I have to say.. the food is amazing!! However, I went with my husband & we both felt that some of the female employees were "under dressed". I do understand its hot out BUT there should be some guidelines to follow. We are not at the beach.. are we ? We are in our 30's and by far not prudes but when we go out to a wine bar with high reviews, we expected more of an upscale presence.
Review Source:I am a fan of this place! I've been here about 4 times now. I recommend ordering from the Prix Fix menu it's only $20, Sunday-Thursday, which is solid!
I recommend the PAPPARDELLE, MAINE LOBSTER!
The service is good, the food is good, the price is good, the atmosphere is nice, annnnd when ever I've gone here there are always hot girls there!! What more could you ask for? This is also a good place to hangout at on the weekend apparently. I've only gone during the week so I will have to come back on the weekend.
Go check Novita out!
We had about 50 guests at our engagement party in Novita's downstairs private party room on a Saturday night. Â It was a wonderful night, with good food and an upscale atmosphere. Â Novita offered several buffet options at different price points, plus an additional $16pp for the drinks package we chose (unlimited beer, wine, soda, coffee & tea for 3 hours). Â
We wanted to continue drinking at the bar upstairs when the party was over, but the restaurant was very crowded, so we went over to the bar next door at Waterzooi (same owners). Â Novita seemed lovely though, and I'd like to go back for dinner another night.
I really enjoy novita. The calamari is some of the best I've ever had and the entrees are all delicious and huge. I've always had good service here too.
Happy hour is pretty fun with good selection. The free pasta during is my favorite. The crowd can get obnoxious as the night goes on and the music is awkwardly loud.
We took my boyfriend's father here this past Friday night for his birthday dinner. First of all, it's too damn loud. I don't care if there is a DJ in the house, some people are still trying to enjoy their dinners and carry a conversation at 8:30pm. Second of all it's too dark, but I already knew this. If you can't even read the menu, what am I supposed to get? Aside from that, the food was delicious. We had a plate of Fra Diavlo mussels and lobster sliders to start. The Fra Diavlo mussels were great, and dare I say it, better than Waterzooi's (we tried the Fra Diavlo earlier that week for Mussel Madness). The Lobster Sliders are always amazing. My boyfriend's father ordered the Skirt Steak for entree while the rest of the family split the Proscuitto White Pie, Truffle Mushroom, and Meatball pizzas. The white pie is still my favorite and always will be. You have to really love truffles if you get the Truffle Mushroom!, The meatball pizza was also very good.
If based solely on the food, I highly recommend it. The atmosphere on a Friday evening is just not for me though. I want to wind down on a Friday, not party it up!
I give it a four for the atmosphere because it was not as homey as a good italian place should be.
With the being said the pasta was perfect. I had the lobster papperdelle and my fiance had the sausage cavatelli. Both were divine in their own regards.
As always we started with the Fried Calamari and It was extremely delicious. They didn't not skimp on the flavor here for the breading.
I don't remember what I liked about the dessert menu, but I remember that we really wanted to try it but were to full. So we have made it pact to come back just for desserts. Great place, one of my favs, in GC
I come here often to grab drinks with friends and hangout. It's been a while since I have eaten here so I went for an early dinner. The food was very good. My only problem was the service. We sat outside and our waitress took a very long time to take our order or to come back and check on us which was frustrating.
Review Source:The problem with going out anywhere in Nassau County after 9 p.m. is that all the women from ages 25-55 suddenly think that they're fashion models, and all the men think they're tough guys. Don't believe me? Go to Novitá in Garden City and see this shameful showing of spray-tan bravado play out right in front of you.
I remember when this was the Victory Oyster Bar. Why couldn't they just have left it at that? Now, the cheesy music is too loud, the menu makes pathetic attempts to be trendy and the staff acts like they have the only wine-tap system in the country. The whole production is just so...Long Island. No, it does not feel like New York City. No, the food is not "traditional-exotic Italian." And no, I will not be coming back.
