Sophia's is great!Every time I've been, the owner has greeted me with the warmth of a family member! The food is very good! One of the few places in Greenwood that serves Eggs Benedict (although the Hollendaise is a bit bland, it's probably appropriate for Greenwood :(...) and in general you won't be disappointed.

Good choice for breakfast if you don't want to go to Bob Evans and have a hankering for that type of food. Went on a busy weekend morning a couple months ago. Portions were enormous. If we go back, we'll probably split a meal because it was way too much!

The food is good as long as you're never in the kitchen. Many of the food items come from a can. Before I knew better about this restaurant, I loved the food. The food is still good and excellent serving sizes for the price (too big, usually), but I don't go back very often. All I can say is, bring your own syrup or ask for To Go syrup. If the restaurant were run differently, this review would be Top Notch, but that won't happen any time soon

It was Sunday. We were hungry. This was close to where we were so we stopped in. I was suprised how busy it was. The indoor seating was full and people were sitting outside as well. For a table of three around 10:30 AM, it was about a twenty minute wait which we didn't mind.

I chose the veggie omelette, although I was a bit intimidated by it having five eggs in it! That's a lot of egg, y'all. I went with egg whites because sometimes I like to be healthy. Sucker was still huge and I had plenty left over to take home.

It was good food, but nothing special.

If the name of the place has the word "pancake" written blue and bold, then sign me up cause I freaking LOVE pancakes.  I was actually disappointed in the fact they didn't have more pancake options given the title, but hey I made due.

I ordered a stack of strawberry pancakes. It was pretty when it came out, and it actually had fresh cut strawberries (not  that frozen, thawed, runny, and sweet stuff).  My plain Jane hubby ordered the Old-fashioned.

The cakes were hot, but a tad on the dry side. The prices were OK, my cakes were over $7.00, which I felt was expensive. I was full and the service was fast.

Go back? If I were on the Southside maybe, but I wouldn't go out of my way.

I had the veggie omlette with hashbrowns.  The place was hot and I just wanted to get out of there.  The coffee was good, but the mug was chipped up.  The water glass was either dirty or the plastic was badly scuffed.  The omlette was ok, nothing to write home about.  The hashbrowns were, well, hashbrowns.  The portions were gigantic.  I could only eat half of it and I am not a small guy.

If it were possible, I'd give them more stars! Sophia's knows breakfast and they do it well! The french toast stuffed with marscapone cheese is heavenly. It's perfectly complimentary to the rib-eye steak that I had to go with it. The creamy, slightly sweet marscapone balanced with the perfectly peppered steak. The decor doesn't offer much, but with food that good, nobody's looking at the 1980s style.

BREAKFAST!!!!  This is everything a breakfast joint should be.  Mostly nice, semi-surly waitresses.  A laundry list of egg combinations.  Pancakes.  Quick food for cheap.

I ordered egg whites hard scrambled, and they were perfect (not everyone even knows what hard scrambled is, much less how to do it).  For your bread, you can get toast, a pancake, or a mini waffle.  Are you kidding??!?!  And the waffle is homemade!

They also have my fav, shredded hash browns. None of those fancy "breakfast potatoes" for me.  The hash browns were nicely browned, lightly seasoned, and just perfect.

My mother was bummed because she said at least three times -- I want my bacon CRISPY, like, nearly burned.  And of course her bacon came out limp and barely cooked.  And she said to the server -- I wanted my bacon crispy.  The server just said, "Oh."  Mom didn't push the issue and if she did, I'm sure the server would have brought her new bacon.  But it was a lost opportunity that the server didn't volunteer to have it cooked properly.

We will go back, but next time be more insistent is something is not cooked to our liking.

Mom -- two eggs, hash browns, bacon, toast, and coffee.
Me - two eggs, hash browns, bacon, waffle, iced tea.

    Total bill - $20

Probably one of my favorite breakfast locations.  The portions are large. The prices are cheap considering the amount of food you get.  I always opt for the egg/bacon/hasbrowns and pancakes.  Amazing!  The stuffed french toast is a sweet treat but not a way to start your day breakfast.  The service is fast & friendly.

