Stumbled upon this place this past weekend with our family. Our 11 month old daughter had fallen asleep in her stroller so my mom inquired if it would be possible if we could bring her stroller in. The hostess explained that strollers had to be left outside.
My mom came back outside and said we were going to go elsewhere else, as to not wake her up. Two men standing outside overheard our conversation and one went inside. The other man informed us that that was the owner. He was able to secure us a table with room for our stroller. Great customer service!
As far as the food, it was great! Our table tried the clams on the half shell, prosciutto wrapped figs, and fresh mozzarella with tomato. For our main courses, we had salmon, off shore scallops, chicken francaise, and the chicken and sausage dish. We all cleared our plates.
The only negative aspect of our meal was the service. It seemed like they were short staffed, perhaps someone called out. However, it didn't ruin our experience. We will definitely be returning.
Was not impressed with this place at all. Â The food was subpar - from the apps to the main corse. Â Service was - meh....the bar was rather crowded with an older crowd , mean age around 60 and they looked to have been regulars. Â All were eating at the bar so some people do enjoy the food. Â Just not what I was expecting, especially being in the location it is
Review Source:Happy hour's hopping here! My experience was at the bar only, so I can't speak to the service other than the bartenders. They did seem to tend to their regulars before us, which I can totally understand since I'm a regular elsewhere, but they were friendly nonetheless, and managed to keep up with our refills.
Considering all the other places that serve alcohol in this area, if you want a welcoming, relaxed, NON-singles atmosphere, this would be the place. The food's standard, everything from pasta to seafood, steak or salad, and there are enough choices. I enjoyed my crab cake sandwich, which was timely brought after our appetizers. I saw someone try the pizza next to us and kind of wished I had gone for it, looked & smelled pretty good.
If you're a non local, this is a safe bet when you're hungry and want to get away from the crazy boardwalk crowd.
Ate there last night with a party of 8. Service was OK considering it was crowded and it looked like there were a lot of reservations for larger parties.  Our table had entrees/salads only, no appetizers. Entrees ran the board from dinner specials to prime rib to seafood.  My dinner, the pasta/seafood special, didn't taste all that great - ate less than half and didn't wrap the remainder.  Person who ordered prime rib was happy, as were several other diners.  Three people ordered scallops, one order fried and two broiled - both who ordered broiled sent their orders back saying the fish was bad and smelled funny - when you can smell the scallops from across the table, yes, there is  problem with them.  They ate the entrees they ordered as replacements, but it was a real bummer going to a seafood place and being served seafood that has turned bad.  Food was good, but nothing to write home about  We may venture in again, but it definitely won't be for the seafood.
Long and short, this place is typical of the type of restaurant that charges big bucks for atmosphere and location but falls far short of quality of dinners. Â Lots of other places not too far from here where you can get a really good meal for $8-10 per entree less.
3.5 Stars. After spending the afternoon hanging out at Point Pleasant beach, we needed an early dinner. The Offshore Restaurant looked inviting so we decided to check it out. It's a sizable, nice looking restaurant with a large bar and an additional dining room with a fireplace. Since we arrived early, we had no trouble snagging a table.
The menu consisted of the typical salads, sandwiches, pasta, steak and seafood. However, one of the pleasant surprises was the option of either ordering full portions or half portions for a majority of the main dishes. Beer selection was less than stellar, which wasn't a big deal after just coming from the tiki bar.
I've been eating entirely too much red meat lately, so I decided on the 8 oz. rib eye steak with a side of pasta. Couldn't help it. The steak was prepared medium, just like I ordered, and very tender. The pasta was also good, but the marinara sauce was slightly bland.
Overall, it was a good meal and we were very content with the half portions...and the half prices.
Always a consistently good meal. Â I dont know why it's not more crowded, although I've only been there for lunch, but I've been at least a dozen times. Â Today, I had a turkey triple decker club which was fantastic. Â My partner had Blackened Mahi Mahi and it was pretty freaking amazing.