NOTE: This Novitá has nothing to do with a Manhattan restaurant of the same name.
Overall great experience--food was great as well as the ambiance--casual chic & cozy. This restaurant is great for a date night as well as dinner with your friends as the bar area is great to sit back and enjoy good company with endless wine. The food portions were great with a vast wine selection. Servers allowed sufficient time to take in wine selection, offered their input on meal selections, and allow you sufficient time in between courses. Will be back soon!
Review Source:Food and ambiance was very nice! Most people in my group ate seafood pasta dishes. They were tasty and perfectly seasoned. The pasta dish with lobster was excellent and is worth ordering. The claim to fame of this restaurant is the wine. They know how to make the perfect pairings! A major negative is the noise! Very hard to have a conversation at the table! Another negative is the feeling of being rushed out. We were a party of 6 and had many courses, by the time we got our dessert, they really tried to get us to leave. We could actually hear them complain! I would go back, but not on a Saturday!
Review Source:Wonderful lobster paparadelle dish... still dreaming about it. Â The calamari starter was truly stellar. Â Surprised by a really nice Caesar salad as well. Â Was nice there was a prix fixe deal on a Thursday. Â So why minus two stars when the food is definitely worthy? Â THE SOUND LEVEL! Â My gawd - the absolutely blaring music will drive you completely bonkers! Â I had to read lips during our whole girl's night out! Â I get that it was 'ladies night' and the bar was hopping... But come on?! Â The dance mix of 'Call Me, Maybe?' had me wanting to go all VanGogh! Â Absolutely amazing food, but bring earplugs.
Review Source:Novita is one of my favorite restaurants! Â I'm a regular here and all my girlfriends and I love having our girls nights out here. Â There's a fabulous daily price-fixe menu, DJ on Thursday nights (possibly Saturday nights too if I remember correctly) and great drink specials. Â
Being in the village of Garden City, there's a very professional, upscale clientele and the decor has a bit of an NYC, swanky feel to it. Â It's not too loud, as it does attract a maturer crowd of 30's+ but it can get busy on a late Friday/Saturday night. Â
It has booths and tables in the dining area, but also high-tables in an area where you can either just have drinks and hang out or take advantage of dining and the wait staff there as well. Â There's also a quaint little outdoor seating area in the back toward the parking lot, but intimately gated by shrubbery and/or plastic windows in the winter which is nice too.
I always find the Sangria to have a very strong hint of 7UP or something to it, so I usually ask them to add more wine and they're always happy to do so. The staff is very friendly and super accommodating. Â My favorite dish is the chicken Milanese salad with grilled chicken instead of fried. To top it off, the zeppole dessert is so delicious! I always, embarrassingly, clean my plate here!
Nice wine bar/restaurant in the Garden City area. Â Lounge-y feel. Â
Portions are HUGE. Â Almost too huge. Â And this is reflected in the prices. Â I wish they would half the portions and half the price as well. Â It's just too much for anyone. Â
I tried a few sips of their house-infused vodka (blood orange) as well as their Grape Smash drink. Â They were very weak. Â Third one was strong, but only when it was asked of the bartender.
My boyfriend and I split the fried calamari as an appetizer. Â It was good, but I was already full as we approached the last few pieces.
We split the veal parm as our entree. Â We opted for a side of penne pasta instead of spinach, thinking it wouldn't be enough food for both of us. Â However, it was more than enough.
We ended with the cannolis and the nutella creme brulee (what could be bad about that?)
Decent place, definitely better than I expected but they need a few changes before they reach 5 stars.
Went here for a Girls Night Out and could not get a reservation for the time we wanted. Â So we took an earlier one and I waited for the girls to arrive. Â At the time we wanted, we noticed many empty tables and were like what is up with that? Â
I had a french martini, which had too much pineapple in it - if you do it right, it should taste and smell like marshmallows - this was more like a cosmo. Â Weird. Â
The food was good. Â I had the mushroom pizza that had some form of cheese and truffle in it - they had me at truffle, that's all I know. Â For desert, I had the pumpkin cognac cheesecake, which was super orgasmic. Â My eyes rolled in the back of my head, so that's a good sign. Â The cappuccino was not good though.