Best Breakfast Place on the planet! Of course that's only an opinion but about 20 of us from our car club landed at Sophias yesterday for breakfast. My meal was $13.25 and was steak and eggs. I had no idea that the meal would come on three plates. One for the eggs done perfectly, with hash browns, one for the ribeye steak which literally was perfectly done as medium rare and it was large enough to fill the plate with a bit hanging over the sides of the plate. The third plate was wheat toast but could have been pancakes with surple.

Everyone of us lest satisfied, served on time and to my knowledge, no errors.

I was amazed and if I find a chance to go again I will take it!

Great breakfast! I only gave 4 stars because the dinner options I've tried were below average but breakfast is always fantastic. Prices are fair and they are efficient so you never have to wait long. This place used to be a sunshine cafe which went under. I was glad to see it replaced by another breakfast diner that was better!

Awesome food, and huge servings.  If you order two eggs, expect to get four.  Great omelets and friendly staff.  I only downgraded to four stars because their hours prohibit me from visiting more.

I came here based on the recommendations I read on Yelp, and I have to say I was sorely disappointed.  Yes, the portions are HUGE, but that doesn't really make a difference if the food is totally gross, does it.  I will say the pancakes are great, however, the eggs Florentine that I ordered was basically inedible.  Hollandaise sauce that was as thick as sausage gravy over eggs that were poached hard...the best part of an eggs Florentine is the runny poached egg!  And because of the overabundance of not-hollandaise gravy all over the plate, the english muffin was soggy.  Boo.
The waitress we had also seemed to vacillate between disdain and disinterest, seeming extremely put out by having us ask for an extra place setting for the third person in our group, as there were only 2 place settings in the booth we were sat at.  She only visited us 3 times, once to take the order, once to bring the food, and once to drop the check.  I don't think I will be going back.

Yes, the food is good and they have large portions but really...we'll never go back. We've been to Sophias many times. The owners and basically all the family members that work there are very rude and unappreciative from the snotty little hostess up. The waitresses are good but from what we have heard, they treat them like crap too. It is very loud and in the summer you'll find it very warm because the owner doesn't want to invest in upgrading the air conditioning. You can get a much better breakfast up the street at Four Seasons or right across the street at Bob Evans. Customer service still means something to me. I can make great eggs and gravy at home-we don't go out for breakfast just for the food, we go to be served and pampered a little. I will spend my money where I feel it is appreciated.

GIANT portions.  Good food.  Giant portions.  Good coffee.  Have I mentioned the GIANT portions?  Less than $6 resulted in portions so large that the "two eggs with biscuits and gravy" is actually FOUR eggs, includes delicious hash browns, and fills TWO full-sized plates.

I was there with four other people.  Everyone's eggs were cooked EXACTLY as they specified.  Two people got the corned beef hash (nice balance of crispy and soft), one got the steak (which takes up a plate on its own) and eggs, and one got the pancakes.  I had to take a bite of the pancakes, since they're in the restaurant's name.  YUM.

Plainly, people have heard about this place, because it was hoppin'!

I checked the "loud" for the noise level because there are no walls or partitions of any kind to break up sound... say, for instance, the sound of a baby screaming at a nearby table.

Oh Sophia's how I miss thee.  When we lived in Greenwood we would venture out to Sophia's once a week for breakfast as a family.  Always tried to get there on a weekday as the weekends were just crazy to try and get a seat during the breakfast hours.

Not so sure what is up with the 2 eggs =4 eggs, maybe they have some special chickens over there in Greece, because the Greek owned breakfast joint up here does the same thing, but the eggs are always cooked to my liking.  The meat is always nice and moist.  The omelets are excellent, I wanted to try one of the more adventurous combinations, but never felt all that adventurous when the waitress showed up.

Generous portions, nice wait staff, nice hostess/cashier, and relatively good pricing will keep us coming back every time we visit family.

