This place needs to be on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. Â Best pizza Fort Wayne has to offer! Â You have to get their double crust deep dish. Â I think it's better than the Chicago deep dish just because it's double the cheese and sauce and not breading. Â Their house salad dressing is also delicious.
Review Source:This place is excellent. The water they serve is well water which has a bit high iron content but the advantage in this is that the dough of the pizza (which is made on site) is delicious. Excellent fresh ingredients. If you don't like deep dish try their veggie pizza. I will definitely get it again.
Review Source:Some of the best pizza you can get anywhere in The Fort. Sit down dining available, but I've always gotten take-out.
The double crust deep dish is awesome. Be prepared to be stuffed after 2 slices. The regular crust carries the same great flavor as well.
Don't rob your taste buds by choosing a national chain over this local fave.
My husband grew up in Fort Wayne and his family still lives around here. Â Though there isn't a whole hell of a lot to do in Fort Wayne, you can be sure that we set aside at least one lunch/dinner to pay a visit to this place.
As you will see referenced in other reviews, I am not a big fan of pizza. Â Throw all of that out the window when it comes to Oley's. Â I LOVE OLEY'S.
My husband loves their double decker pizza (it's HUGE, he can usually only eat 2 pieces before feeling sick) though I'm completely content with their single layer "normal" pizza. Â Then again, there's nothing "normal" about something that tastes like it came from heaven.
We've also been known to down a pitcher (or two...or five) of beer while we're here and for a little hole-in-the-wall pizza place, their bar isn't all that bad. Â I always get a salad to start out my meal and though it isn't anything special, it's pretty tasty.
Service is generally pretty good (it's a really small dining room), but the pizza does take a while to make so you'll wait for your food awhile (which is why we've gone through so much beer in one sitting.)
One huge downfall is their weird hours. Â We still can't figure them out. Â They're open for approximately 2.5 hours on Saturdays, I swear. Â (This is an exaggeration, but seriously, don't get your heart set on Oley's until you have a chance to make sure it's on the schedule. Â We've done that before and it seriously almost brought me to tears.)
We're simple people who always choose things like pepperoni or sausage (or, SOMETIMES, we get BOTH), but they have a ton of selections.
If pizza isn't your thing, they also have lots of items to choose from on the menu (which is always my first line of defense), but, coming from a non-pizza lover, I've gotta say - you need to at least try a slice.
The next time we'll visit Fort Wayne will likely be for Thanksgiving and I would gladly for-go the Thanksgiving feast for a dinner at Oley's. Â It's THAT good.
This is some of the best deep dish pizza I have ever had, and I've eaten Chicago deep dish on a number of occasions.
The restaurant is a little shabby, but just enough to feel comfortable (not an uncomfortable high class joint), and the service is great. One thing I really liked was the fact that you almost had to walk through the kitchen to get to the dining room.
We got the Oley's Deluxe in the "big ten" - it's their extra large, TEN POUND pizza, and I must say it was great. However, my wife and I customized it quite a bit (which they were happy to do). We asked that half the pizza be: sliced tomatoes, mushrooms, spinach, extra (fresh) mozzarella cheese, and sliced fresh basil (which they had on hand) - honestly, this was one of the best pizzas I have ever eaten!! Â It was amazing (Although, next time I'd like to add some of their homemade mild Italian sausage too). I joked with the waitress (who was also the owner's daughter) that they should put this pizza on their menu and call it "The Nate" so if you order these ingredients, be sure to ask for it by name (and be prepared to get a funny look when you do, haa haa).
I plan on making Oley's a regular for us.