I come here maybe once a year; I like the ambiance and the service is good. Â I'd go back.
I like this spot, however, I can't justify giving more than 3 stars. I wasn't blown away by anything. Service was good, pricing was fair. Had the baked clams to start and the arugula salad as my main course. Baked clams were OK, but again, nothing special- I've had much better in my day. The arugula salad was refreshing, but far from hearty (very leafy, and hardly loaded with the other listed ingredients: goat cheese, poached pears, caramelized walnuts, etc). I also tried my friends Chicken Marsala salad, which was also, just OK. Perhaps we didn't order the right things. I will go back here for ladies night, and then i'll definitely order their pizzas which looked tasty. (Although the table that ordered it next to us hardly touched it...hmm...)
Review Source:My first date with my now-wife was here, and it's such a great place that we had dinner here the night we got engaged, and then we had our rehearsal dinner here. Â A classy place with a classy menu for classy people. Â
The main draw is the wine bar. Â I always get the white-bordeaux because in addition to it being something of a novelty, it's incredibly tasty. Â I've also gotten their gewurtztraminer, another favorite of mine and they have a few different selections. Â The wine selection is massive, one of the best on Long Island, if not the best and most comprehensive. Â Honestly, if you can't find a wine here, then just get out of the way and let a non-asshole sit down. Â
The food is always spectacular. Â For appetizers, I am a big fan of the polenta-crusted calimari, a nice little twist on a classic. Â It's not heavy (unlike most fried calimari), and it comes with two delicious dipping sauces. Â Delish! I'd also recommend the prosciutto wrapped asparagus spears with roasted pears, the meatball sliders (these flew off the tray at the rehearsal dinner, people were almost fighting over them!) and the beefsteak tomato and mozzarella appetizer. Â Nothing too fancy or unique about the latter, just a delicious classic that they do right. Â The asparagus tips is a grand slam for a starter.
When it comes to the entrees, I almost always get one of the specials, just because they always have excellent ones. Â These have ranged from blackened redfish, to bacon-wrapped monkfish, to various steak specials. Â I've tried most of the pasta dishes and they are all tasty, although none of them are as memorable as the fish specials. Â
If you're not feeling like a big meal, then nothing beats having a glass of wine and the meat and cheese plates while sitting outside. Â
It can get a little loud in the later hours at night on the weekends, but if you're the kind of person who doesn't like that sort of atmosphere, you shouldn't be out past 8 pm anyway. Â The early bird special is long over by then folks. Â
But enough of me gushing over the place. Â Let's criticize some of the nitwits with their false disdain. Â As a disclaimer, if you simply don't like place because you didn't like the food, then you will be spared; although let it be known that you have officially claimed your spot among the ranks of those whose opinion is irrelevant.
I've seen reviews on this site saying that the staff isn't knowledgeable about the wine menu. Â OK, nothing could be further from the truth. Â Having managed a bar that had a drink menu nowhere near as intricate as Novita's, I can easily say that I'm impressed every time I ask a server about the wine list. Â Without fail, they have answered me sufficiently every single time and they demonstrate an actual knowledge of each wine. Â They will even let you taste a few different ones until you find the right one. Â The problem with people making this criticism is that they ask stupid questions - "Can you recommend to me a wine I will like" is often what they say. Â When the server says "well, what kind of wine do you like?" and you respond with "oh, anything good!" then it's over. Â You are a stupid person incapable of describing what you want so you'll always be disappointed. Â Criticism invalidated. Â
I saw another reviewer claiming they couldn't get the bartender's attention. Â There is only one reason for this - you're a cheap tipper. Â It's really that simple. Â Throw down more than 25 cents, and the bartender becomes your new best friend. Â Alternatively, in the rare instance that the bartender simply doesn't notice you, you can, you know, simply walk up to them and say 'excuse me.' Â That tends to work 100% of the time. Â So don't blame the bartenders for your failure in life. Â
I can't recommend this place enough. Â It's a great place for a date, a great place for a nice dinner between couples, and it's a great place to go after work for a bit more upscale experience.