Perfect eggs benadict, and the kids never leave anything on their plates.

Best Breakfast place in Greenwood.  Not that we have that many and Four Seasons is great but Sophia's has Ham. Not just any ham but a big ole' slab of ham waiting to go with your eggs..

Oh what's that? You don't want any ham. Then get the melt in your mouth lighter than air pancakes.

No pancakes? That's cool. Try the French Toast, it is delicous. Perfectly cooked every time!

    Real OJ too!

And the rumors are true.. You order 1 egg you get 2. Order 2 you get 4. Kinda defeats the purpose of ordering 1 or 2 but at the same time it is a little bonus :) Not sure what happens if you order 3, I haven't tried that yet...

Sophia's reminds me of my favorite Greek diner in Chicago.  Well, 'cept it's not open 24 hrs.

Best way to describe Sophia's is like a marriage of LePeep and the Original House of Pancakes.  Interior is bright n sunny, well-lit space.

Open 7 days a week closes at 3pm.  Huge menu. Like, compete-with-Cheesecake-Factory-it's-practically-that-big-menu.  Egg eggs eggs, paninis, all varieties of waffles/pancakes/french toast/crepes, sandwiches, burgers, soup, salads, you get the point.

First thing you're asked when you sit down is, regular or decaf?  It's okay coffee. It's strong enough. It's better than McDs. It's the southside.

I go for their most excellent egg white omelets (or regular omelets) bc i love breakfast food and would eat breakfast for dinner every other day if my boyfriend let me. They have over 10 house ones around $7 or you could create-your-own too, w/ none of that crazy $2-per-extra ingred nonsense a la Patachou et al (don't get me wrong, I'm a huge longtime fan of Patachou too. but you know, places are different). Off the top of my head that includes Denver, Western, Spartan, Michigan (cheddar n apple), Hawaiian, they even have an artichoke-mozarella-parmesan one. Anyway, the only thing that would take it to a perfect-10 is if they served em in the skillet, also w/ a "Pam" option, instead of butter.

Comes with hashbrowns & your choice of toast or 2 pancakes (well actually they have this long list of possible side options too, but do people actually eat cottage cheese with their omelets?), yeah it's a LOT of food. I always switch out the potatoes for fresh fruit-- usually banana, canteloupe, orange, pineapple. Really nice.  If you do stick with the hash browns, they're done right, come w/ a perfectly browned crust.  Moist n fluffy pancakes, as much hot syrup as you need.

If you are going for lunch, traditional club sandwich is my rec, get the fries, they are really good fries!!  they will make them however you like-- if you like em limp n blonde, you get limp n blonde. Me, I require structure-- golden-brown and crunchy. they've delivered product every time. (Likewise, they will customize your omelet for you too-- easy on the cheese, heavy on the veggies, etc.)  Friends have also enjoyed the country fried steak, corned beef hash, BLT.  Huge fresh salads.... well all-in-all huge portions if it hasn't been made apparent yet!  good value.

Friendly & competent service, those ladies work for and deserve their tips.

oh-- if you like to judge places by the quality of the jams on the table- they serve Dickenson's.  that's good jam.  that's not cutting corners.

This is a great place for breakfast, the downside is never go here on a Sunday, you will be waiting forever to eat. But you know what they say, if the place is busy it must be good! The fruit bowl is awesome, they give you plenty of food, you WILL be full after eating here!

Sophia's is a very good place to have breakfast.  It's a very popular place because it's always crowded.  The food is very delicious.  I like their french toast a lot, and my wife thinks their coffee is pretty good.  They give you good portions of food, especially the eggs (if you order two eggs you'll actually get four eggs).  If you order fruit, you'll get an entire plate full.  The staff is very friendly and the service is quick.

Absolutely the best breakfast place in Greenwood.  A massive menu with options for adults and kids alike.  I love the Gyro Omelet or the crepes...but just about anything is good there.  Coffee is the only room for improvement, but the food makes up for it.
