do they pair nicely with the beers but they are great for sharing and the portion is humongous.
Review Source:This is your typical brewery - except that they don't give you a lot of food, the wait staff isn't extremely friendly and the food wasn't anything to ride home about. Â If you're looking for a LOT of beers, this isn't the place to go - Try Amherst brewing company, about twenty minutes away and very worth the drive. Â Better food, better beer, better service.
Review Source:I've been here several times now, and overall, I think it's a decent brew pub, maybe a little too full of itself, and a little more welcoming to some populations than others. I think the main negative with NB is the lack of consistency in the kitchen, which is why I decided to give it two stars instead of three. Â I don't expect gourmet food at a brew pub, but I do expect to know which dishes are good and which are bad. Â At NB, that is almost impossible because the same dish is never the same twice.
My first time here, the wings were great. Â A few months later, they were terrible--absolutely drowning in grease and wing sauce. Â While the wedge salad is usually pretty good, the grilled chicken breast that you can add for a couple of bucks tastes like shoe leather. Â Also, there have been times when I've ordered the wedge salad and gotten brownish lettuce, and a green egg yoke. Â The avocado and grilled shrimp caesar salad was delicious the first time I ordered it, but when I tried it again, the avocado was brown around the edges, and the shrimp tasted like it had been prepared in the drier--it actually began to crumble between my fingers when I tried to peel it. Â The catfish bites are always good. Â I've also heard that the sweet potato fries are good, and they do make a decent burger. Â
The beer is generally pretty good. Â I like IPAs and have been happy with their Blue Boots, Alpha Project, and Mean Green. Â The Conundrum, Graduation Ale, and Black Cat Stout are also pretty good. Â They also have had good guest beers like Green Flash IPA.
The upstairs patio is the best place to sit. Â If you go on a crowded night, the acoustics in the sun room make it extremely noisy.
The service is in the middle--the waitresses tend to be pretty good, but they are not overly friendly or thoughtful. Â On the other hand, they are mostly college kids and townies--no professional servers, so for what it is, the service is not bad. Â But if you go when it's crowded (I don't--I learned my lesson the first time), expect bad and slow service.
My suggestion would be to come here on an afternoon or early evening with a friend or significant other for a beer or two and some catfish bites :-)
I had a great experience here!
Northampton Brewery has a big, beautiful covered deck that acts as an outdoor seating area. Â It was really the perfect place to hang out on a Spring day.
I really enjoyed the Graduation beer. Â It's a light, fruity, and summery Belgian style. Actually, it was probably one of my favorite beers that I sampled all weekend (and I sampled a LOT!)
They were all out of Black Mamba the first time we went, but when we returned 2 days later, they had restocked. Â I didn't care for the red (Clifford). Â It just didn't seem like a traditional red to me. Conundrum was okay and Hoppy Birthday isn't really my thing, but the boyfriend liked it.
For a place that has such a long list of beers on their website, the selection of their own brews was rather small, especially since they were all out of 2 beers when we first visited. Â They did have some other good local New England beers on tap, including Steel Rail and something from Element.
Service was fine. Â They did a good job, considering how packed the place was for lunch. Â We just had a Mediterranean Platter with olives, cheese, pita, sausage, and veggies. Â It sounded a lot more impressive than it actually was, but it was fine to snack on while we sampled some beer. Â The platters coming out of the kitchen looked huge and we saw some sandwiches and other dishes that looked and smelled great.
Oh, and I had to get a t-shirt! Peace, Love, and Beer! (see pic)
The catfish bites, NE clam chowder, fish and chips, were all awesome, but the risotto balls, jambalaya, and extremely forgettable chicken dish were all twice as awful as that other stuff was delicious. Such is the story of almost any brewery, though ordering desirable food here isn't always as easy as just sticking to the traditional pub grub like you'd expect.
The bathrooms, glassware and dishes were all a little scary. I definitely smelled cooler funk in what should have been a delicious beer. Throwing caution to the wind I drank it anyways. I'm definitely paying for it today. Which brings me to my final evaluation:
This is basically just a bar where godless hippies can bring their children without getting harassed for being bad parents.
ok, I'm on a roll now kids, so watch out.
