Back in my young'un days as a high school student in a post-exam mood, my friends and I would always hang out here to pig out and enjoy each other's company. It had a spacious, yet homey and friendly atmosphere I really liked (and still do). While the service was a little on the gruff side, they were punctual and knew when to get our orders and checks, which I think counts more.
From what I can remember, I've had their tuna melt, hamburgers, milkshakes, fries, scrambled eggs, and a side of coleslaw. All of them were consistently delicious. The tuna was not soggy, and the cheese melted perfectly. Their hamburgers were a generous size that one could polish off, and their fries were fresh, providing a nice contrast with the ketchup between hot and cold. Their milkshakes were sweet, but not cloyingly so. And the eggs? The fluffiest things on earth. I'm even a fan of their coleslaw, and I abhor coleslaw.
Definitely a highlight of my high school life, but even more so now that I don't haunt the Bronx as much as I used to. Plus, with cheap prices, what could go wrong?