For my dad's 56th birthday, which also happens to be his aunt's birthday, we came here for dinner. Probably not the best place to take my dad's aunt, who is in her 80's. That is simply because of the music, which is pretty loud, even for me, and i'm only 25. It bothered her hearing aid, and she couldn't hear anything we were saying the entire meal, unless we yelled across the table at her. The place seems to attract a young crowd, people in their early 20's and maybe some in their early 30's. Not really a place to go with the entire family. The service was also very slow, which surprised me considering how busy they were.
Aside from the noise, I didn't think the food was all that great. I had penne with vodka sauce, and it was average. I've had better. The fixed price dinner option was good, though, not very expensive. I will say, though, the drinks were the best part of the meal. I had a blueberry martini and my sister had a limoncello martini. I think this place would be good to go to for the drinks, and just skip the food altogether.
Food was GREAT!
unfortunately, I'm on the other side of 35 and my gf is even CLOSER to 40 than I am. When we go out to eat, we like music but unless it's an actual club or place with a dance floor I don't expect to have music blaring while eating.
Trendy probably best describes this place to me.
It was nicely decorated but POORLY furnished. The chairs reminded me of high school cafeterias and are very hard and uncomfortable. Luckily, we were able to get a booth. I'd go closer to the daytime to avoid the "club" on the other side.
...The wine list was alright. The staff was somewhat knowledgeable of finer wines, so that was a plus. I'd give it another shot, but  NOT later in the evening.
Really like this place, and have been here quite a bit recently. Â I can't comment on the bar scene, and honestly can't tell whether it's an actual bar scene, or more people hanging out at the bar while waiting for their table. Â Guess I'll have to swing by some time to check it out.
For an appetizer we ordered some meats and cheeses. Â The chorizo was very good, as was the manchengo. Â I had a glass of sangria, which was huge and had almost the taste of a hint of cinnamon to it. Â My mom and sister each had a glass of the sweet riesling, which was great (and I'm not a usually a wine fan - sangria and ice wine excluded).
I'm gluten free, so I always order the sweet lobster pasta, which is delicious. Â My sister and mom have both had it (non-gluten free version) and were fans as well. Â Note, this dish is rich and super filing. Â The gluten free version comes with penne, and I would suggest to ask for penne for the non-gluten free version as well, as the pasta that comes with the non-gluten free order is difficult to eat with the lobster sauce. Â One great thing about this place, is unlike many places with a gluten free menu, they don't charge extra for gluten free pasta. Â My dad ordered a scallop dish which was one of the specials (also gluten free) and enjoyed it. Â
For dessert I had the nutella creme brulee. Â I had ordered this once before and literally could not stop thinking about it (I'll admit, I love food so I tend think about it a little more than the average bear). Â It is so good. Â I mean, how can you go wrong with nutella? Â Answer - you can't. Â Best part (for me at least), it's gluten free! Â Also ordered a latte, which I think ended up being a cappuccino, but either way it was good.
Service is great. Â We always tend to have the same waitress who is so nice, super attentive and very knowledgeable about gluten free.
The decor does skew trendy, although a bit "trying to hard trendy". Â Almost reminds me of a restaurant that would be in a casino or trendy hotel. Â The crowd is mixed, and it's a great spot to have din with the fam, go on a date or have a meal out with the ladies. Â It does tend to get a bit loud, but after a few minutes it is possible to tune out the noise. Â Prices are fair and you definitely get a lot of eats for your dollar.
Good fare and a fairly trendy place. Â The service was good even though towards the end he was pushing us to go because he has a kid and needed to go home.. really?