Review Source:My family has been visiting the offshore for over twenty years. My grandparents were regulars and frequently treated all thirty of us to fantastic family dinners. The great memories I have of this restaurant are what make tonight's experience with the "hostess" so disappointing. Five of us  went to the restaurant for dinner at 8pm and we were met by the most surly of women. We had hardly approached the podium when she said, and I quote, "the wait is going to be over an hour and even then the service is going to be slow." I mean, what? You're going to tell your customers that the wait is ridiculous and your service sucks. Awesome. You pretty much wrote my review for me. I can't bash the food because it has consistently been great, but the woman they have propped up at the front door was exceedingly rude and we left completely floored by her tone and the not-so-welcoming nature of her comments. It's a bummer, but we will be spending our money elsewhere from now on.
Review Source:The interior took me by surprise, very nice, there is even a fireplace room.
My friend and I each ordered salads. Not sure if we can really judge how good their food is based on this, as their salads were not good at all. Both were dripping in dressing yet bland.
I think this might be more of a seafoodsteak place. Should have ordered that instead. Giving it two (2) stars for decor and because something smelled really good, should have ordered that instead.
I like this place. I been going there off and on since the 70s....It is much better since the fire and the rebuild. I went a couple of times this month for lunch. It was very good. Really nice setting. The bar itself is made of a beautiful mahogany wood. The place is broken up into several eating areas. My favorite is the wine room with a fireplace. I would always recommend this place when your in the area. The only problem I did have with this place is that someone walked a puppy in to the bar .... very cute etc. etc.... but not when the bartender pets it than get my dish and brings it to me before washing her dirty hands... I'm sure the dog will not be stopping in when you go...
Tell them Rory sent you
Another visit last night confirms that the offshore is still a very decent place to wine and dine. Â Sat at the bar and we enjoyed a flatiron sliced steak and chicken milanese both delicious and costing just $18 each - a real bargain. Â All washed down with a nice bottle of chianti.
Nice place to be at around the holidays, lovely decorations, great fire place and plenty of parking this time of year. Â Good choice for a Friday night repast.
Stopped in this place for dinner on the way back from AC. I was not impressed.
I have some dietary restrictions which limit the amount of red meat and salt I can eat so I often order broiled fish. The only white fish they had on the menu was a broiled flounder so I order that. 4 smallish fillets folded with two stacked on top of the other two almost completely covering.
The result of this was a mostly mushy, flavorless fish. Not very enjoyable.
My wife order an open steak sandwich which we expected to be a sliced steak but turned out to be unsliced on top of a couple of pieces of toast. OK but nothing to write home about.
Over all, I doubt  I'll be going out of my way to go here again.
Decent spot. Bar looked nice but traveling with my 13-yr-old daughter, so didn't venture in. Comfortable, relaxing atmosphere in dining room where I enjoyed a stiff gin on the rocks. The east coast clams on the half-shell were ok. My grilled 1.25 lb lobster stuffed with homemade lump crabmeat was overall very good, but claws were way overcooked. Waitstaff a little harried/service not good considering it was a Weds eve and restaurant was not at all crowded. Our friendly waitress did take our pic, and I tipped her well.
Review Source:Jersey shore restaurants have a vexing habit of being about 15 years behind the rest of the world. More than once I've been served the leaning tower of Pisa made from baked parmesan crisps or the pineapple volcano rising from my poor grilled salmon. If it doesn't throw a shadow to the next county, it isn't considered "dinner". The offshore is refreshing and simple by way of contrast. Martinis were ice cold. Steak was well cooked. Lobster was simple and flavorful. If you need a break from tortured presentation, Â and overwrought rasberry jam drizzles, this is your place.
Review Source:We stopped in here after driving around in circles deciding on which restaurant in the area we wanted to go to. Â We were a bit skeptical about this place because it is on the main drag right behind the boardwalk and figured places like this are usually bad and are only in business because of the location. Â
We enjoyed our meal here. Â Great atmosphere, variety of customers - old folks in ties and young people in jeans and shirts. Â Ordered the special pizza appetizer. Â It was so big we canceled one of our entrees. Â The pizza was delicious. Â The Salmon entree was average. Â
We went after labor day, on a Friday night and we had to wait a few minutes at the bar. Â Not a place to go to for a burger and a beer, but not a fancy romantic dinner place either.