My experience at Northampton Brewery is not fresh in my mind, which is probably for the best,
We grabbed beers (which were fine-ish) and waited for a table.
I was in a meat mood, and was possessed to order a steak.
I remember ordering a steak once in a Sizzler as a child. Perhaps I had earned an A on a test or hit a home run in Little League (I didn't), and I felt like I deserved something "grown-up." This was just like that; a rubbery slab of gristle with no flavor or personality. I probably deserved it for ordering a steak at a burger place.
Average small-town fare. Pretty disappointing for a "brewery."
It never occurred to me to get anything more ambitious than a burger or a salad and now that I've read the reviews I won't. Even the steak on the steak salad was a choice I regretted.
Beers are tasty but not exceptional.
And every single space in the restaurant (and there are a lot of them - I count 4) is loud as can be, when the place gets busy, which it does during predictable hours. The outside is nicest. The staff is average for Northampton which means friendly, but not entirely reliable.
Proceed with caution and for the love of mike, don't wait for a table. Unless, say, your Dad is dead-set on going here.
I get it....they are the only game in town for a brewery, but I have been to this establishment more than a dozen times, and have had better hospitality in a self service line at Stop n Shop....
Train your servers to love their job, appreciate all guests, and understand the menu....the kitchen seems to do their job well, get it right with the service.
This place is NOT worth the wait.
Drinks are good here. The atmosphere is fun too. Service is generally great. The food's not bad either.
I ordered the Cuban sandwich, unsure if I would even like it. Well it was delicious! I nearly ate the whole thing, soooo warm, melty, and good! I highly recommend it. They have lots of choices of sides too, including spicy fries and salad.
My only complaint is the tortilla chips served to us were OLD and STALE. Oh and the bathroom is very small/dirty. If it's in the evening, expect a long, uncomfortable wait!
A year ago I came here with friends - not my first visit - and we were sent off with some vague instructions to an outdoor seating area in the freezing cold, loaded with college students. Because you should always seat a party of 4 grown-ups with drunken idiots, right? Service was terrible, the food indifferent. The company - my friends - saved the day. A fluke, right? I mean, since my previous visits here had been positive, this must have been an off evening? Think again.
Fast forward 12 months, give or take, to this evening. As we wait to be seated I notice some conversation between the waitstaff and the person who seats us.... I think now I know what the conversation was. "Can we put ANYONE in that room with THOSE people??" The answer was apparently yes, I guess, and we found ourselves seated in the main dining room with a party of maybe 20 - I couldn't count them as my back was to them. They'd been drinking for a while it seemed. Long enough, anyway, to sample the local brews sufficiently to lower their inhibitions while raising their voices to a level that really can't be described.
Maybe we should have complained earlier. But the venus holds some responsibility here. These people were not merely loud. They were out of control, screaming, yelling obnoxious. No one made a move to control their behavior. Our food was delayed, presumably because the kitchen was busy meeting the demands of this drunken group of selfish, rude individuals. The waitress apologized for the noise and for the delay but never offered to move us (According to the manager there was "no place else to put us"), and no one ever warned us of what we were about to endure - and endure may be an understatement. Suffer is better. No joke. I spent 3 hours at a concert this past weekend at the Comcast Center in Hartford that was less painful to my ears than the noise these people were making.
When I finally asked for a manager she said how sorry she was. Right. I am sure. Since it took the waitress a good five minutes to even LOCATE her because, as the waitress said "She's just disappeared or something..." I have to doubt the sincerity of her apology. The manager also said that the other party was "...excited and celebrating". Well, so was my party. Apparently *our* desire to be excited and celebrate appropriately, without disturbing he diners around us just wasn't as important to the brewery staff and management as the desire of the group behind us to celebrate their event.
We were treated badly by management. Very badly. And that I can never let go. Yes, your other patrons are obnoxious - and you ADMITTED it to us. Well, we weren't obnoxious. We were trying to have a meal - not a quiet meal, but at least a meal we could consume without the need for ear plugs. And our meal was ruined, our experience destroyed, by a party this manager was playing victim to.
