Went here with my buddies on a Saturday night. There was just one guy working solo but he was super friendly as he helped everyone out. I could see how he could be frustrated but he was super chill which was nice.

A couple of my friends got some samplers. You can sample up to 8 beers or you can pick, 7, 6, 5, and so on that you want to try.

I ended up going with the Dunkel Bock which was great.

Like others have stated, this is a BYOF place...meaning bring your own food to eat!
I would definitely like to come back here again for some more beer.

    It's just a brewery!

No fancy food menus here.  You come for the beer and stay for the beer.  The beers are vast and crafted well.  I will be returning periodically to see what's new, as should you.  This hidden gem is just that, a Gem that's been newly harvested from the earth and brought into the light to shine in the sun.

First off this beer is only available locally and on tap. It's a small brewery and they specialize in lagers. That said they have 8 plus lagers and ales on tap. For a small brewery that is a large selection. I am not a big fan of lagers so I went with their  English Black Ale. It had a very creamy well balanced taste. If you like dark beer I would recommend trying it. I ended up buying a stainless steel growler full of it. The brewery itself is off the beaten tourist trail of Broad Street so you have to make an effort to find it. Do so because you'll be pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere is causal with seating both inside and outside. Ol' Republic is a nice little jewel hidden in the gold country..... Can't wait to try their English Brown Ale!

It's so amazing to have a brewery in Nevada City- especially amazing because they make great beer. Ol Republic beers are not the super hoppy IPAs that you might expect- they are based on European  beers. My favorite is their California Common (as I am a fan of the hoppy IPA style and that one tastes somewhat similar) but I recommend the Dark Matter, Helles, English Style Brown, and Sierra Lightning. They often try out new styles (they call them "Project X" beers) that have consistently been excellent. They offer growlers and refills also. They don't serve food themselves (other than free snack mix) but have local food trucks and catering companies offering food every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday night. They also allow customers to bring in their own food- you can even have a pizza delivered from Miner Moes a few doors down. There is often live music or a game on TV and its usually full of locals hanging out and enjoying a beer. Kids and dogs can sometimes be found out on the patio and its not a rowdy bar scene at all, even on weekends.

This is a great little brewery offering a nice selection of delicious homemade beers by the glass or by the growler (to drink there or take out).   They also offer a sampler, which is a great way to get to know some of their offerings.  I can't drink a lot of beer at once, so I am pleased that I can order it in a small glass rather than their normal large size.

The atmosphere is casual, of course, offering high and low tables and outdoor seating.  It is clean and nice with wood, wrought iron, concrete floors.  The brewing area is visible and you can see them brewing nearly all of the time.  You will always find locals here enjoying a beer and a chat.

The service is friendly and knowledgeable, normally you just go up to the bar and ask for what you want.

There is no food service.  They allow patrons to bring there own food in from neighboring establishments.  They sometimes have a food truck in the parking area and frequently have some free munchies available on the bar.

I am more of a wine drinker, but I will definitely go back.

Very very good beer.  The brewers know what they are doing.  They have incredible variety--all brewed in house. I usually get the sampler because I can never settle one which one is my favorite.

I purchased three growlers filled with Sierra Lightning...the reviews are in and everyone loves it! Nice atmosphere...it's like a wine tasting place without the wine. Give it a try!

I thought the beer here was very nice.  Excellent taste.

The patio is a really cool place to hang out and drink a beer with friends.

I have been back a few times.  They are now fully furnished, with a variety of reasonably comfortable chairs and benches.

Some nights they have a food cart pull up and park outside, so you can get something to eat.  They have no problem with your bringing food in from elsewhere.  But they continue to sell only their own draft beer.

The beers are still a work in progress, altho I like them just fine.  Order a sampler and see what you like.

The place is fairly busy in the early evenings.  You should come and try it out.

Ordered the sampler that allows you to try 4 of the beers including a stout, an IPA, a Munich lager and California lager. The beer is good, yes good, not knock my socks off phenomenal. That though, is the beauty of beer. Some may come here and rave about the beers while others may be left a little less impressed. I left pleased but not ecstatic. The actual establishment is pretty nice and the outside seating area on a lovely day is relaxing. On a Saturday late afternoon, it was getting to be a full house. Mostly 40-50 something's but there was a good amount of those in their late 20's and early 30's as well. Nice local joint that I see growing and improving over time.

Good start boys. Grab a flight and try it all yourself.  Beer was okay over all, nothing rocked my socks but it was all drinkable, I will stick with the stout, and I am excited to see how these guys progress.  We did order a pizza from Miner Mo's since no food here, BUT I totally dug the help your self snacks, thanks. cant wait for warmer temps to sit outside.  Welcome to the neighborhood.
