OOhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Grady's... a Granada Hills institution at least since I was there, gulp, 15 years ago or so? I don't know if it's the same owners and I seem to kind of remember a different layout, but whatever. Granada Hills is the gateway to the Northwest part of the San Fernando Valley, which is generally safer, quieter, cooler and less crowded than most areas of the SF Valley, which is reason enough to be there.
Aside from good geography, OG's is nothing special. Bar, booths, tables, pool table, pinball machine, darts, out back smoking area, etc.. Generally, this wouldn't bring me in, but my friends' band, SAMURAI FISH, have been playing there on Fridays, and so I ventured back.
I LOVE that they are hiring live bands on Fridays and Saturdays. SAMURAI FISH sounded really good, as usual, and there were plenty of dancers and rockers all the way up until closing. I love karaoke and the juke boxes of today are pretty trick, but there's nothing like hearing a good rock band playing live. I salute OG's for supporting that and I will be back.