The excuses out of her mouth disgusted me less as a consumer and more as a woman. They were "having a good time". They were "celebrating". She had "no control over them". WHAT? Excuse me? In a public place, in a restaurant, YOU as the MANAGER ON DUTY have no control over your patrons? No right to say that when a group is out of control they need to leave? Think again, sweetie. You have an obligation to EVERY patron to strive to make their experience a positive one. When you allow one party to dictate the tone of the evening and to ride roughshod over the rest of your patrons? You've not only lost my business. You've lost your own self respect as an individual, and the respect of the business you;re working for.
How was the food? Honestly, it wasn't that good. And certainly not for the price, even with comped drinks and a free ap after my tantrum about the noise. The sauce on my salmon was overpowering and too intense; no natural flavor coming through, it was all about the intensity, more like some awful chain. Balsamic dressing was also overpowering - who do you think you're feeding here? Apparently people with diminishing taste bud capacity.
If you are under 25 years old - no wait. That's no true either as two members of my party were 23, and they could not wait to get the hell OUT of the place. Hmm. Â If you're just a group of selfish, entitled jerks looking for a place to get totally wasted, scream, yell, make a spectacle of yourselves at the expense of other diners, this is TOTALLY the place for you. No one will stand in your way, you can ruin everyone else's dinner, have at it, the place is yours - literally - since the manager apparently has no power to make you play nice with others!
But if you are looking for a nice - not perfect mind you, but nice - dinner to celebrate a milestone in your life? GO ANYWHERE BUT HERE!!
Everything here is mediocre. Â Went to NB looking for a cheaper Dirty Truth and yes, I spent less money, but that was pretty much the only upside. Â
I sat on the patio, which was truly enjoyable, but the service was slow, the food was cold, and the beers were warm. Â I definitely thought my food was supposed to be hot and my beers cool, but maybe I'm a little out of touch. Â In the case I'm not out of touch, every beer I tried was awful. Â And by every, I mean all 6 (I ordered 3 and my 'date' ordered 3). Â 6 beers covered the stout, the IPA, the pisner, etc. Â Now I know why Northampton Brewery doesn't sell their beers anywhere and People's Pint does! Â Okay, I must be out of touch if I kept giving these damn beers a chance.
In terms of the food, the fish and chips were tasty, but the portion small for the price. Â I had the ravioli, which were cold and looked like they were bought at Whole Foods. Â I knew they wouldn't have handmade pasta dishes at a 'grille' but I feel like the ravioli could have been served warm and in a manner that was not so obviously store-bought.
Seems like it could be a cool hang-out if you wanna crush on one of the bar tenders downstairs with rad hair dye jobs or just sit in some comfy chairs, but I don't need to spend money on either of those luxuries, so I'm staying away.
My partner & I don't typically frequent breweries or many eateries with the words "Bar" & "Grille" in the title, or in this case, on the sign of the place. There's just something a little too Applebeesian about it. Honestly, if we hadn't had a gift card, we probably would never have gone to Northampton Brewery, but I'm really glad we did.
We were greeted at the door by Jen who was also our server. She was incredible! Super energetic, positive, & attentive without being overbearing. Jen was able to make recommendations about the beer, apps, & entrees. If anyone in management is reading this, please give this woman a raise or at least a day off & a foot massage!
The beer & the food were quite good. My partner & I don't like bitter beers, so we went with the Byzantine Blonde which was really tasty. Definitely something I would order again. The spinach-artichoke dip at Northampton Brewery turned out to be several notches above the typical bland paste-like mixture that most Bar/Grille establishments serve. It had a wonderful smokey taste followed by a surprising spicy kick at the end. The turkey burger was decent...a little overcooked & there was a little too much bun going on, but overall, very flavorful with added cheddar cheese & sauteed onions. We also ordered the ravioli with pesto & shaved Parmesan which was also quite good.
The only drawback to our evening at the Northampton Brewery was the decor. We decided to sit in the "garden" area, a room filled with curtainless windows which afforded the most amazing view of the parking garage next door. We did see some frolicking squirrels outside our window, but not much else was garden-like. At all. In any way. But, since we went there primarily for the food & not the ambiance, it's not a huge deal. Besides, when you have enough Byzantine Blondes, you don't even notice the hulking concrete structure right outside your garden room window.
