I would stop by mulligans every other weekend starting back about 2 years ago until this past summer and always had a great experience. It would get crowded but the staff was great and the manager would actually go around ask people how everything was going. All  I Can Say is Wow!!!! did this place go down hill fast. I signed a contract with a new company that took up my weekends and didnt have a chance to make it down there in about 6 months I just cant believe how a place can nose dive like that in such little time. The new manager has no idea what he is doing. This bar was our first stop of the night at 930 on saturday 04/06/2013 it was not crowded at all.....not a horrible thing but at the same time on a saturday not a good sign for a down town bar. Before we could even get to the bar and order a drink the "manager" came up to our group and said " I cant serve any of you  your friend was walking funny"  we thought he was joking until he said it again. I explained my friend had his acl repaired months ago and stil has a slight limp and we had nothing to drink yet.  He didnt seem to care. I asked for the manager that I knew from when it was mulligans and he explained he was no longer there  and that he was the new manager. I told him by the look of the crowd in there on a saturday he was doing a fantastic job and left. We went to rodanos after with no problems and had a great time. My advice to whoever wants to try this place out if you intend on staying for more than 2 minutes walk straight or go elsewhere.
Review Source:Mulligans really went downhill in terms of safety. There was a shooting and a lot of other violence here from time to time and is now closed. It will soon become O'Sullivan's and although they are trying to rebrand themselves into an actual Irish Pub, I have my doubts that it will work out.
The Wilkes-Barre crowd will make their way over from Hardware and I think it will be just like it always was.
It's a good spot for the nightlife in Wilkes Barre even though it gets extremely crowded on the weekends. It's def your best option considering the other option is the hardware bar. they have pool tables, dart boards, a nice patio for the summer and of course what everyone cares about, great drink specials
Review Source:Mulligan's is a great place to go on the weekends! It is located right by 2 colleges so the main crowd are young-mid 20 yr olds. If you are looking for a nice sit-down bar to relax at this is NOT the place for you! They have great DJs that usually play the hits of today as well as some good oldies they bring back! They also recently started a "$2 you call it" special where you can order any mixed drink, shot, bomb, or beer for only $2 between the hours of 10pm and midnight (beer is $2 all night long)! It is truly an awesome deal! The bartenders are great and really handle the crowds well! The drinks are also made strong (you would think for $2 they might skimp a little-but nooo way!) Another bar is located across the street with a happy hr that only goes until 11pm, so usually once that happy hour ends, Mulligans has the tendency to get uncomfortably crowded.
This summer they also put an outside patio addition onto the bar. This was a great idea and really allowed more room to move around and be comfortable. I was also pleased to see (just this past weekend) they still had the patio open, even though the chilly nights of Fall have set in. They had heating towers set up every few feet outside to keep their patrons nice and toasty while enjoying a drink outside.
I try to come here as often as a can while this special lasts! They really try to accommodate their patrons and do a great job keeping me and my friends happy!
Waked in, walked out. My wife and i were looking for a place to grab a quick bite on a Monday around 5. Most places we knew of or liked were closed. We had heard about this place briefly and figured why not. As we opened the HEAVY doors, lol, we knew why NOT! Dank, dirty and smelled of old cigarette smoke. Honestly, we should have known. If this place is associated with the place across the street, Hardware bar, its the same type of place. Other reviewer must be the owner! lol
Review Source:Mulligan's provides a very unique experience depending on the day and time you visit. Â On weekends before 9 its caters to an older crowd looking to stop somewhere for a drink on their way home from dinner. Â This is especially true during the warmer months when the patio is open in the back of the establishment. Â After 10 on weekends it is slammed with the 21-30 crowd looking to let loose. Â It gets very crowded and the DJ keeps the party going all night with a wide range of electronic and dance music. Â During the week, it tends to be a little slower most nights and is a great place to just enjoy the company of friends. Â The only exception to the slow weeknights is when there is an even going on such as the Dubstep Wednesdays that have recently been featured.
The layout of the establishment is functional and nicely themed. Â As you enter through the heavy wooden doors, there is a lounge area to the left by the front windows with "leather" couches and chairs as well as a faux fireplace. Â Very good for a group of friends to kick back. Â To the right is a pool table and electronic dart board which are both pay to play. Â There is a large open area in the center that facilitates dancing on the nights with a live DJ. Â A beautiful wood bar runs the length of the main room with a variety of beer on tap including Guinness and Harp (did I mention its an Irish pub theme?). Â There is seating on the left at pub tables which is the only thing I wish they would change with regards to the layout as it makes it nearly impossible to walk through the area between the bar and tables when its crowded. Â Results in a lot of spilled drinks and heated arguments. Â There are two pay to play pool tables and a free dart board in the back room along with a cigarette machine. Â There's another smaller bar in the back that is open on weekends but typically not during the week. Â Smoking is permitted throughout the building. Â
The bar is well staffed, especially on weekends which makes it pretty easy to get served. Â Although owned by the same company that owns The Hardware Bar, it is a more relaxed environment during the week and caters to a more fashionable crowd on weekends.
