This place is awesome!! My husband and I  are staying in a motel 6 in Auburn (I know, fancy fancy!) Anyway, we had a long day and just wanted food delivered to us. Old Town Pizza is amazing!!  First off our delivery guy, Joe, was super friendly and efficient. I forgot to ask for plates but he thought to bring them being that he was delivering to a motel. The food was insanely delicious. I'd even say its the best pizza delivery we've ever had bestowed upon us.  Trust me, we are not rookies in the realm of dinner delivery! We ordered the docs chicken pizza, bread sticks(filled with mozzarella and garlic, topped with Parmesan, and the green salad. All of these were prepared to perfection! I'm usually disappointed with my salad but OTP did not let me down. May I suggest the jalapeño ranch?!? Thank you Old Town Pizza!! We will for sure order again next time we're in town!!
Review Source:Great Pizza, good atmosphere, staff aren't that friendly - the girls were too interested in chatting up some guys and telling each other about their social life but no matter I'm here to eat not chat. I would have spent more money by having a second drink and a dessert if they had been bothered though.
Review Source:Me and my kids met up with a friend here for dinner. Â We'd never been. Â The waitress was super nice, the pizza was really good and they are definitely kid friends. Â There's games, which I didn't see, but the kids enjoyed. Â The prices were average...$40 for a pitcher of beer, kids drinks and a large pizza. Â We got "The Mother Load"....and I'd definitely get it again!
Review Source:We stopped here with the kids after coming back from a day at the snow. It has an awesome underground sort of feel with cool decor. The staff was super friendly and service was fast on every front.
The food was awesome. The pizza is one of the best I've ever had, and I've ate a lot of pizza. Prices were reasonable but they had so many unique food items to try it kind of racked our bill up, but that was our own fault and the food was so good we had no regrets. The Hawaiian pizza with cashews in it is unique and great.
We will definitely find an excuse to go through Auburn to stop by this place again.
One of the best local pizza places with great pizzeria atmosphere....very local, very family oriented all around. Â Friday and Saturday nights tend to get very busy but you can order ahead and pick up. Â Family size pizza is HUGE but great because you typically have leftovers for cold pizza breakfast slices! Â Crust and sauce are truly artisan quality!!
Review Source:Overall good quality, but you often have to wait a very long time for a table on Friday or Saturday. My only problem was the consistently our pizza is soggy in the middle, which is very frustrating. BUT, their service is good and so are their salads. We will keep trying to reach perfection there.
Review Source:Amazing, fresh, yummy pizza! I love the doc's chicken and everything I have eaten there has been delicious. Once a year they do $5 medium cheese or pepperoni pizzas on wednesdays and that is great way to feed a crowd for super cheap with amazing pizza! Their prices are not bad compared to Round Table because it's a.) way better pizza b.) they are locally owned and are really friendly and provide great customer servide and c.) big portions and they don't skimp on the toppings! It's a neat place to meet up and have dinner with friends, though the parking can be limited due to the old town area being busy...
Review Source:In the middle of bay area and lake tahoe. So I think this place is perfect for energizing you before you enter the mountain area or just escape from it. Great atmosphere and
great pizza! Must drop by if you happen to be around when you are on the way to Tahoe. The small town is nice too. AUBURN ALOHA is my favorite!
I love pizza and this place gets the job done. When I was there with my party we were taken care of and the food was good. I ordered a pesto pizza and it was a one with heavy meat and it was mmm mmm good.
My only gripe is having to walk through an area where servers are do get to the bathroom. It wasn't a bad experience and everyone moved out of the way....it was just weird.
Ill be going back next time I have a hankering for pizza and I am in DTA
I have been eating at Old Town Pizza (OTP) for many years now and we have NEVER had a bad pizza there! Our family eats there probably 3-4 times a month. The staff has always been friendly and accommodating.
We've had family events (birthdays, etc.) and everyone we take there has always been impressed with the quality of the food. The atmosphere is cool too, it is all brick.
Like any other popular place, if you show up at 5 pm on a Sat night with no reservation you will have to wait a while to be seated.
I love pizza, and have been to every pizza place in Auburn. OTP is by far the best pizza in the Auburn area.
Definitely recommend!
Most of my family moved to the Auburn area 2 years ago. Â Since that time, OTP has become a staple as part of our weekend visits to Auburn. Â The pizza is divine, meatball sliders at $1.25 each are a perfect midday snack, pizza burritos a great lunchtime feast. Â Happy hour specials are great. Â Can't say anything bad about this place!! Â Service is great too!