Really delicious beer, an inside like a greenhouse (though they probably need more bright pictures on the walls to fill the space), a cool "beer garden"/rooftop deck, good food, and friendly service make Northampton Brewery pretty awesome. I especially loved the Byzantine Blonde, a lighter ale with a bit of hops (apparently, The NB is known for its hops in every beer). I also loved our app of spinach-artichoke dip, which had a real kick but was also kind of smokey (really great as a lunch time option perhaps with a salad). The turkey burger was good, done a little too well for my taste, but if you like sauteed onions, try it with those; they're sweet to perfection with the turkey burger. Also tried the vegan option ravioli with Parmesan and pesto and fresh basil. It as light -- despite being pasta, and really beautiful (the striped kind of pasta with spinach ravioli, too).
This is a fun place, perfect for a night out on the town, a date, or to grab a beer (in their bar).
A perfect brewery-restaurant.
Ever since Gordon Biersch opened his original brewery-restaurant hybrid in Palo Alto, CA in the 1980's, they've spread like wildfire throughout the country. And almost every single time, the results have been...dreadful. Either crappy beer or crappy food and many times both, the brewery-restaurant has suffered many failings now we have the junky Gordon Biersch and BJ's chains, among many others. Pulling off a place that is true to both and is successful at both is extremely difficult and rare. But Northhampton has done it!
First of all, it's beautiful to look at. You come in a small front door and suddenly you're in a huge room with 3-story high ceilings and a semi-circular, wide open bar. Behind the bar's glass wall are the brewing tanks in all their copper glory. Â Northamption has it all though. Not just a great bar, but a back patio and roof-top deck patio. The rooftop deck is prepared for all types of weather, be it rain, snow, or sunshine. There's a stage and live music up there as well. The versatility kicks ass.
Next, the food was excellent pub fare. The nachos were actually believable. Great toppings, not soggy, spicy, sizeable. Everything you'd want from pub food.
And lastly, the beer itself was actually good! The "I will be this at the supermarket in bottles and drink it at home by myself" kind of good. A wide array of types, experimental ales, and everything done fairly well. Of course they aren't batting 100% in beer quality, but more of them turned out well than not.
Likely one of the New England's best breweries.
Went on a first date last night and she took me here because she thought I liked beer, how sweet of her. Anyway, as you know...I drink beer but I don't seek it out like some sort of connoisseur. I do enjoy the feel of a brewery though.
This place was top-notch. Clean, pleasing to the eye, good set up. The waitresses were efficient. I would have liked to have seen it busier, but it was late on a Wednesday night with rain coming down so it is understandable.
I got their Roasted Pepper Pesto Alfredo w/ chicken. It was delicious. I also got their Steamer ale, which was some sort of light seasonal. It was ok.
Top notch place, will be back no doubt if things work out with this lady friend.
Went last night with 2 other couples. We wanted to sit outside on the deck, but that was a 30 minute wait. Ok- don't want to wait that long so we were told to head back downstairs to the other hostess to be seated.
We stood by the hostess station for another 10 minutes before the bartender acknowledge us and went to set up a table. Just then, a waitress perked up and came over but the bartender was already doing her job.
We were led to our table- one of 3 or 4 others. The place was by no means busy.
We sat perhaps another 10-15 minutes without so much as a hello- and decided to head up to the Dirty Truth for a couple of beers and some food. So- the Dirty Truth (where I have NEVER had bad service or a bad time) got our $150 instead of the Northampton brewery.
This was the third time in a year that I have had pretty much the same experience here. So, since there are anther hundred or so restaurants in Northampton- THEY will be getting our business.
I can't attest to the meal quality here unfortunately, as 2 out of the last 3 times here I didn't make it to the meal.
So I came here with my family for graduation lunch ... and they would not let me have beer. Yep, I forgot my ID and the fine, upstanding citizens at Northampton Brewery would not let me have beer. But I had a (few) small sip and the beer is pretty decent. Â
Anyway, the food was not fantastic. My sister got some sort of salad with a giant piece of fried something under it, I think it was the blackened chicken, perhaps? It was NOT good. Also avoid the soups. Ours was lukewarm and tasted like it was from a can.
From what I understand the Brewery is best on a nice summer night, not in the middle of a storm in the afternoon. Also, there was a rumor going around a couple years ago that if you worked at the Brewery for a day you'd get a free case at the end of it. Um, not true.
