Now that most readers have been weeded out I will say that I love this place. It is a dump. Well, no, not a dump per se, but it is small, paneled and the sink for the men's room is actually in the bar, not in the men's room. But the beer is cold, the prices are reasonable, they have a pool table, the bartenders (at least the ones that served me) Â are very nice, and the clientele was pleasant.
I am not sure if the patrons change as time ticks on into the night - I was there on a Friday night until 8:30 or so. But then again, I wouldn't care if it did.
Bottom line is that the place is a small locals bar where it seems like people are not going to hassle anyone and you can have fun and get a cold drink at a decent price. Plus, they have Jagermeister and Miller High Life which gives the place high marks in my book.
If you are out for a throwback night, give this place a shot. And get one while you are there. Jager.
The Oaks is definitely a local bar, where the locals go. You will meet fisherman, and others from town. The menu is very limited, but the stuffed quahogs are very good. Beer is cheap, and some times there is a band.
It's not on the main drag, just down the hill. So if you want local flavor and
cheap beer, this is the place.