The fried calamari and artichoke appetizer was delicious, the pastas were good- we split the fra diavlo pasta and it was more then enough for both of us considering we shared an appetizer. They also have a nice selection of wines. Â
Good place for a date night
I almost gave Novita Trattoria & Wine Bar three stars, but upon further reflection I've decided that it's simply not worthy. Â
I was really excited about Novita because of their wonderful happy hour specials and became elated as I saw the outdoor seating area, which is perfect for a warm summer evening. Â However, please note that if you are a party of more than two, you will be crammed at a table that is sandwiched between two doors -- it's very uncomfortable. Â The hostess was very rude when we expressed dissatisfaction, and even ruder when we asked about the happy hour specials. Â "BAR ONLY," she retorted as she snatched our menus up. Â Okay, then.
As we headed to the bar, we were really impressed with the whole layout of of the restaurant -- it's very large and separated in a way that gives its patrons privacy from others. Â The bar is very long and it's easy to see how Novita has the capability to really accommodate many people. Â I can imagine that this is a very popular place for those who work in the area. Â During happy hour, beer and wine are $5 -- a deal that you really can't complain about. Â I ordered a Malbec, which was really quite impressive for only $5 a glass, and came in a mini-carafe that equaled out to a very generous pour.
It was strange, though, that we had to flag down the bartender even though we were basically the only people at the bar. Â When we finally got her attention and ordered our drinks, we found it even more odd that she didn't ask whether we wanted to see a menu especially since all of the appetizers are half-off during happy hour. Â Maybe she was trying to do us a favor because the food was truly less than impressive. Â We ordered the Spinach and Artichoke Dip, which was more salty than anything else. Â We also ordered the Bruschetta, which was very strange especially since it had white beans in it. Â I can usually appreciate a new spin on a traditional dish, but this just wasn't working for me.
I would definitely consider coming back for drinks, but would expect the service to be very shoddy and poor and would never order another bite of food here again.
I came here for drinks after work one day and thought this place was just ok.
They have good happy hour specials (1/2 priced appetizers and drink specials). Â The bar is really long and I love how all the wines are on display with these dispensers that keep the bottles air tight. Â The tables in the middle have really high walls surrounding them offering privacy for a large group who want to sit at a round tables.
If you work in the area, it is definitely worth a trip. Â Seems like mostly business people who work in Garden City/Mineola/Hempstead area who come here. Â I'd recommend coming this place to my co-workers if we were looking for a spot. Â It is only 2 blocks from the LIRR so if you are a public transportation commuter you are in luck. Â If you drive, well be careful, it is Nassau County and the police pulls everyone over for the slightest moving or non-moving violation.
Stopped in for dessert after a business lunch. Â Novita is a really classy looking place with cool decor and and upscale atmosphere. Â It was a quiet hour, around 3pm on a Monday so there was practically no one there - but from what I hear, the place get's pretty hoppin' at night. Â I took a gander at the food menu and would love to come back to try it!
My dessert was delicious. Â Caramel Banana Bread Pudding with bourbon caramel ginger snap gelato - $9
I also tasted some fresh homemade cinnamon Street Fair Zeppole w/ chocolate porto & raspberry coulis
High class joint - go check it out!
If Novita lives up to my expectations, they may just get a revised review up to 5 stars one day!
I love Novita!! Â My husband and I go there a lot for a glass of wine and appetizers. The wine list can be over whelming but the staff is very knowledgeable. Sometimes we go for the happy hour on Fridays from 5 until 7 where they have $5 drinks and half price appetizers. They also have a small buffet which is usually 2 kinds of pasta and a pizza. The pizza is usually cold if you don't get it right away. Stick with the pasta. Â
Our favorite appetizers are the meatball sliders, Arancini, and the meat and cheese plates which you can mix and match. The Truffle mushroom pizza is addicting! Â We had our wedding here in November of 2011. They have a party room downstairs and we had about 65 guests with a DJ. All of our guests raved about the food and the service. It was a great time. I recommend having a party there if you are looking for something a little different. We had a cocktail party wedding. It was fabulous!!