Their beer selection is excellent and the rotating monthly tap always makes each visit a unique experience. Â
And the fact you can get take and bake - awesome. Â pick up the pizza before it gets too crowded but cook it when you are ready to eat! Â PERFECT!
Ethan and team - you are doing a great job. Â keep it up!
My favorite pizza in Auburn. Â Next to North Beach Pizza in San Francisco, this my favorite West Coast Pizza ! Â The place is small and somewhat cramped but the service and food make this place worth dining at. Â Try the breadsticks and yes, make sure you get garlic! This is full of melty cheese and garlic - beware if not all in your party eat it! Quite pungent! The Motherload, with lots of veggies and meat is my favorite pizza. The "small" salads can easily feed 2...
Review Source:My S.O. Took me here after a friend of his on a forum told him about this place. I was skeptical service would be good since the day we went a motorcycle run was in Alburn and it was super busy. I was wrong! The pizza was deli sous and crispy. The chicken wings were flavorful and crispy for being oven baked. They have a good beer on tap selection and the service was excellent even for being busy. The decor was cute, homey hole in the walk. I really liked this place and would recommend it to anyone in the area!
Review Source:Pizza burrito. Â Win. It's basically a personal size calzone, but how does that not rock? Â No sharing or arguing about toppings. Â No reheating leftovers at home or eating til you're sick. Â Reminds me a lot of Mountain Mikes, but with a better rotating beer selection ( yes craft) and a neat ambience underground with cute little speakeasy decorations and old time photos. Â Staff was friendly and efficient. Â I definitely recommend a stop here!
Review Source:Super cute little pizza joint with a sort of Boston flair. Â Auburn being rather olde towne in that touristy kinda way, I was glad to have some decent fair, and a good Stockton IPA on tap to go along with. Â The pizza was a good size, and plenty for two. Â A different take on margharita, with whole tomatoes, and a slightly thicker crust. Â Very good. Â Warms up the day, and preps for the labor day traffic heading back to Oakland!!
Review Source:5 stars for not just a hole in the wall, but a hole in the wall with an awesome meatball slider!!!!
We came here during a local visit and was walking around the old town area and wanted a small bite & drink to get away from the 90* heat. As soon as we walked in, it felt very welcoming. The atmosphere reminded me as an Italian style "Cheers" set up with good service. We ordered the hot wings and their meatball sliders. The wings were average but man, the meatball slider was awesome! I don't understand why they don't have meatball sliders in L.A. at all! The meatball was well seasoned, juicy, and generously sized. The marinara sauce was tangy yet sweet and the soft, sweet roll held everything together like a birthday present! I wish I had more than one stomach at the time, otherwise I would've requested a meatball mega slider!
The place itself is very nice and homey. I liked the atmosphere very much. However, the severs couldn't get their act together! It was just after 5pm on a Friday night and no one was waiting to be seated, yet it took a while for them to even realize we were there. Once we were seated, they forgot about us.Several servers had walked by several times, not even a glance towards us. We ended up having to flag a server down after 15 minutes of waiting. They told us that no one knew who was supposed to take our table. And apparently that meant no one was to bother to figure it out.
Once we flagged someone down, and they laughed at our misfortune of their incompetence, they finally had decent service. The food is really nothing special to write home about. It is good though. Just nothing I would go out of my way to eat again. Especially when you consider the service of the night.
I also agree with the other people who have reviewed this place about their paper napkins and cups. I didn't much care for it, but at least the beer we were able to use a chilled mug. The pepperoni also isn't very good. Its the small kind with little flavor. They need to switch it out with the more tastey larger variety.
Delicious! So fresh and hot. Â The service is so family friendly.
It's a cute little place in the little old town area.
I don't recommend going two doors down to the candy shop though, the lady there is a meany and doesn't like kids. Â But she didn't spoil the yummy pizza we had just enjoyed.
Two days later and I am still thinking about the pizza. We ordered half vegetarian half sausage and pepperoni.
Racer 5 on tap! Over the top bread sticks, loaded with mozzarella and, super crusty! Thats enough to keep me coming back for happy hour.
At times this small establishment can get a bit tight but, if you can miss the weekend crowds you can get seated pretty fast.
Service is pretty good ,even over the top for a pizza joint. Never a dry pitcher or wine glass!