I highly recommend Novita for a girls night out, a date or to have a small party. The atmosphere is great, fun and romantic.
I've been to Novita once...my overall experience their was nice- probably because of the atmosphere and desert I had.
I think the food at Novita is below average (I tried a couple pasta dishes and was not overly impressed).
On the bright side- The Tiramisu is probably some of the best I have ever had in the area. Novita is also open until pretty late which makes it pretty convenient if you are in the area.
I love this place. Â It's cozy, always a nice place to sit, and I've noticed that they try not to put quiet couples next to loud groups. Â I appreciate that.
The wine selection, as well as the assorted cheese and meats, are excellent and of the best quality.
Just one thing. Â I'm a celiac, and must eat gluten free or get sick. Â The menu says that the pasta dishes can be made with gluten free pasta. Â I have asked the wait staff whether the pasta sauces themselves can be made gluten free, and have gotten very different answers. Â This week, I ate there and got extremely ill. Â Granted, the menu does not advertise fully gluten free eating, but a little more education would go a long way here.
That said, I still love it here. Â I'll just have the wine, meats, and cheeses next time.
Went here for dinner over the Christmas break to see a long-time friend.
First noted, they have a really lively bar scene! On a Thursday night, the entire bar and high-top tables were full. This said a lot!
Secondly noted, they have an amazing wine selection, and from all over! Serving choices are either 6oz or by the bottle. I had 3 glasses, with the 2nd two being the same because I liked it so much.
Third, they have really nice servers and hostesses that don't give you an attitude and don't rush you. This was super great considering the time that catching up with an old friend takes.
Fourth, from the 1 appetizer dish that I did have (which was the asparagus with prosciutto), I'm a big fan of the food. And the waiter so nicely separated the appetizer into 2 dishes for us without us even asking.
Stellar!!
Definitely going to be back here, especially since they have 1/2 priced bottles on Sunday and Monday and $3 wines on Thursdays for the girls. :)
I don't normally find myself at non chain restaurants when I'm dining out on Long Island, but my sister-in-law picked this trendy spot to celebrate her birthday, so I was down.
The food was great. Loved the Polenta Crusted Calamari appetizer - definitely gave you plenty to share with a couple of people. The Tomato Bruschetta was only OK - seemed to be missing something. As for the mains: I had the Pappardelle with Sweet Lobster and I absolutely loved it. I scarfed that bad boy down like it was my first meal in weeks. So good. Seriously, there was not a single remain of my meal on my plate when I was done. The lobster to pappardelle ratio was amazing. They did not skimp on the lobster at all.
I also tried the Radiatore Bolognese and it was pretty darn tasty.
Personal pizzas are huge. Definitely enough for 4 people to share as an app.
Service was attentive. Beer selection was off the chains, even though Novita touts itself as a wine bar of sorts. That was a pleasant surprise for a beer snob. (Brooklyn Monster for $6??? Uh, don't mind if I do...have two.)
Very modern decor - certainly a perfect spot on Long Island for a date.
I still think this place is great. Dining on a weeknight we took advantage of their prefix menu. Â 3 courses for $19.95, which is a great deal.
Choice of cesar salad, soup or tomato and mozzarella salad for appetizers. Â The soup is a large bowl and they provided a bit of a different take on Italian Wedding soup. Â Even in off season, the tomatoes were flavorful and the mozzarella was fresh and delicious. Served with a drizzle of balsamic, I was quite happy.
Entrees include a choice of one of their pasta dishes.  The rigatoni ragu is delicious, the sauce is extremely flavorful.  Loaded with meatballs, sausage and braised pork  & veal, it reminded me of Sunday sauce at its best.  A dollop of basil ricotta rounded out the plate.  The rigatoni ala vodka was equally delicious.
Dessert was a Nutella Tiramasu...need I say more? Yum!
The wine list is full of choices that will please any palate.
A modern, energetic spot for some really decent food.
This review reflects both dining, and bar area experience.
The dining area was comfortable, service was attentive, and dinner (meatball sliders, mussels, firecracker shrimp salad) was good. Drinks we ordered from the dining area were great also (blueberry martini, pear martini, and antioxidant). Post dinner, we proceeded to the bar to have our last round of drinks.
THIS IS WHERE OUR EXPERIENCE WENT SOUR.
Our "waitress" was extremely rude, and returned to our table three times within 5 minutes; once to ask if we were ordering anything else, the second time to give us the check prematurely, and the third time to ask if we were done paying it. Mind you, none of us were being rude or belligerent, we were enjoying our evening since we just had a delicious dinner.
Now, I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt (she had to cash out before midnight, wasn't having a good night, blah blah blah), but after seeing her  there after 12..that was shot to hell.
I may sound bitter, but I'm a firm believer in employees representing the face of a business, which is why this is the longest review I've ever written.
I hope she takes her 40 cent tip and buys herself a personality.
BOTTOM LINE: Food was good, DJ was good, drinks in the dining area were great, but this girl ruined it for us.
A cute little wine bar on Long Island. They have a pretty extensive wine selection and some cute specialty cocktails. If I opt to have dinner here I usually prefer to sit in one of the comfy big booths. The bar area is very cute as well and draws a little crowd in the evening.
The food is pretty good as well. The mushroom pizza is so delish and rigatoni a la vodka is pretty yummy as well.
I've been to Novita quite a few times as it's one of the few wine bars in the area and has a fun, trendy ambiance.
When the weather is nice, the outdoor seating is great (though your view is of a parking lot - hello, Long Island), but the interior is really impressive - from the big booths to the trendy bar area. The wine list is pretty good - and I believe you can buy every option by the glass or bottle unlike a lot of restaurants.
They don't offer any Long Island vineyard wines, not that those taste particularly amazing - but you'd think they'd take advantage of the locality!
The food here is GREAT. To start, the complimentary bread is always amazing. I usually get a different kind of bread every time I eat here. My most favorite dish is the Prosciutto White Pie with sun-dried cherries... drool. It's a perfect size for 2 people, or to eat as a meal and save the leftovers for lunch the next day. I get it every time I eat here, so I unfortunately haven't tried anything else - but the people with me always thoroughly enjoy their food!
The prices are definitely a little higher than you'd expect - it may look like an NYC restaurant, but it's not NYC! But they also have awesome specials (ladies nights, 50% off bottles nights, Sunday dinners, tastings) that make it a great place to go for special occasions.
Lunch was going swimmingly well. Â Delicious soup. Â A nice meatball panini. Â And the good news that my boss was promoting me.
Then it emerged...
The largest, slowest cockroach I have seen in my life. Â It paced behind my boss's head. Â I didn't have the heart to tell him that the restaurant he raved about was also a motel for Garden City's pest elite.
I understand that critters are everywhere. Â However, in hundreds of dining experiences, this is only the second time I've encountered a roach. Â
Despite good service, sharp food and a pleasant atmosphere, I'm a little bugged out. Â Visit at your own risk.
Ughhhh. Noooottttt Noooovvittttaaaaaaaaaaa.
Usually my rapid response when it's brought up as a last minute option for the night.
*Ive been here a few times, and never ordered the wine (beer selection was better!)
*I've been here a few times, and never had a good time.
*I've been here a few times, and never wanted to stay long enough to have a meal.
*I've been here a few times, and wished my bed would roll through the door
This place tends to usually attract the "Poshilites" that are now nomads since their beloved club has shut down. Thank F*ing God. Not my kind of people or scene.
I usually get out of going to Novita when my friends do decide to go, but thank god lately it's being forgotten about. Â Just the name being brought up, I will not hesitate to kick someone in the shins under a table.
Sky*