Any how this is the best pizza on the hill IMO and, better than most consistantly I have found in the greater Roseville area.
I liked it!
We grabbed a bite to eat while on our way up the hill. There were a few other patrons in the place and the staff was nice.
The decor is incredibly casual and comfy, I love that.
We ordered the garlic bread, and a pineapple and pepperoni pizza.
Or beverages were promptly served, and the garlic came out a few minutes later. One piece was pretty toasted but I suppose some people like that? I didn't really read the menu and hadn't realized the garlic bread is smothered in cheese... so it was really like a sauce-less pizza than garlic bread... okay but nothing spectacular.
We ordered a small 10" pizza to split between the two of us which was perfect size. Mounds of pineapple and a generous amount of pepperoni. I thought the crust was very good, pineapple was fine, the sauce was lacking, and the pepperoni wasn't that great.
I honestly think if they had used a different pepperoni that would have been a five star for me...; maybe.
I don't like the paper cup usage for in-the-restaurant eating.. and they do use paper plates and offer you a second one after you've used one for your appetizer; no bueno my green-friendly amigos!
I will come back sometime and try a different pizza, perhaps one of the specialty ones.
I absolutely love the crust and toppings of this pizza!  There could be a bit more sauce, but the pizza is wonderful.  The atmosphere is awesome too.  This is a great place to hang out and  have a blast.  The atmosphere makes you laugh and it screams "fun!" Â
The only negative is that they are not environmentally friendly, nor are they a part of the local or slow food movements. Â They use paper "to go" cups and plates for everything. Â I could not believe the amount of trash they contribute. Â I find this socially irresponsible. Â They don't know where their meats or produce come from either. Â This is truly bothersome to me. Â It is common, but restaurants are beginning to break that mold. Â
So, I had to stick to cheese pizza and had to eat it off a napkin as I won't contribute to the landfills that way, but, all in all, I had a great time and LOVED the food!
DISGUSTING!!!
Because I am always looking for good pizza I made the mistake of stopping here for lunch. Either the previous reviewers never had a decent (never mind good or great) pizza or they have all been shills. The slice of p-I-z-z-a (if one can call it that) that was brought to me was an oily glop of burned cheese sitting on top of oil soaked dough. After using several napkins in a vain attempt to try to sop up the grease I gave up and, for the first time in 59 years of eating pizza, walked away without even trying one bite - the pizza was that disgusting in how much oil was on it!!! Also, there didn't appear to be any tomato sauce on it. Probably a good thing as I assume whatever they would have thought qualified as tomato sauce would probably be some type of cheap ketchup. Rather than eat here, save your money and go hungry. You'll come out ahead.
Interesting .. a pizza place filled with handmade kitschy photos rather than decor from the 1950's nostalgia catalog.
The pizza is mediocre and moderately greasy. Â It's a lot better than Domino's or Pizza Hut but nothing special - we tried the pesto pizza which didn't have a whole lot of flavor and was very bready (I am a thin cruster).. Â I tried a meatball sandwich - the bread was stale, and the tomato sauce was completely without flavor. Â The meatballs themselves were edible, but it was kind of pricey at close to 10 bucks for a sandwich that was Subway-quality.
Servers were polite and friendly, and the place was clean and well-preserved.
I love this place but the food is NEVER consistent. One day we will get the most AMAZING Auburn Aloha and the crust is crisp and perfect, others it is soggy and icky. They are amazing for large groups for birthdays and soccer.
ooh yeah HATE HATE HATE the fact I now have to pay for parking..come on people it's Auburn!
Excellent pizza! Probably would have four stars if in a town with better pizza competition.
Sometimes there is a live band and it's a small place; so, I never stay there if I drop by when a band is playing. The last time I went there it was a family member of someone from Old Town Pizza itself, so I stayed for a bit to be polite - but I had to sneak some nips in to be able to handle it.
The only problem is that it's too expensive, for the size. In a town with more pizza competition they would need to charge less, make larger sizes and probably tweak a few things. All in all, excellent pizza.
... be careful driving out of there, if you have any drinks. It is heavily patrolled by APD. Officer Peckerhead is usually busy bothering the kids, but watch out for the others.
This rathskellar landmark in Old Town offers up some great pizza. It was one of the first places Rachel and I ate when we came into town and it's one of only two places in town we'll buy pizza from. The Browning family has done a great job. They've even opened a second location in Lincoln (California, that is). The restaurant was established in 1999 and all their dough is hand-tossed. Excellent.
